The Freerunner Platoon is a troop transport unit that consists of eight Freerunner, along with eight pilots, sixteen gunners, eight technicians, and four mechanics to operate and maintain them. Designed as a troop transport and gun platform for combat, it is heavily armored and armed with two aft mounted anti-infantry blaster batteries above and behind where its passengers are located. Operated by the pilots in the platoon, each can carry 6 passengers allowing the platoon to carry 48 soldiers or passengers. With the Empire's decision to utilize walkers and track vehicles, it found use by the Rebel Alliance to transport troops into combat.
