The BD-unit "Survivor Edition" Backpack Droid is a modified version of the BD-unit Backpack Droid. It has been fitted with additional tools and resources such as a macrobinocular "BD Vision" mode that allows a person to look through their photoreceptors and highlight targets and destinations, a stim dispenser, a thruster for hovering and quick bursts, a droid hacking matrix, and more powerful computer access and slicing link.
BD-A has developed a personality around the concept of a caretaker. It has assumed the needs of its owner to be its prime directive, even such tasks that have not been requested of it. This results in BD-A often flitting about in an attempt to meet any possible task before it is necessary, including menial tasks.
This BD-unit "Survivor Edition" Backpack Droid has been upgraded with an experimental electrical defense grid that allows BD-A to operate at normal capacity when hit with ionized electricity, and prevents any permanent damage or loss of functionality.
An advanced toolkit has been integrated into BD-A, allowing it to perform sophisticated and large-scale repairs on other droids or technology.
BD-A has been altered to appear more as a token of wealth than your typical BD-unit "Survivor Edition" Backpack Droid. Silver paint has been applied to the droid's exterior, allowing for accented gold plating in order to create a contrast and draw attention to the supposed credit value the droid represents.
