The Iota-class TS-485 Light Shuttle was designed collaboratively by Sienar Fleet Systems and Cygnus Spaceworks to serve as a smaller, more compact version, of the T-4 Lambda shuttle that could be utilized for trips of shorter durations where using the Lambda would be inefficient. Hyperdrive capable, this vessel has average maneuverability and speed, with light shielding and armor.

Drawing inspiration from historic Republic medical frigates, MedSprint Red features a cream-colored base coat broken up by wide, blocky stripes of deep maroon. This traditional livery ensures that the Iota-class TS-485 Light Shuttle can be visually identified as a humanitarian vessel.
MedSprint Red has had the majority of its standard passenger seating removed to make room for secure medical beds and monitoring stations. This modification reduces the standard capacity of the Iota-class TS-485 Light Shuttle to roughly a quarter of its original specification, allowing the safe transport patients.
