The R9-series Astromech Droid is the latest in Industrial Automaton's line of R-series astromech droids, designed to fit in the droid socket of any starfighter. They feature faster processors and increased durability over the more popular R2 line. It is commonly designed with a domed or tapered code head, with a cylindrical core in addition to a base, retractable tread leg, and two main legs. It has multiple appendages and attachments within its compartments, such as shock prods, welding torches, and is equipped with a holoprojector and a periscope that has a probe function, which is usable in space.

Override (Droid Modification)

R9-D6 (Artemis) has had most of the factory installed safety limitations on operation removed, both in the hardware and software, allowing this R9-series Astromech Droid to perform acts at the limits of its physical capabilities. This can make the droid stronger and more resiliant than a standard R9-series Astromech Droid, but at great risk to the droid itself or others.

Old Soul (Droid Personality)

Artemis contains the personality matrix of R3-D6, the astromech droid belonging to Jon's grandfather. Having witnessed the Clone Wars, the Empire, the Galactic Civil War, and everything since, Artemis is a world-weary and irascible old droid. Having witnessed three generations of Jon's family come and go, she sees him less like a master or even a partner, and more like an irresponsible ward she's tasked with protecting.

Mint Condition (Droid Cosmetic)

R9-D6 (Artemis) has been painstakingly cared for, and even upon close examination it appears as though R9-series Astromech Droid was freshly off the manufacturing line. Absent of any scratches, dents or even the slightest imperfections, the only thing missing is the new droid smell.
