The TC-series Protocol Droid is a protocol droid designed with a specialized vocabulator and an encyclopedic knowledge of languages and cultural information. It possesses a standardized humanoid design, available in a wide array of colors but all possessing the same basic form with its notably restrained range of movement. It also possesses a more advanced VerboBrain than the common 3PO-series that enables it to quickly analyze new languages and translate them into more well-known ones.
TC-808 "Bob" has developed a personality around the concept of a caretaker. It has assumed the needs of its owner to be its prime directive, even such tasks that have not been requested of it. This results in TC-808 "Bob" often flitting about in an attempt to meet any possible task before it is necessary, including menial tasks.
TC-808 "Bob" has been fitted with an electric defense grid on its outer shell that acts as a self-defense mechanism, and when active this TC-series Protocol Droid will give a protective shock to anyone who makes direct contact. This shock will temporarily incapacitate the droid as well for several seconds, as it reboots its own system in reaction to the power fluctuations.
