The Elder Holocron is a repository of knowledge and wisdom of the Force, recorded by an Elder Force user within the Brotherhood. Accessible only by activating a security mechanism internally that requires being keenly attuned to the Force, playback of this information once unlocked takes the form of a holographic image of the person who recorded it.
Sometimes called the 'Black Holocron' in reference to the black crystal used to create it, the Eos Holocron was created by Justinian Khyron in 15ABY to house knowledge crucial to the Brotherhood and the Star Chamber. Considered by some scholars to be a palimpsest due to the number of Sith Lords that have added to it, the crystal matrix is believed to have originally been a part of an older device, possibly one used by the ancient Sith Empire. Several past Grand Masters have added to the work of Lord Khyron as they worked to unlock the hidden secrets of the Holocron, including Jac Cotelin, Firefox, Darth Sarin, and Darth Ashen.
