Prototype: Dark Trooper Droid
The Dark Trooper Droid is a large humanoid-shaped Combat Droid of Imperial design. They are primarily covered in black and silver plating, with red photoreceptors. Dark Troopers are immensely strong, have thick armor able to withstand blaster fire, and have a rocket booster installed on the base of each foot. Their necks are unarmored. Moff Gideon's Imperial Remnant was known to deploy droids of this type.
5K-4R has developed a personality around the concept of a caretaker. It has assumed the needs of Caden Itharus to be its prime directive, even such tasks that have not been requested of it. This results in 5K-4R often flitting about in an attempt to meet any possible task before it is necessary, including menial tasks.
5K-4R has had every external component painted black as night, with attempts to minimize the brightness of external lights and features. This allows this Dark Trooper Droid to more easily blend into the shadows and darkness unseen.
5K-4R has been programmed with greatly improved combat protocols, allowing it to perform much better in multiple combat scenarios when compared to other Dark Trooper Droids.
This Dark Trooper Droid has been reinforced with an experimental layer of additional armor plating, providing 5K-4R unmatched durability compared to a standard Dark Trooper Droid.
5K-4R has had most of the factory installed safety limitations on operation removed, both in the hardware and software, allowing this Dark Trooper Droid to perform acts at the limits of its physical capabilities
