Revak Kur is one of the longest-serving members of Odan-Urr's Summit - currently he is our longest-serving Battleteam Leader, clocking in at 10 months of Summit service. More than this, however, Revak is a model example of a Battleteam Leader. Let's look at some stats here: He's organised 38 competitions in the past 10 months - thirty-eight! Most of these were for our House events, but let's think about this - that's almost four competitions a month, every month, for the entire tenure of his Summit service. He's put out a monthly report, without fail. He's a consistent and active presence on our IRC, our mailer, our Summit's Whatsapp group and contributes routine ideas and concepts to our Trello, which he then takes to fruition; we've seen his ideas for Comedy Month come alive and happen, for instance. Ooroo is also the largest and most active battleteam we have in HOU. In context, Ooroo is literally the only team we have that has posted 100% member participation in recent times - and that's with 11 members on the team. He also penned our Disciples of Baas wiki page and is continuously making minor edits to a wide variety of our other pages to make sure they're up to Summit standard for our major lore articles.

I could put fancy adjectives with all of this and make it sound prettier than it is, but I feel strongly that these numbers speak for themselves without any dressing: Revak Kur is the battleteam leader that you want on your Summit. I don't care what unit you're in, but with the ability to produce results like this, Revak is unquestionably the best battleteam leader I've ever seen, a consummate and constant professional. His example is sterling. His is the example I would give to any leadership manual. He is the example I would hold up to the light like Rafiki holds up baby Simba and says you're damn right this is our new King to the entire Pride Lands. Perhaps an award for this man is long overdue but this past month has proven his ability the best and greatest that I have ever seen. I'm thankful we have him on our Summit. He's a great guide for us, he provides well thought-out advice and I don't think I've ever seen him say a bad thing about another member ever. If he has, I've not seen it. He's an absolute trooper and has fought long and hard to see his team succeed. I would like to say now that he has done exactly that.

I would like to award Revak Kur a Steel Cross for his incredible and long-serving performance as a Battleteam Leader. Thank you, Revak. You've done an incredible job and we, the Summit, cannot thank you enough for it.

Primary reason

Since his promotion in March, Revak has continued to prove himself a stable and active leader in our Clan. As a member, he has participated in 16 competitions, including 3 from each of the Tales of New Tython and Sentinel Network Clan Events, and 9 competitions in the Feud with Clan Arcona, placing second in the Week 1 Fiction and Cooperative Fiction events and has earnt himself an Amethyst, an Emerald and three Ruby Crescents, and four Clusters of Ice.

As a leader, he has worked well with Seraphol to establish House Hoth’s lore, including the creation of the first part of the Butcher of Kamuekiko series of 3 competitions, detailing a savage menace that threatens both natives and Jedi at Fort Pernicar. This was supported by a fiction posted on our Discourse, setting the scene for this scenario. This is part of the overall Legends of Hoth arc, which he and Seraphol are writing together to feature various epic villains and scenarios that will be continuing the Hoth storyline, with the next installment concerning the Butcher to come soon. He has co-organized another 4 competitions for his House, helping with judging. His reports are on time, regular and informative, with a strong focus on member achievements and upcoming events.

For all of these efforts, I wish to award him with a Steel Cross, and I continue to look forward to what House Hoth’s future holds under his leadership.

Additional reasons

When Revak was appointed as my AED I gave him one goal. Create content, and a fictional storyline for Hoth. After tossing around a few ideas he came to me with an idea for a 4 stage event (The Butcher storyline) in which the winner from each stage would play an important role in the next. He also came to me with a critical idea for the story, which I cannot include here as it would be a bit of a spoiler. He has also began to formulate our next series of events that he has named Legends of Hoth.

In that same vein he explained his want for each member who participates and wins large House events to become a part of House lore. In effect making each winner build the lore themselves.

He has also acted in the traditional role as my Deputy by stepping in during a 3 week absence I had to take to avoid burnout and to focus on school. During this time he ensured that every new recruit we received was met with a welcome email and instructions on how to get their next elevation within 24 hours, most of the time it was within 12 hours. He has also served as my advisor on BTL appointments and has on more than one occasion offered criticism to ideas or to my general idiocy. This shows signs of the becoming of a great leader when they show a superior what they are screwing up, why, and how to fix it.

I can honestly say that Revak has fulfilled the roles I laid out for him as AED and more. He is always ready to take the reins of leadership when I am unable and the membership doesnt even realize it until something is said by us. He is fully capable of becoming QUA, but until then Ill be glad to throw awards at him. Congrats on a very well earned Steel Cross my brother!

Primary reason

Revak is my right hand man. When I appointed him as AED I made it clear that he would be my Lore guy for House Hoth. While I would retain primary oversight I would give him an overall idea and let him refine it. I have not been disappointed. WHen Hoth was formed I envisioned a war against a Harakoan Warlord to the jungles at our North. Revak has worked on the story, introducing an NPC (Lizmar) for us to develop down the line. THis NPC will grow with the Jedi of Hoth and eventually become a ground pounder version of Wedge Antilles. Revak has fleshed her out from a character that began as a simple farm girl to something that we are growing into an NPC leader of Hoth. She will grow through small story/competition arcs that center around her life as a village leader, then begin working with the KUDF as a defender against further attacks by unknown and possible hostile Harakoan tribes. He is not completed her story yet, but again this will be done in stages over periods of time when Hoth has the chance to run competitions between Clan and DJB events. This NPC will be on the scale and story of a normal member and will be able to be used by any member for their own story arcs.

In addition to her he has also began to introduce the villian for the future of House Hoth in the form of Nebulus. This Sith has corrupted several of our members and we are tasked with redeeming them. Just as with Lizmar being a major NPC to play a role in Hoth, Nebulous is being built to be out nemesis for a time. WHen we make moves to destroy slave rings she is there to ensure their escape, or to capture Jedi. Without going into too much detail she is being used as a story arc for a certain member who is going Dark Side, but will have a redemption arc. In a reversal from Lizmar, Nebulous will be Summit only as we have certain plans for her and either her death or her own redemption arc. I say unknown because with NPCs we tend to allow the winning member to decide their fate of life or death.

As for the Butcher events. This was to be our first House competition. Revak has turned this into a saga of epic proportions. His idea to ensure that the winner of each round would be a prominent figure in the next event has motivated several of our members. His ultimate goal for them however is that the overall winner of the saga will choose life or death for the Butcher and his loyal minions. In 15 years I have never seen an idea like this (may have been used in units I have not been part of), this unique idea has our members, particularly several of our Journeyman being a large part of our unique participants in the events.

As a leader Revak has had to step up several times in the past few weeks for me. I have had to train for a new job, and have recently had sickness that has kept me down. Revak has stepped up without a hiccup. If I had to go on an emergency LoA he would be there to answer questions abou competitions, create competitions, and to greet new members and advise them on how to advance until I could come back

When we were paired up to run Hoth, I was a bit anxious, however I can honestly say that if I resigned tomorrow that Revak would be able to step up to the plate as QUA and run this house with no one knowing there was a difference other than a name change on the roster. He is ready to take charge of the unit when my time to step down comes and make his mark on House Hoth.

Beyond that since his last reward he has earned 22 CI’s for 11,000 words of fiction, and he has organized 18 competitions. While he has been unable to participate in any competitions and such earn any rewards it is in part because his duty to help with House Lore. He is also quite active in both our clan mailing list, and Telegram. Lastly he helps me with ideas for our “Roadmap for Hoth”. This is the ideas, competitions, and timeframes we want to work on for the House and what direction it needs to go. For all of this I would like to award Revak a Steel Cross for his efforts in maintaining an active and engaging leadership in House Hoth.
