This is a bird. This is a good bird. The birdiest spook bird that ever birded.

And it is this bird that I am happy to put forward for promotion to Elder 3.

There is a lot I can say about Arch's efforts within the club, and even more than is apparent. Just looking at their dossier, you can see the work they've done. The positions they've held. The competitions they've entered! But that is half the picture. Just what's visible. Arch is a constant presence in the shadows of the backrooms. They are in on important conversations and never afraid to call out bull when it's seen or hold us to the standards we profess to measure. As seen in the myriad of awards they've received, Arch is constantly driving progress within the club, whether that's from the halls of the Shadow Academy or the shade of Council staff.

To put it bluntly, Arch has been working constantly for the entire time I've known them. That works has always been data-driven and by the numbers, but also with specific goals and outcomes in mind. I appreciate that work, no matter how it might deviate or the missteps along the way. The fact is, Arch recognizes when a mistake happens, acknowledges it, and grows from the situation. But doesn't wipe it away to be forgotten. As they say, "I better hear about this." And they do.

With tireless work, and meritorious service, I'm happy to see Arch advance further. Thank you for all your work and your efforts in the club.

Birds aren't real, but Arch is.

As both a friend, collaborator, and fellow member, there are very few people I think embody what it means to be a real member of the DJB. Arch embraces the weird, quirky fun of being in an online Star Wars club, and somehow balances that with an unshakeable efficiency, talent, and understanding of not just how to improve and advance our club, but to also maintain empathy and understanding without disconnecting from the day-to-day member experience. A lot of the DB can be chalked up to vibes and whims, but Arch sticks to the facts as best as one can. Forgetting the hours and hours of spreadsheet, data, and manual analytics work, he also understands WHY that work has to be done and how to then turn around and translate it to our members. It's such a hard line to balance, but Arch manages to do it. The combination of Data driven objectivity and empathetic understanding of how members will react and what's *actually*important to them. Honestly wish I could be more like that.

So, congrats Arch on this milestone. I won't take credit for being the first person to hire you to a staff after you called me out on my bullet points in my newspost. But, in truth, even after all this time, there are not many other people I'd share this rank and honor with, but you have more than earned it and I'm just glad I get to keep working and hanging out with you as a member, leader, and most importantly a very good friend.

Arch is the rarest of birds: he isn't just efficient, clever, and reliable, but he's also been all of those things--consistently, at a high level--for going on a decade now. Everyone who earns EL3 carves their own path through the DB jungle; Arch just flew right over it.

The bird done good.

No, really, lots of good, through a long career of hard work, being smart, and actually giving a damn about the club. I’ll try to avoid prematurely hatching with too many bird-related puns this time around, but his consistent initiative, leadership, vision, and frankly, downright annoying need to improve this club have led to a drastically better experience for every single member who has come to enjoy it.

Those are things that always should be recognized, and when you look at the bird’s long list of accomplishments (and the awards for doing them), it is easy to see how Arch came flying in past the EL3 XP threshold and that “lil bit more” of club service required to be elevated to such a high rank. There is a reason it is rare to see someone hit this point in the club, and to make it is something very worthy of celebrating.
