From SW Odin Vaaj Corsair Tenacious and understanding. Perhaps those characteristics were the ones I most admired from Templar Raiju Corsair, when I had a chance to help him as his Aedile and still, after I succed him now as the Quaestor of Tridens. He has strong willing and effort to enforce Tridens, equipping anything that Tridens should have as a substantial house to look at. He believed that Tridens would be one of the accountable houses in the DB and perhaps exceeding over others, to replay the glory in Tridens History. Of course, the goal would not be achieved in one night, and he made firm foundation to the new members as well as the veterans, blend as the next generation to help Tridens gaining its future victory. Eventhough he has not done with all projects, he made some priorities of the ideas and wished us, the members around him to work together for Tridens whether they were leaders or regular members. Tridens Chronicles and Tridens Wiki were two things of his bright ideas that already done quite good and would be maintained further along with Tridens' progress.Tridens as the Clan Tarentum Summits Sentinel, the royal guards was his novel and brilliant idea to give the members more roles to dwell in the House and Clan, as well as Tridens website that will be launched in the near future. He continuously pumps our spirit to care for Tridens and Tarentum eventhough he is now staying as a regular member in Tridens. He is always easy to give a hand to all that need his assistance. He has keen foresight, skillful experience for a leader and this makes him as one of the great assets Tridens is proud to have. He is always a good leader to us, as I discern in my native wisdom of leadership, when he was at front he has shown great examples, when he is in the midst currently of us, he is still motivating us and keeps initiative, and he will support to Tridens to achieve overall goals as high as shall be from the rear. Raiju, it is a great treasure for us to know you, to work with you and to have you as a housemate, a leader, one of the Corsair brothers and of course, a good friend in character and out of character. Thank you for what you have done for Tridens when you were the Roll Master and Quaestor and thank you also for what you have taught me when I was your Aedile. Tridens is very gratified to have you. We hope that this award can represent Tridens' gratefulness to recognize your dedicated effort. From Anshar- Odin has already touched on the numerous projects that Raiju began and/or completed during his tenure as Quaestor of Tridens. However, Raiju also served as an advisor to the Clan Summit, always more than willing to give feedback on various ideas. Raiju's leadership of the house actually began back when he was Rollmaster, and both the aedile and quaestor were struck by real life isses. He already received an Antenian Cross for that, but I believe it is worth mentioning again here because these actions build upon themselves. My apologies for this being so late. Tarentum remembers those who serve her well, and I hope that Raiju will return one day to a leadership position within the clan.

If this member hadn’t stepped up I do believe that HOU would not be quite the place that it is today. Raiju is a constant presence on IRC/googlegroups, discussions etc etc. This member has proven himself an asset to the house and I wholly agree that he is one of the more iconic members as his standing in the house is that profound.

Although a humble strike-team leader of the Knights of Allusis, Raiju has gone above the call of duty associated with his position and operated on the means of his own initiative (both valuable qualities I respect and expect from the leadership).

Raiju is always available to call on the membership, to get them enthusiastic and talkative, discussing goals, introducing new and fresh concepts. Participating ina wide range of activities from Battleteam leading, impressive vendetta participation, and house mustering.

His total count of awards in recent months are such: 16 Seals of Affliction, 5 Crescents (2 Amethyst, 2 Sapphire, 1 Topaz), 1 Dark Cross, 1 Scroll of Foundation, and 4 Clusters of Ice.

I and House Odan- Urr commend Raiju on his performance and thank him for his dedication to house and fellow Odanite. Raiju, you are appreciated more than you believe dude, congratulations and thank you for all you do, you are a true Odanite.- High Councillor Drodik Va’lence al’Tor

Raiju has been an outstanding asset in ensuring House Odan-Urr's prosperity throughout his membership within House Odan-Urr's ranks. I value him as a trustworthy individual and friend who's ideas and opinions are always something to be appreciated and admired. His hard work in the Shadow Academy is also something not to take lightly of. Throughout the months of 2012 and 2013, Raiju has excelled in fifteen individual courses, amassing an impressive two Dark Mavens in both Leadership and Philosophy as well as a Dark Savant in Leadership and Communication. This, coupled with his recent appointment to Professor of General Studies makes his Shadow Academy career an impressive feat to accomplish. Raiju has also shown incredible amounts of initiave and leadership dating back before his appointment as Battleteam leader of The Unifying Force following his career as the Battleteam leader of The Lightwalkers. He is one of the most vocal members of our community, always able and willing to share his opinions and to help us provide feedback through countless discussions through House Odan-Urr's googlegroup. During his terms in each of his leadership positions, Raiju has always been one to lead by example, as can be evidenced through his participation the the Horizons Vendetta. Which brings me to my next topic. Having amassed an incredible sixteen Seals of Affliction, as well as two Novae - gold and silver - Raiju had been the single most active member during this event. He has also been one of the most active members throughout the Tarentum/Odan-Urr feud entitled New Horizons. I will conclude by saying that Raiju is a friend to all, and is always willing to lend a hand wherever he is able. He is a great help to both his summit and membership and I value his friendship. His initiave and leadership are both things I admire about his character and personality, as does his efforts to make House Odan-Urr as good of a place as it can be with his seemingly unrelenting string of projects and ideas to improve upon the structure of his House. Congratulations dude, you've more than earned this.- AED Morotheri Mithfaron

Raiju first came to my attention during the Horizons Vendetta, and prior to this he has performed admirably. Since DGM Raken’s inspiring first report, however, Raiju has truly proven to be a driving force behind House Odan-Urr, exemplifying several of the traits that Raken himself does. He has taken the reigns of an exciting project utilizing both battleteams as social and philosophical groups, which is helping to diversify our House further from the main Brotherhood, which is becoming one of our greater strengths. He maintains strong contact between the Summit and our members, and a steady stream of activity ranging from competitions to IRC to an impressive number of Shadow Academy courses (8 more courses, 2 Mavens and a Savant since his Steel Cross in mid-November) and one of the stronger performances in our House for the first stage of the Dark Crusade. He has taken the initiative in spearheading a successful recruitment drive, that has so far attracted four enthusiastic returning members. He has taken the intiative and established us on Twitter and created an activity tracker gmail account so the Summit can more easily see and record what our members are submitting. He is always present to discuss ideas or issues in the House, and his opinions and ideas are well considered and appreciated.- Rollmaster Elleron Morakei

This award is long overdue. Raiju put his heart and soul into Tarentum as its Aedile. He pitched the idea for Ravaged, our long-running competition series. Then he planned out the story line, wrote the prologue and the first chapter, and organized the competitions. It went smoothly for the most part, and it was one of the first big cohesive events we've done in a long time. While doing all of that he also managed our Master/Student Program, took the initiative to email some of our old friends in the Rogues and tried successfully in a couple of cases to convince them to come back, emailed new members as they came in, and helped keep up on advancement for our Journeymen. Many of these things he did on his own initiative, which is one of the things I admire the most about him: he notices something that needs to be done and he just goes and does it. He has a strong leadership sense and the experience to back it up. It's a terrific quality in an Aedile, although at times I felt he was giving me a run for my money. For his several months of sustained, intensive and above-the-call-of-duty efforts as our Aedile I am proud to award a Grand Cross of the Dark Side.

Tarentum was a unit on the verge of closing, with record low participation in major competitions and a source of near constant complaints to the Dark Council. There was a very real discussion that perhaps Tarentum shouldn’t be given another chance, perhaps it was a waste of random joins and a caustic environment. It was against this backdrop that Raiju was appointed to Consul.

The decision was not an easy one. While he had a strong application, so did many others. But Raiju’s fresh ideas and different perspective seemed a good fit to help rebuild Tarentum in a different light. Raiju’s plan called for a rebuilding of leadership from the ground up, and rebuilding the image of the Clan from the inside out. By driving membership towards a vision they created, rather than one established by members of Tarentum from years past, Raiju helped to return Tarentum to today’s Brotherhood.

Raiju served five months as Consul, through which time he organized ten competitions and participated in a half dozen. However, many of these competitions were not mere flash games or minor one off competitions. Raiju’s proposal called for a change in culture and a change in attitude of the unit towards greater participation, and he enacted this quickly by organizing, writing, and running the Lazarus Reflex , a series of three competitions that involved two fiction prompts and a trivia competition, complete with a Clan storyline involving the Yridia system. Raiju recognized that Tarentum wasn’t motivated by one-off competitions with a simple prompt, but knew he could draw his members in with detailed events. In addition, Raiju wrote and ran the first chapter of their multi-part competition, Reanimated, and though due to health reasons he has handed it off to his successors in the summit, his direction inspired the subsequent chapters.

In addition to his singular accomplishments, where Raiju really shined was in motivating his unit to be one of our top participating units. Tarentum absolutely blew away all other units in membership participation in the DGM’s first Activity Review, where it had virtually single member of the Clan participate in at least one competition (they had a 98% participation ratio). Most other units in the same time period had well below 70% participation. Tarentum was also the fasted growing unit in the reporting period, and thus it is no surprise that they have opened their first House, a proposal that Raiju began before stepping down. His leaders ran scores of competitions under his direction, with Tarentum having run some eighty competitions recently.

Raiju’s activity and leadership directly lead to Tarentum’s resurgence. It is no exaggeration to say that without him, Tarentum would have closed. If Raiju had been an ordinary Consul, if he had not been up to the challenge, we would have been discussing the closure of Tarentum last week… Instead, we elevated one of its battleteams to House status. That is what Raiju has done for Tarentum, and for the Brotherhood. For the entire Brotherhood, thank you for your effort, Raiju!

Additional reasons

I'm not going to talk about the individual competitions coordinated or entered by Raiju Kang; I'm also not going to talk about the length of time he was Consul; Mav has done so, Farrin has done so. Instead, I want to talk about his effect upon myself, and the Clan.

Prior to Tarentum's probation, I was playing ToR and staying in touch over IRC and such; however, I was generally in what I like to call "semi-retirement." I have never turned and walked away from Tarentum, and have always held myself to the standard that I will be involved in the Clan as needed, and when needed. It pains me to say that, when Scion needed me, I didn't come running. Instead, with his removal and Tarentum's probation, I knew I needed to work with my Summit however I could. I started emailing people, I started trying to help lay the foundation for getting ourselves back on our feet.

And then came Raiju.

It's no secret that, at times, Tarentum has had a very confrontational stance with the Dark Council. Despite the fact that we are very pro-Club; despite the fact that we believe in this organization; despite the fact that we have often tried to lead from the front, we are passionate, fiery, and fierce. This sometimes leads us to be oppositional and even offensive in our goal to defend Tarentum above all else. Raiju was a part of Tarentum before his return, so he knew this. Raiju was told very clearly that, if any of the veterans and Elders were being toxic, he could have us removed; I know that even I was on the radar.

And yet, when Raiju came in, he started trying to build bonds, and help HEAL wounds, as opposed to lopping off "infected limbs." He knows Tarentum's history is important, but needs to be moved forward into the now. As he built his Summit, he and I grew in our own bond that had been built years prior. He relied on me as friend and advisor, and used the benefit of active veterans and Elders to motivate the Clan. He never told me to back off, he never told me to stop trying to help, and knew that I would follow his lead. He took everything he was given, and despite growing health concerns, tried to help direct everyone into their best role in gaining our correct heading. He built what he could, he directed what he couldn't, and let the WHOLE Clan built our future together.

The reality is, Raiju didn't do everything, because he didn't have to. A good leader doesn't stand at the front and rope their followers, and drag them along to where they need to go; rather, a good leader tells people what's in front, what's behind, finds the right course, and invites others to follow towards mutual benefit. Raiju does not micromanage, he does not drive others away to create things himself. And, if not for his health and career choices needing his greater attention, Raiju would have stayed longer, and I believe he'd have done greater things.

Raiju has added his name to a long list of credible, exceptional leaders in Tarentum, and I believe he deserves acceptable recognition and reward for his efforts. I add my own emphasis to the already impressive voices of the Deputy Grand Master and Consul of Tarentum in seeking and encouraging every level of reward for the services of Raiju Kang to Tarentum -- services still not finished, as he helps to initiate our new Grey Faction.

You have my thanks, Raiju. And know that you've done a good job.

Master Zsarion Bloodfyre, 2015-08-30 17:45:42 UTC

When Raiju came back to Tarentum to take over as Consul, the Clan was in likely the roughest patch it has ever been in. There was a huge amount of resentment toward the Dark Council that had given serious thought to closing us down and the Grand Master and Deputy Grand Master who had just placed us on a do-or-die probation. Into that mix stepped Raiju Kang as the new Consul; though he had been a Tarenti before (serving as Aedile in the past) he had left to go to Odan-Urr prior to his Consulship. I’ll admit to being concerned that was just the spark that would ignite the powder keg Tarentum had devolved into at that point.

I’ll admit this now - I severely underestimated Raiju then, and I regret it. He calmed the stormy waters within and began to rebuild the connections without. He had a lot of big ideas for what he wanted to do with the Clan to bring it into the modern Dark Jedi Brotherhood - because it had been too long stuck in the past and isolated from others - and I was honored he wanted me to help him achieve his vision as the Clan’s Rollmaster. He turned the Clan around by getting buy-in from the entire unit, supporting his subordinate leadership, and pushing Tarentum to figuratively and literally get back into the game. He led the Clan Summit in reestablishing Tarentum policies and ensuring the day to day minutiae of Clan leadership was being executed flawlessly in ways that we simply hadn’t been doing. Without Raiju, I have no doubt in my mind that we would not have come out of probation; put another way, without Raiju, Tarentum would have been closed.

What a lot of people don’t know, though, is Raiju was helping lead the resurgence of Tarentum while at the same time battling serious real life issues. To me, his actions as Consul by themselves are noteworthy and definitely deserving of accolades; when you couple them with the context of what he was dealing with as he was doing them, however, it’s truly remarkable. I’m honored to call Raiju a friend and I was honored to work on his Summit. Raiju asked that I don’t award him a medal or anything for his actions; it’s kind of cliche that whenever a leader steps down they’re given a token of our appreciation for their work (I guess our version of the watch that so many people seem to get in real life upon retirement). However, this to me feels like quite literally the least we could do to have a lasting testament of our appreciation of what he’s accomplished for Tarentum. Thank you, my friend.

Rhys, or Raiju as I better remember him, has been with us for some time now since transferring back in. His welcoming and friendly presence is the type we embrace here in Odan-Urr. His activity though speaks for itself. Since his last award, Rhys has participated in 58 competitions of which he earned 1 Bronze Nova, 1 Crescent with Ruby Star, 2 Crescents with Amethyst Stars, and 2 Crescents with Emerald Stars. For his contributions in large-scale Club events, he’s earned himself 8 Seals of Discord, 6 Seals of Visions, and 1 Seal of Enmity. Through his gaming activity, he has earned 107 Clusters of Fire. He’s earned 18 Clusters of Ice with 4996 words of fiction. From his artistry, he’s earned 14 Clusters of Graphite. He even has a stint as Battleteam leader of Saxon of Scholae Palatinae.

Rhys, thank you for your continued contributions to the clan and the Brotherhood at large. This is a Well deserved Grand Cross!
