Archpriest Impetus Korin: Archpriest Impetus Korin has served two Houses (HAD & HC), but her faith in CSP has never changed despite serving a multitude of positions. Her commitment and dedication is shown by her valor on the battlefield as she rallies her fellow members to give their best. Waging war against the Clans of the Dark Brotherhood and the Yuuzhan Vong, Impetus placed herself as one of CSP’s finest warriors. For her service and dedication to the Dark Brotherhood and CSP, I, Grand Master Sarin, award the Sapphire Blade to Epis Archpriest Impetus Korin.

Since his last recognition (a Steel Cross in February of 2020), Zentru'la has participated in 83 competitions, earning 1 Crescent with Diamond Star, 4 Crescents with Ruby Stars, 9 Crescents with Amethyst Stars, 3 Crescents with Sapphire Stars, 2 Crescents with Emerald Stars, and 1 Crescent with Topaz Star. In particular, Zentru'la made very strong contributions to Taldryan in the past two Vendettas. In GJW XIV in 2020, he earned 2 Gold Novae, and 1 Silver Nova as part of the Taldryan run-on team. In RoS: Escalation, he earned a Gold Nova and two Silver Novae, and participated in every bin.

To get a general overview of Zentru'la's activity over the past eighteen months: In gaming, he's completed 2 PVP activities, earning 3 Clusters of Fire. In writing, he's submitted 35940 words of fiction and 1648 words of run-on posts, for a total of 91 Clusters of Ice. In graphics, he's earned 67 Clusters of Graphite for his competition entries. In the SHadow Academy, he's completed 34 courses, earning 13 degrees.

Zentru'la has also made his presence felt on the leadership front. He took over the Tavros BTL position from Bale last year, and served for a total of 5 months before the Clan Summit dissolved the BT. He's run three competitions open to all DB members. He's also been an active force in the Taldryan Story Group, regularly participating in discussions about the development of Taldryan's fictional lore and plotlines. Most notably, he's taken the "Vornskr Battalion" auxiliary division and run with it (including creating its Wiki page and featuring it regularly in his fiction), making it the most prominent of Taldryan's fictional divisions.

For his ongoing contributions to Taldryan and the Brotherhood as a whole, I hereby nominate Zentru'la for the Sapphire Blade. Congratulations!

You'd think that when one becomes an Elder of the Brotherhood, one would decide to slow down, chill out, reduce the number of duties and activity that they do.

I'm happy to say that this is not the case with Zentru’la. He's the type that will not go in unless he gives it his 110%, which is admirable for a member of the club that has been around as long as he has. My case in point? He holds two positions as Praetor to the Voice, and a Shadow Academy Proffesor, though there will be more on his work in those positions from the Voice and former Headmistress respectively.

In terms of activity; Zentru’la has competed in 40 competitions since his last award, and has earned the following;

Crescent with Ruby Star x4 Crescent with Amethyst Star x2 Crescent with Sapphire Star x3 Crescent with Emerald Star x3

Last from me, he was a big component on Taldryan gaining its identity as a Republic. He was one of the vocal voices that pushed for the Clan having a theme of its own to identify within our little pocket of the Brotherhood.

So, from me, Zen. Thank you for all your hardwork, and enjoy giving (I'm assuming Madakado) a new shiny stabby thing!

Zen jumped onto Voice Staff with much gusto, something I remain eternally grateful for. With our continued backlog of projects. Zen remains a driving voice in ensuring all of #TeamVoice continues to push forward in its many duties for this club. It is thanks to his help, several major projects have gotten completed, along side others still in progress.

In terms of general Voice Duties, Zen has been a helpful eye on all of our queues, and involved on the discussions for the many sheets that come through. For sheet reviews, he has processed 93 sheets for approval (~13% of all manual sheet approvals in this time) along side some 22 remands. He is also active on discussion threads even when the sheet isn't one he is maining for processing. His reviews also come in handy with the competition queue, verifying those word counts, and upon occasion helping process Role Playing clusters from discord.

His main strengths however remain in the realm of project work. Thanks to his efforts we were finally able to fill out the feats projects, and review all 463 active feats in our system. His efforts helped cut weeks of time it would have taken for me to do it alone.

His second major venture was the refresh of all of our club’s non-member NPC characters. This included reviewing old fiction for those deceased in the narrative, ensuring they each had proper and expected owners in our system (be it factions, clans, or voice staff owned for things like SA training). He also went and reviewed them for invalid sheets, helping ensure all of these NPCs were up to snuff with the current set of available options. This covers 201 faction/voice-owned sheets along with all of the Clan owned sheets.

While there are still many things still being worked on, Zen’s efforts on Voice Staff has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated. He has truly helped improve the fiction related activities for this club, and has been a massive aid to my own sanity.

Congrats Zen, and thank you for your continued efforts!

The nicest thing Ciara did for me was leave an excellent staff in place, with Zentru'la as one of the highlights. Although I have only worked with him for a month or so, Zen is already a model of the direction I want to take the Shadow Academy. He does his baseline professor job, grading 14 courses since his last recognition, but he also leaves the SA to take his subject area to the members. Zen is the only SA staff to issue reports, which cover writing advice and best practices, and the only one to run competitions for his subject area. He genuinely cares about writing in this club and is proactive about raising both the quality and quantity of it, as attested by his Voice work. Although I'm afraid I don't have much to contribute to an award just yet, I look forward to many more recommendations to come.

Zentru’la, as I've stated many, many times now as I've written reccs for him, is awesome. He does so much that sometimes I'm not sure even he realises it.

To put this into perspective, Zen has participated in 18 competitions since his last recognition, graded 42 SA courses, and earned the following awards;

Crescent with Diamond Star x1

Crescent with Amethyst Star x1

Crescent with Sapphire Star x1

Crescent with Topaz Star x1

But that's not all. In planning for the Taldryan event, Zen created a randomizer for a Pirate Fleet that we used for our most recent Clan event.

I'm happy to award him a SB for his work. Congratulations, Zen!

Zen immediately distinguished himself as one of the most proactive members of the HM staff by presenting me with a plan to overhaul his department shortly after I became HM. So far he has kept on schedule and developed two courses, Introduction to Fiction Writing (originally published as Writing Studies) and Combat Writing. Between them, this involved writing just shy of 4000 words of course notes as well as developing exams and extensive answer keys. I have received numerous comments from the membership at large commenting on the improvement in quality between Zen's Introduction to Fiction Writing and the course that it replaced.

Additionally, Zen has authored two reports that function as mini-courses in writing, including one on filter words and another on Glenn Gers' story planning technique. This is especially appreciated given how easily forgotten the SA can be when faculty focus exclusively on grading courses instead of promoting their departments and subject areas.

Since his last recognition, Zen has graded 42 exams with an average turnaround of 11 hours. This includes 10 submissions to the Test of Wisdom, the most time-consuming course in the SA to grade. In these instances, Zen gives extensive, actionable feedback to member-written fiction and then reevaluates the piece after the member makes revisions. This is essentially a private writing clinic available to any DB member on their own time and one of the best contributions the SA can make to improving a member's writing skills.

I'm delighted to have him on staff and look forward to his continued innovations in the Department of Writing.

Supposedly, Augustus bragged that he had found Rome a city of brick, and left it a city of marble. And that’s more or less where Zen is heading with regards to the Department of Writing. That department was in rough shape when he took it over. Most courses dated back years, over a decade in at least a few cases, and they had received minimal updates. Ciara and Erinyes had big plans for the department but real life removed them from the SA before they get could get very far along. Zen took on responsibility for the project, developed his own take on that plan, revised it again for the new HM, and has kept pace with my evolving megalomania vision for the SA.

In addition to the two courses recognized by his last Sapphire Blade, Zen was the sole author on Character Development. He developed an outline and wrote the 2041-word course notes and the exam with minimal assistance from me. On the contrary, Zen had to navigate our differing ideas and expectations for a Character Development course and revise his initial draft accordingly. The resulting course provides general principles and actionable advice that apply to almost every solo fiction, co-op fiction, run-on, or ACC match that a member would want to write. The quality of the course notes and the exercise-drive exam both reflect Zen’s professional experience as an educator and his personal experience with the subject matter and his extensive research through books, articles, and videos written by professional authors and screenwriters.

I like to think that every course we release is polished and professional, but sometimes it takes a while to get there from the first draft. Zen’s drafts, however, are always within a few Markdown tags of publishable, significantly reducing my workload as HM and allowing me to focus my energy on SA-level innovations. A mixed blessing, perhaps, as he would be getting an award for two new courses if not for one of Arch’s bright ideas bogging down the process. I suppose I’ll have to save that for my fourth SB rec for him.

The chin. The myth. The legend. Zentru'la continues to make his presence felt in Taldryan, as both a valued and outspoken member of our community, and a solid performer who keeps up a steady stream of activities. In GJW XVI, Zen submitted entries to every bin and took top-ten placements in no less than 6 events, including a Silver Nova for Phase I fiction.

More stats for the stat bear. Since his last recognition (a Sapphire Blade on February 28th), Zentru'la has organised 1 and participated in 50 competitions. He's also participated in 7 gaming activities and 11 fiction and RP activities, for a total of 7819 words written, and passed 2 Shadow Academy courses. These activities have earned him a Silver Nova (mentioned above), a Crescent with Diamond Star, 3 Crescents with Ruby Stars, 7 Crescents with Amethyst Stars, 6 Crescents with Sapphire Stars, 4 Crescents with Emerald Stars, 1 Crescent with Topaz Star, 12 Clusters of Ice, 7 Clusters of Earth, 12 Clusters of Graphite, a Dark Side Scroll, and a Seal of Loyalty.

In total, as a member of Taldryan, Zen has racked up 4439 XP since his last recognition. He's also been working as a Shadow Academy Professor, which will be addressed separately.

Congratulations, Zen!

Zen,

You've been one of our core staples for longer than I've been a member of Taldryan. You're always there to support and throw in ideas when asked, or even just as you see them needed. You aren't afraid to throw competing thoughts or comments even when they conflict with others, which is something I extremely appreciate as it shows different perspectives and gives additional insights that might not otherwise have been seen.

Even in recent discussions around the next lore developments for the Republic, directions of several upcoming storylines, and your direct contributions to our starship reward, you've done nothing but demonstrate time and time again why you're both a General in DB rank as well as fictionally with the Vornskr's.

Even helping out our members with their fiction writing and critiquing, you always go above and beyond at every possible step. Keep it up, brother. Though I don't have to say that, as I know you already will.

Congratulations!
