Sight is one of the guys who makes up the core of a unit. You know what I’m talking about -- guys who are reliable, who are always looking for something to do. Sight does it all, gaming and writing with the best of him, providing a constant presence on IRC, and providing leadership from the middle-tier ranks. Sight has more than 1,500 Clusters and 9 Pendants of Blood since his last merit medal, and he just tore through Operation: Figureheads, winning the whole competition. He’s one of Arcona’s most talented ACCers, and he’s mentored a number of our younger members.

The leadership mid-level Equites provide is one of the most underrated factors in a unit’s success, and Sight provides it in copious amounts. He’s been a boon to Esca in Nighthawk, and has demonstrated himself to be more than capable of filling Andrelious’ enormous shoes as Rollmaster. I’m really excited to see what he accomplishes in his new gig. His exploits of the past few months have been thrilling, and he has done more than enough to earn this Grand Cross. Congrats, Sight!

Man’s got an eyepatch IRL. Totally enough reason to get some medal swag.

In all seriousness, though, Sight amazes me. He has never once stopped moving since he came to us. To say that he’s an utterly insane gamer just doesn’t touch it. To say that he’s constantly here, present, and active among his clanmates just doesn’t touch it. To say that he’s a wrecking ball in competitions and the champion of our recent Clan event just doesn’t touch it. He’s not perfect, but damn if he isn’t one of our best, most stalwart players. He made it into the top half of the Fading Light ACC bracket, fighting his way through 7 ACC matches up against some of the best writers in the club for an impressive total of 14 posts. He has innumerable amounts of Clusters of Fire and Pendants of Blood, as some of the others will tell you. Besides that, he’s ceaselessly supporting his Battleteam, his House, and his Clan, once as a mentor and member, now as our new Rollmaster.

The Grand Cross is used to reward someone who acts as a pinnacle of activity amidst their brethren as well as someone who demonstrates great drive and ingenuity in their position. I can confidently say that though Sight is new to the Rollmaster’s chair, his advancements and innovations for his work are simply stunning, and he has more than displayed the kind of exertion worthy of accolades.

Congratulations, Sight. You’ve more than earned this, and I can’t wait to see what else you’ll accomplish (and hopefully, you’ll be able to see it too :P). Stay epic, my friend.

Aedile of House Galeres

Master Ruka Tenbriss Ya-ir, 2014-09-18 00:37:58 UTC

I am honoured to be recommending Sight for this Grand Cross of the Dark Side. He has been an active and dedicated member of Clan Arcona and House Galeres. Showing a constant level of activity and devotion to the club and continuing to develop not only himself but those around him and getting them involved.

Since joining the house Sight has been active and driven always asking for work to complete. Always offering assistance to new and old members alike to help them develop their character or even just expand their knowledge of the brotherhood. Recently in the Clan Wide event that myself and Valtiere ran it was a common sight to see Sight participating in everything, leading from the front without a single complaint. Throwing everything he had into the event without any nudge or push towards doing so. Truly having a huge impact on the event and the way the balance swayed not to mention the medals he racked up. Now Sight has stepped up once more, inside of the Clan to fulfill the role of Clan Rollmaster, putting the work he has done or others to a position he now has.

Congratulations on this medal Sight, your hard work and activity has been outstanding lately and of the top form. I look forward to seeing what you bring to your new position and the new members coming into the Brotherhood.

Quaestor of House Galeres

Cethgus Tiberius Entar, 2014-09-18 00:38:15 UTC

I don’t even know where to begin with Sight Nortorshin. This man has been the shining light in Nighthawk and Arcona as of late from the sheer amount of gaming he has accomplished so far this quarter, to his ascension to Clan Rollmaster. With an astounding 1,526 Clusters of Fire this quarter alone, he shot straight to the top of the GMRG leaderboards the second he hit GMRG X. If general gaming wasn’t enough, Sight has managed to participate in an astounding 22 competitions since his last merit, 3 of which being all the Nighthawk competitions thus far (placing in all three!). Medals and recognition, galore! Sight has also managed to net himself a total of 9 Pendants of Blood for various gaming activity, either through max leveling characters in D3, top participation in Gorefest, or completing club first achievements through the FIST office. As if all the above wasn’t enough, 12 crescents showing his high activity with competitions are under his belt, complemented by 8 Seals of the Crusader for Dark Crusade participation and 20 Clusters of Ice for fiction excellence. This man is a Brotherhood wide sensation!

Within Nighthawk, Sight has assisted in creating information for the Nighthawk wiki pages by writing drafts of fictional combat action that will be implemented to give a better feel of the BT and crew as well as mentoring Nighthawk’s very own Battleteam Sergeant to Dark Jedi Knight and receiving his first Scroll of the Master for it. He is on IRC daily, always offering a helping hand to members both in and out of the Clan when it comes to gaming or cluster farming in Diablo 3 and has recently accomplished a perfect submission count in the recent Operation: Figureheads by having a 100% participation in all events AND coming in 1st overall for individual placement.

Everything listed above shows exemplary activity that sets him above his peers. The fact that he is able to do all of this while also handling two children under the age of 6 at home and being a full time student is nothing less than a seriously impressive feat. So all in all, Sight Nortorshin is more than deserving of the Brotherhood’s highest medal of merit for all the hard work and dedication he puts forth to his Battleteam, House, Clan and Brotherhood. Thank you so much for what you do, my friend. Keep up the phenomenal effort and enjoy your first, but hopefully not last, Grand Cross of the Dark Side.

A Grand Cross of the Dark Side is a very important merit medal. It says to everyone within the Clan and Brotherhood ‘this member has shown exemplary activity’ since his last reward. Today, I am honored to award a second to Mako Henymory for his continued service and participation in House Galeres and Clan Arcona.

Since his last recognition, he has organized nine competitions, Co-Organized another two competitions, submitted to forty eight (48) competitions, captured twenty two (22) PvP Matches, logged ninety one (91) PvE Activities, and completed four Fiction Activities. He has collected six crescents (2 Cr-R, 3 Cr-S, 1 Cr-E), earned one Pendant of Blood, racked up five hundred ninety two (592) Clusters of Fire, two hundred nineteen (219) Clusters of Earth, and four Clusters of Ice (2065 words!). In addition, he has completed seven Shadow Academy courses.

Since late October, he has not only been an extremely active member. He now splits his time between Clan Arcona and the Brotherhood as a Magistrate to the Fist and a Battle Team Sergeant for the Nighthawk. I cannot speak to his work in the FIST’s office, but I can tell you that he provides an opposing view and balance to our new Battle Team Leader - a Yin to the Yang, you might say. He has helped create both Brotherhood-wide and Battle Team specific competitions in both roles; helping others find ways to be active & participate.

I’m so thankful for how much time and energy you give us. This is but a small token of thanks (I’ll ship you Turel via UPS later). Keep up the tremendous work!

Braecen Kaeth
Quaestor of Galeres

Additional reasons

Mako, also known as Sight, is one of the pillars of his household, fixture and beacon both. He as been a cornerstone to Galeres as one of its active members and occasional leaders ever since he first joined it, and remains as such to this day.

Since his last merit alone, a mere three months ago, Mako’s activity output has been jaw-dropping. He’s participated in over forty five competitions just in that time, while organizing several others, including a recurring trivia series for his clanmates, geared towards helping the clan’s Journeymen. He has also become involved with our Mentorship Program along with a few other individuals, and in the process begun not only improving the project internally but also beginning to encourage his other members and branch out into further Brotherhood activities. He has strived to involve his brothers in sisters in various gaming endeavors, both as a FIST Magistrate and as a regular gamer, and also gives back to the Battleteam he’s so long been a part of as its Sergeant, assisting in reports, competition grading, and email hype.

It is for these copious amounts of activity — which his Quaestor and Aedile will further detail — and for his work in aiding both Arcona and the Brotherhood as a whole that we offer this Grand Cross. Congratulations, Mako.

Consul of Clan Arcona

Mako Henymory continues to impress not only in his activity, but in what he offers to others within Galeres and Arcona. Leadership is often measured in days, weeks and months by title, sometimes we forget what it means to be a leader among peers. Mako has never failed to lead not only by example in his own actions, but by encouraging others to push themselves beyond the limits they set for themselves. He has done this by providing competitions for members to participate in, he is always available by Telegram (and formerly IRC) for members who need help, or have questions.

During my time as Battleteam Leader for the Nighthawk, Mako was instrumental in the development and use of the Nighthawk’s special forces team the Talon’s, including creation of statistics, personality and wikipedias for the NPC’s. These elements continue to be used regularly within Nighthawk’s Run-Ons and Fiction by the Battleteam’s Members.

For your contributions to your Battleteam, your House and Clan, I’m thankful to be able to reward Mako with the Grand Cross of the Darkside.

Oooh Mako, you glorious bastard. A pillar of gaming activity for Nighthawk and Galeres, Mako is always ready to jump in to throw down in Destiny and other games. His time spent on Telegram engaging his fellows is impressive and sometimes scary, but always fun. Our time on the Nighthawk together with you as my Commandant was, well, magicial. It still haunts my dreams some nights. Mako was a great source of inspiration and knowledge when I took over Nighthawk from Uji and helped direct me in the molding and development of the Team. A lot of the activity and impressive track record for the BT is a credit to Mako’s commitment and drive. You made my time as Captain all the more fun and interesting and for that I’m happy to help show my appreciation for him with this Grand Cross.

Good job man.

Commander Mako, as you can see above, he’s a ton of help! He’s active, social, helpful, and a great leader. He has been working with me on anything and everything to make sure that not only Nighthawk is satisfied, but also the house, clan, and DJB as a whole are all happy! He’s played a vital role by being my second in command by helping me out whenever I need something. He is always quick to respond and has a lot of the answers. He even has the humility to say when he doesn’t know, and will always come back to you with the answer as soon as possible. He’s activity alone is merit enough for this award, as it was laid out above. Mako has had a direct positive impact on both my leadership and the Nighthawk, and he continues to drive the Brotherhood forward from his other positions as well. Thank you for all you do for us Mako! Congratulations, Mako!

Mako's been a busy boy since receiving his first sacramental award back in November. For starters, he's participated in 78 competitions of all types, while organizing or co-organizing another 5 of his own. He's won 2 Crescents with Sapphire Stars, 4 Crescents with Emerald Stars, 5 Crescents with Topaz Stars, and 2 Crescents with Quartz Stars.

Mako's one of those rare members who does everything. He's earned 3 Clusters of Ice for both solo and run-on writing. He's earned 7 Clusters of Graphite, in additional to showing off plenty of non-awardable art in the Satele Shan and DB Art Chat Telegram channels. As a gamer, he's taken home 104 Clusters of Fire and 49 Clusters of Earth. In the Shadow Academy, Mako's passed 5 courses and earned a Dark Maven in Flight and a Dark Savant in Warfare. Most impressively, he's one of only 29 members to hold the Dark Sage degree in Warfare, a fitting capstone for someone who's long since established himself as one of the DJB's top gamers.

I was lucky enough to count Mako as a mentor during my first DB leadership position as his Aedile. Though it has fallen to me to harass the members of Satele Shan to "Get it! Get it!" these days, Mako continues to serve as a role model for all of our members. May this Grand Cross be only the latest step in an inexorable march to the top ranks of the Brotherhood.

Alethia Archenksova,
Quaestor, Satele Shan

Mako has continued to be a leader within the ranks for COU since ending a very successful term as House Shan Quaestor. We're lucky to have members like him who can always be counted on to show up for an event, enrich the community with their presence or just sit back and game with. He is one of the Clan's biggest cheerleaders and has a direct impact on the entire unit.

Thank you for everything you do my friend! Please accept this small token for our gratitude.

Mako has been a wonderful contributor to the community of Odan-Urr. This has taken many forms including drawing wonderful sushi for a clanmate, writing character development fiction that he shared with the Clan, and being a constant presence in the Clan chat. It is quite wonderful to see such an active person also care about the community itself. Well deserved!

Congratz!

Mako Henymory returned from the rogues to Arcona’s fold and immediately dove into the available offerings from his House and Clan. He participated in and placing in a House event that his Aedile will expand on in the support requisition. But he also took the time to encourage other members to do the same, actively competing and driving participation within his House by guiding members through playing Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm, discussing GFX entries with fellow artists and supporting members to participate even if they were unsure of their capabilities.

To coincide with this, since his last recognition he has organized 1 competition, participated in 80, completed 5 PvP matches, 20 PvE, completed 1058 words of Fiction, passed 3 SA courses and earned 1 C:DS, 1 C:RS, 4 C:ST, 5 C:ES, 1 C:TS, 6 Pendants of Blood, 209 CF's, 2 CI's, 30 CE's, 11 CG’s

On behalf of Arcona as both a member and member of your summit, thank you for what you do Mako and your contributions to both House Qel-Droma and Arcona.

Additional reasons

Since joining Arcona in January, Mako has proven himself to be an asset to the Clan. He hit the ground running, taking third place in the long-running [Shadowport in Shambles] despite joining relatively late in the event. Since then, he has continued to be steadily active while managing to juggle a host of RL responsibilities. I truly do not know when this man has time to sleep.

In addition to his participation, Mako is also willing to serve as a resource for newer members. His 13 years in the club give him a valuable insight into the DJB, which he is willing to share.

It is for this reason that I am proud to recommend Mako for a Grand Cross. Congratulations!
