Varuk is a tall Umbaran male who stands at six and a half feet. Like most others of his species Kru is lithe and his skin appears a bright pale white where it is free of scars, although they are extensive. From head to toe, this Umbaran's body is devoid of any hair. Varuk has sunken eye-sockets and brows cracked with heavy usage of Sith Alchemy, his eyes a set of obsidian pupils conquered by crimson-red irises.
Technology integrated into body runs from his head to the chest, where Varuk's chest cavity has been largely reconstructed with cybernetics. In place of his right forearm is a matte-black-plated cybernetic replacement. There are several deep chest cavity burns adorning the upper half of his chest, stretching up and curling around the base of his neck.

With severe burns to his body and confinement to a suit of armor or life support apparatus for the rest of his life, Kru experiences near constant pain. It displays itself in both physical and emotional ways, although the level of pain he experiences and which form it takes varies on a day to day basis.
This endless pain, whether it be the tugging at his burned flesh by his suit or mask, or the constant reminder he can never live without them, has caused Varuk to disconnect from his softer emotions. It is a reminder of what once was, and will forever be for the Umbaran.
Varuk's experiences on both sides of the Force have taught him that it matters not if you are a follower of the light or the dark. To him, the unending cosmic force that holds everything together craves equal balance on both sides, extinguishing whatever life necessary to obtain it when that balance is upset.
Although it helps sustain him, Kru despises the Force because of the wretched waste of life and to that end sees it only as a tool to be manipulated - eventually destroyed. Because of this he can follow neither side fully, using both Jedi and Sith techniques to further the ideology that the Force must come to an end.
Varuk has several distinct personality traits that form his being, first and foremost being a rather cynical and stoic individual, particularly in the company of or when dealing with Force-sensitives. This Umbaran is equally stubborn as he is stoic and occasionally sarcastic, going so far as to disobey minor orders to prove a point or his abilities in a given situation. These traits have him seen as subordinate and brash with superiors and friends alike - however he never apologizes for who he truly is.
During his time as Keeper of the Holocrons and at the Shadow Academy, Varuk was exposed to a myriad of Sith knowledge. This led him to form a deep obsession with the teachings of Ancient Sith Magic, Sith Alchemy and Mechu-Deru although he does not adhere to the Sith ways.
Varuk's obsession runs particularly deep with imbuing these Ancient Sith powers into his native Umbaran technology, and can often be found conducting research or tinkering with technical processes most would find unnatural and unnerving - leading to people to steer clear of this alchemist altogether.
If Varuk "Anubis" Kru had been in Greedo’s shoes, Han Solo would be pushing up daisies. He almost always acts on instinct, which typically means he can be seen as impulsive and may not think his actions through, especially in situations during or leading up to combat.
Almost more machine than man, Varuk is coldly detached from those around him - even during times of high stress or combat. He shows little to no external emotion, instead allowing them to boil beneath the skin and fuel his powers. Unable to show affection for others, Kru seeks to manipulate them and use them for his own goals.
With no qualms about ending the life of a lesser being who has crossed him, very few enemies are spared Varuk's blade and even fewer allies feel comfortable fighting under him for fear of becoming expendable to The Machine.
