Primary reason

Dark Jedi Knight Sidarace Rathden is closer to the position of Quaestor I believe than he is to his own position of Aedile. He practically runs this house with his explosive activity and willingness to get everything done. The difficult part about rewarding my Aedile, however, is that an Activity Tracker has little room to recall his exploits.

Sid has served as my Aedile faithfully since I took office as Quaestor in September. In that time Sid has demonstrated an ability to mediate conflicts between members and even leadership. Such a valuable skill has served him well, and kept our Summit close-knit and functional. This is the stuff that leadership is made of.

In addition, he has shown the ability to delegate duties and orders to our battleteam leaders so that the house enjoys the benefits of an effective leadership. He often takes this responsibility upon himself, to carry out and see through, without my supervision or knowledge.

His work isn’t subversive however, it complimentary and supplementary to my own. He takes the initiative when something needs to be done, and ensures its seen to its completion. A great example of this would be the Consul’s mandate concerning communication with members. Traditionally, leaders send out a weekly report concerning news and updates. An order was given that updates be made publically when they came to surface, and that a report should recap these updates. Sidarace has carried through with idea, and puts it into practice every week.

It is my belief that in the coming years Sidarace will become a strong leader in our Clan, a belief backed up by his impressive personal activity. As a Dark Jedi Knight, he is still at a stage where progress is made through competing and earning awards, in addition to leadership, and he has preformed more than admirably at this. In the past three months alone, he has participated in twelve competitions, earning three crescents of impressive scale, passed the Sith Core Exam, and completed more than six ACC matches. This activity was also supplemented by Taldryan’s long running and newly completed Operation: Resurgence, where he helped create the winning Battle plan Submission.

For his exceptional work as a leader, and for his own exceptional personal activity, It is my distinct pleasure to award this Grand Cross of the Dark Side to Sidarace Rathden. Good work.

When I returned as Consul, I had a Summit I didn’t know that well and was not entirely sure they would fit with my vision of how the Clan should be. This was especially true of Dark Jedi Knight Sidarace because I had had little interaction with him up until this point, but I was really surprised by how active and committed Sid has been in his role as Aedile of Ektrosis. He always pushes his members to do the best they can and really leads by example – just recently placing in multiple events in the Clan competition, Operation: Resurgence.

Sid has also strived to become the best leader he can be. He always asks questions and seeks advice on things he’s unsure of, while pushing forward with his own new ideas and competitions. As far as new/young leaders go, Sidarace has proven himself to be a valuable member of the Taldryan Summit, and for those with intimate knowledge of the Clan, that is high praise indeed.

Since his appointment to Aedile, Sid has done a tremendous amount of work – both small things – keeping track of member activity, rewarding members, and running/creating competitions, and also big things – working with the Clan Summit in developing new activities and projects, preparing members for the upcoming Great Jedi War, and working on the backbone of hilarity in the Brotherhood – the Tal Times, all of which help to improve the experience our members have in the Clan.

It is with great pleasure that I recommend Sidarace for a Grand Cross of the Dark Side. He has surely earned it over the past six-plus months, and I foresee he will continue to do great things as a leader in Taldryan. Congratulations, Sidarace.
