Physical Description

Appearance

Jasper Arlow is a Human woman of short stature who is rarely seen without a dimpled smile poised upon her strawberry-pink lips. Her fair, freckled skin is often covered with splotches of dirt and grease from long hours spent tinkering away at work. The boisterously twangy drawl of her sing-song voice tends to fill any space with an excited energy. Jasper's lean, almost boyish, figure results in a tom-boy look that could be considered unassuming.

Vibrant, emerald-green eyes seem to glow with a joyful blaze, accented sharply by a thick, waist-length head of copper. Jasper typically ties her hair up, with colorful ribbons, into two messy buns atop her head to keep it out of her way while working. Despite her best efforts, random strands still manage to fall in the way. At the end of the day or for formal occasions, she keeps her hair to one side in a single braid or will let down to swing freely.

Attire

Jasper’s style is fairly eccentric, but her main requirements for clothing is that they must be fun, functional, and comfortable. Turquoise cotton shirts, baggy cargo shorts, and a brown denim jacket are her go-to choices for everyday attire. She pairs her leather work boots with obnoxiously loud socks, one of which must always be pink and yellow striped, "for good luck."

While working, she tends to wear standard-issue olive green coveralls over her everyday clothing. In addition, she wears her leather tool belt fitted with various small pouches and clips for her tools.

Little Miss Fix-It (General Aspect)

Some say that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Jasper says there's a whole lot of broken where there don't need to be, and she doesn't stop at pretty sayings; she gets to fixin'. Whether it's a broken droid or bit of machinery in a firefight or in a shop, Jasper will stop to show it some love; and the same goes for people, and for their hearts and heads, if they need to sit and talk awhile or just a big warm hug. Whatever it is, Jasper goes out of her way to heal the broken world around her.

However, her persistence isn't always welcome, and her skills aren't always enough to fix everything. Worse, her need to address everything drains her mentally, and she sometimes closes up to the world around her, a little too tired, a little too in need of some repairs of her own.

Be the Good (General Aspect)

"Gotta be the good" are the words always tumbling from Jasper's lips, fixed in an endlessly optimistic grin. When the galaxy seems gloomy like a rainy day, she sees liquid sunshine, shiny and bright. When things are grim or scary, she's there with a laugh, a smile, an offered hand. Positivity and helpfulness are Jasper's bread and butter, and she will do anything, at any cost to herself, to help those who need it, to stand up for injustice, to see hard work and happiness win the day. The universe could always use more good in it, and Jasper is gosh-darn determined to be part of making it even sweeter. Still, all that goodness can be taken advantage of, and Jasper can get herself hurt or find herself stumped when folks just don't seem to want to cheer up a smidgen.

April Showers Bring May Flowers (Personality Aspect)

Jasper believes in silver linings, second chances, dessert before supper, and that the storm only means more flowers later; but most of all, she believes in having fun and enjoying life. Everything is a game to Jasper: fix the machine? A puzzle. Run from danger? Tag. Sneak past an enemy? Hide and seek. If you're not having fun, you're not doing it right.

This playful nature is partners in crime with Jasper's childlike superstitiousness: she's never without her Lucky Striped Sock, and she'd never step on a crack in the road - she loves her Mama and her Mama's back, thank you very much. Of course, not everyone shares Jasper's boundless wisdom, and most tend to think she doesn't take things seriously or understand the gravity of most situations. Then again, most folk are sore losers and awful at getting off the floor when it turns to lava.

Bubblegum Gearhead (Personality Aspect)

Jasper is like bubblegum: bright, sweet, loud, and fantastic at making broke things stick together. Despite the ditzy or childish impression her bubbly, outgoing personality gives off, Jasper is a sharp cookie, especially at anything that runs on grease or gears. A brilliant mechanic, slicer, and droid engineer, the confident, happy-go-lucky girl lives life to the fullest and believes everything and everybody should too. Compelled to spread joy, she often takes to ‘upgrading' or ‘decorating’ any and all items that aren’t too high up for her to reach if left unsupervised.

However, Jasper’s vivaciousness is largely the result of an emotional processing disorder causing some mental developmental delays. Occasionally, episodes of sensory overload leave her unable to regulate strong emotions, which can lead to panic attacks. But no worries! It's just another hiccup, and Jasper knows the cure for hiccups: a spoonful of sugar helps even the worst go down.

Did I hit it? (Combat Aspect)

If there's two things every proper lady knows, it's that there ain't nothin' some biscuits can't cure, and how to shoot a gun. Jasper’s got the biscuits covered and the shooting, well, she’s got that down too. So to speak.

Jasper is an expert with the in's and out's blasters, having built several herself, and has plenty of experience shooting; aiming...is another matter. Rather than try something she knows is pointless, Jasper uses her own novel method: unloading her clip and hoping that she’ll hit everything she was trying to at least once. While her wild shooting can be a good distraction and work well enough on occasion, especially with those expecting a more disciplined approach, Jasper would never want to hurt some innocent soul nearby, and won't try shooting in crowds even if it means getting hurt. Moreover, there's usually consequences when all she does do is miss.

Say Hello to my Not-So-Little Friends (Combat Aspect)

Jasper wasn’t built for battle, but her droid, Rex, sure as heck was. And Roger, Spot, and Sparky. Jasper's droids ain't just droids, they're people, and they're good folk to boot. Jasper's painstakingly and lovingly crafted, pampered, and programmed each one to function as friends, caretakers and bodyguards, always present to keep her safe and secure — and like she'd never abandon them, they wouldn't her. While they're one big, happy, oily family, and often make up for Jasper's shortcomings, be it reaching something on a top shelf or launching a rocket at some attacker, unexpected situations happen, and Jasper is sometimes left distressed and stranded without her robotic companions, forced to rely on herself. Moreover, Jasper worries for her droids' safety the same as she would any friend or soldier, and would put herself in harm’s way to rescue any one of them from the battlefield.
