Ep’ione is considered to be a woman with an exotic look. Her olive coloured skin and green markings on her face give away her alien nature. She is hardly ever uses—or has a need—for makeup as she fully embraces her natural beauty. Her average height and subtle curves display a woman who maintains an active lifestyle but lacks any hard lines of muscle.
Through years in the service as a field medic the lines around her mouth and eyes have started to deepen, showing the burden and toll of her daily decisions about life and death. Her face features a strong jawline, straight nose set over a wide mouth and full lips. Her eyes are of a brown colour that matches her thick, curly hair that falls neatly over her shoulders. Her hair often defies her attempts to tame it, so hair-ties and headbands never last long. Her fingers are long and slender but her fingernails are cut short for hygienic reasons.
Her leather armour is designed to give her a decent amount of protection while allowing her enough flexibility to run for cover and to climb or crouch down as she takes care of wounded on the battlefield. Her belt and attire offer a lot of pockets for syringes, vials and other medical tools for her daily business. She also is rarely seen without a shoulder sling bag.
Colonel Ep’iona has not created any public loadouts yet.
A lifetime of survival and pragmatism allows Ep’iona the ability to make difficult decisions in the heat of the moment, never hesitating and always taking action. Sometimes you simply need to cut the arm off to save the rest of the body, or you need to let the mother go to save the child. While her hands never shake when making these decisions, Ep’iona carries with her the weight of every life she wasn’t fast enough—or precise enough—to save. Combined with her penchant to be alone and always display a demeanor of independence, the weight can be crushing at times and she’s prone to breaking down when off duty or trying to relax.
Ep’iona's skills as a medic are not just limited to holo-books and lectures. She has read up and practiced a handful of experimental treatments while inventing a few home remedies of her own. This allows Ep’iona to work outside the box in less than ideal situations, and can lead to her solving mysteries other trained medics might struggle with. This, of course, comes with its own string of failures, as nothing is ever perfect. That, and some of the more established professionals in the field often doubt or question Ep’iona's alternative practices. She typically brushes them off in favor of doing everything she can to help a patient, but does quietly seek recognition for accomplishments as a healer.
Ep’iona has been patching up the wounded for years as a Medic and has come to the conclusion that more often than not, the injuries are either self inflicted or deserved. While she will always work tirelessly on behalf of her patient in an ongoing quest to preserve all life, that doesn’t stop her from scolding or belittling patients that she feels should know better than to walk into a rancor pit with a bucket of raw meat. Ep’iona teeters on the line between compassion and supporting selective evolution, which can make her come off as less friendly or inviting than other medics.
Ep’iona's resolve as a Field Medic comes from making the hard decision to run away from multiple partners that took advantage of her. She finally learned to say 'no' after suffering through the abuse, and set off to find herself. All on her own, she set out to learn how to help and heal others, especially those who suffered from poverty or little means. Most of her experience came from working in free clinics and then later as a volunteer in the countless skirmishes fought throughout the Dark Crusades and Fading Light for the Brotherhood. When the smoke settled, she put herself through formal training. Her drive keeps her always moving forward without any aid from others. This independence does make it difficult for her to find happiness in friends and even with potential partners, meaning she is more than often lonely with no way of fixing it.
Ep’iona is at her best when under the barrel of a loaded gun. While always careful and premeditated in her preparations, a part of her craves the rush and adrenaline of handling life or death scenarios in the heart of a battle. To this end, she has no trouble tackling major trauma and injuries that other medics with more or better training might shy away from in the field. That said, she often finds herself unchallenged when working in a controlled practice or operating room and can easily grow morose as a result. She excels under pressure and has more difficulty performing the same complex procedures in a safe environment rather than out in the wild where sometimes you have to throw procedure to the wind to save your patient.
Sometimes the only way to prepare for the worst is to always expect it. Ep’iona takes this philosophy one step further by never leaving home without accounting for every possible scenario she might expect to encounter. Ep’iona tends to always have the right tool or item for a situation and has a habit of quietly and almost smugly presenting solutions before anyone even recognizes there is a problem. This foresight is far from infallible, however, and she often finds herself at a loss in situations that go beyond what she could have imagined. While incredibly practical and often a life-saver in a pinch, her perpetually pessimistic outlook on daily life can be a bit draining on more optimistic-inclined companions.
