Locke is tall and thin. He has light brown/dark blond hair, the color depending on the way light reflects off it. His hair is usually kept cut short in a simple military style. In sharp contrast to his hair, his eyes are a murky green, appearing crystal green in bright light and as glinting dark jewels in dim light. His face is plain and indistinct; he would blend in with a crowd on countless human-inhabited worlds. Locke's body type emphasizes lean fitness, from a lifetime of military experience and combat. In many places on his arms, legs, and body, he has small scars from numerous old wounds.
Locke was once a dedicated follower of Naga Sadow, but times have changed. Deciding he has watched the destructive nature of his Clan go on long enough, Locke has become a founding member of the Knights of Daragon. Like their legendary namesake, Gav Daragon, they too are one-time followers of Sadow who have turned and work in favor of justice.
He carefully works against the Clan's more chaotic elements in secret while serving it publicly. Locke believes in justice and bringing down those who he considers evil.
His goal is to create a safe space in Orian where he, his people, and his family can live in relative safety. This often brings him into conflict with clanmates, especially when they seem volatile and unpredictable.
Despite whatever all his other characteristics may convey, Locke Sonjie retains the air of a person that is confident, if not arrogant. Minor (and often, major) things in his body language - his walk, his stance, his expressions - reveal these feelings. At times, it seems he borders upon narcissism, especially judging from how much he enjoys his own company.
Locke is constantly playing mental holochess, except he makes the rules up as he goes along and plays every move without planning ahead except for vague big picture plans. He enjoys causing conflict and annoyance among his rivals and enemies. Locke thinks that unbalancing them and creating conflict between them (and himself) keeps them distracted and creates situations he may be able to benefit from.
At the same time, he tries to gather any potential allies he can, often from the same rivals he tries to cause conflict for.
It's a delicate balance between causing conflict and recruiting allies that more often than not backfires and requires Locke to have to perform damage control. Still, he remains undaunted and will continue with the same methodology until he actually faces serious consequences for his actions.
While Locke possesses diplomatic skills, he doesn't always like to use them. He prefers approaching his problems head on; weapon in hand. It doesn't take long before he grows impatient with talk and will take a more direct approach. This can sometimes result in a situation becoming more heated than it otherwise could have been.
Locke likes to train a lot. He doesn't like to fight in anger if he can avoid it, and he doesn't like to kill. As a result, he frequently wants to spar with friends, allies, and other Brotherhood members (anyone he thinks won't take it as an opportunity to kill him...), but when it comes to real conflict, he will attempt to use words first, before having to fight, which happens pretty often because of how reckless he is.
He's also super cocky about being able to talk fellow Brotherhood members down from a real fight to a sparring match they can both walk away from, with varying results, even if he has to make a deal or agreement he'll later regret.
He believes the best duels are the ones everyone walks away from, which gives his rivals plenty of opportunity to plot against him.
Locke puts everything on the table immediately. If words don't work, he doesn't hold back when he's fighting. He never keeps anything hidden in reserve for his opponents, so it's pretty obvious right away what he's capable of. He'll use a mixture of all of his abilities immediately, depending on what he thinks is best at the moment.
This makes it easier for opponents to plan against him and try to trap him if they're capable of it.
He doesn't take his failures (or most fights) very seriously, even when he should.
