Jake Sloane is a Human of average height and weight with an athletic build from years in the military. He sports close-cropped black hair on his head in a military-styled cut and has a thin layer of neatly kept stubble lining his cheeks. His eyes are a warm brown in color and he has faintly tanned skin.
His body bears a number of small scars as proof of his chosen profession, wearing them almost as a badge of honor and proof that he's survived through it all.
While Jake Sloane will see a job through to its conclusion and put forward his best effort, it’s still just a job. Jake Sloane's true loyalties lie to his friends, and through thick and thin,he will stand by them and die for them if needed. This loyalty is reserved for those who have earned Jake Sloane's trust, putting him at odds with other Mercenaries that are only doing a job for the money. This also makes it harder for employers to trust his motives, often times creating extra competition and difficulty finding work. None of it matters to Jake Sloane, though, because loyalty to his friends is not something credits can buy.
Jake Sloane can be very protective, and when any of his friends are being bullied or threatened, he will step in to defend them. This can gets Jake Sloane in trouble when he refuses to back down during these exchanges, and sometimes has trouble discerning between friendly teasing and intentional insults. However, because of this fierce loyalty, his friends know that no matter what, Jake Sloane will be there for them.
Jake Sloane prefers to push the rules to the absolute limit. While he is unlikely to actually break rules or disobey orders, he toes the line between what is allowed and what isn't at every opportunity.
Jake Sloane doesn't do anything without first having a plan, and is constantly overheard advising others to always “think through their exits”. Every movement he makes—be it combative, manipulative or otherwise—is premeditated and thought out ahead of time. This foresight often places Jake Sloane two steps ahead of his peers. However, when plans go awry, Jake Sloane often has to first backtrack those same two steps to address the present, and that hesitation can often be line between success and failure in the heat of a situation.
Without the gift of the Force, Jake Sloane has trained rigorously with a wide range of melee weaponry and technology to better handle opponents that are able to harness the mythical power. Jake Sloane has been conditioned to fight against foes that are Force-sensitive and are able to compensate against fighting an adversary wielding something as deadly as a lightsaber. While this adaptive combat training makes him lethal in close quarters combat against any kind of threat, they are still at the mercy of a long ranged fighter, assailant or Force user that prefers to attack the mind instead of the body.
Jake Sloane has an uncanny knack for identifying traps and alerting others to them. Now, if only he could consistently do it BEFORE the trap goes off...
