Every legendary story seems to have at least one charming and optimistic character. If that's the case, then it only makes sense that Kalen Joss has decided to be that person. Having been born inside a star-ship as opposed to planet-side, Kalen Joss has never had a particular world to call his home. He grew up in an environment that requires being of use in order to survive, and without the borders that breed patriotism. The allegiances of the galaxy mean little to him, only the strength of individual merit. He is most at peace when in space, and will take on any contract or mission that enables him to remain firmly seated in a cockpit.

This utter lack of affiliation often results in what can be construed as insubordination and disloyalty, putting him at odds with those that value such things.

Being born in a far away galaxy, and the descendant of the survivors of one of the Republics 'Lost' squadrons, Kalen is a true outsider. He often comes of as naive, childish, or a simpleton when it comes to history, interpersonal relations and galactic politics. He lived his entire life among a group of roughly 5000 souls, before they were able to hitched a ride home with some space whales in early 43 ABY.

Being a 'grandfathered' Jedi, with no knowledge of what had occurred in the previous 70+ years , he is often weary of the motives of many of his Brothers. His charm an innocence often save him from a grim fate. Cora, the tailors daughters on Aliso, was the first person to make him feel like he belonged.

Kalen Joss is very cheerful and happy, and always looks on the bright side of life. When chewing on life’s gristle, he doesn't grumble, but gives a whistle. He always hopes for the best, and enjoys laughing, smiling, dancing or singing. This unending optimism often improves the morale and spirit of everyone around him, and Kalen Joss is always quick with a smile or a joke, even when drawing his terminal breath. This same exuberance can also be tiring to more jaded curmudgeons.

Sometimes the only way to prepare for the worst is to always expect it. Kalen Joss takes this philosophy one step further by never leaving home without accounting for every possible scenario he might expect to encounter. Kalen Joss tends to always have the right tool or item for a situation and has a habit of quietly and almost smugly presenting solutions before anyone even recognizes there is a problem. This foresight is far from infallible, however, and he often finds himself at a loss in situations that go beyond what he could have imagined. While incredibly practical and often a life-saver in a pinch, his perpetually pessimistic outlook on daily life can be a bit draining on more optimistic-inclined companions.

Even the most gifted of weapon masters understands the importance of physical fitness and disciplining the body with thorough martial arts training. Kalen Joss has trained vigorously in unarmed combat by fusing Teräs Käsi and Echani with other unconventional forms. While this martial focus helps bolster his prowess in close-quarters combat, Kalen Joss is still limited in scope when facing down a less direct or ranged threat.
