Kalen Joss has no home planet, at least not one that he can remember. As a child, Kalen Joss would spend most of his time on different starships and grew accustomed to the atmosphere and nuances of space and the various crafts that traverse it. As a result, Kalen Joss feels more comfortable on a ship than on any planet.

Every legendary story seems to have at least one charming and optimistic character. If that's the case, then it only makes sense that Kalen Joss has decided to be that person. After all, if everyone is too busy whining and groaning about the negatives, how will anyone ever reach the positive? True, Kalen Joss's constant belief that things will get better can be terribly grating, especially to pessimists or those just level-headed enough to realize when things truly are going downhill, but Kalen Joss's constant positive outlook can serve to sometimes spur others to action when it feels like the world just wants them to lay down and die.

The Jedi are selfless, caring only about others. Kalen Joss is compassionate, brave and always strives to represent the common good. He tries to help everyone he can, even at his own expense, and is a fine role model for others to follow.

Kalen Joss is a lateral thinker, and when he encounters problems or dilemmas, he is very good at improvising and coming up with alternative solutions. This allows Kalen Joss to find ways out of situations others might give up on. While these solutions are often not so obvious to others, Kalen Joss can typically explain and lead others through his plan...as long as they are patient and willing enough to trust him outside thinking.

Sometimes the only way to prepare for the worst is to always expect it. Kalen Joss takes this philosophy one step further by never leaving home without accounting for every possible scenario he might expect to encounter. Kalen Joss tends to always have the right tool or item for a situation and has a habit of quietly and almost smugly presenting solutions before anyone even recognizes there is a problem. This foresight is far from infallible, however, and he often finds himself at a loss in situations that go beyond what he could have imagined. While incredibly practical and often a life-saver in a pinch, his perpetually pessimistic outlook on daily life can be a bit draining on more optimistic-inclined companions.

Even the most gifted of weapon masters understands the importance of physical fitness and disciplining the body with thorough martial arts training. Kalen Joss has trained vigorously in unarmed combat by fusing Teräs Käsi and Echani with other unconventional forms. While this martial focus helps bolster his prowess in close-quarters combat, Kalen Joss is still limited in scope when facing down a less direct or ranged threat.
