I Wrote That Twi'lek A Sonnet

No, you do not have to write a sonnet. :P

What you DO have to do is compose a poem all about your love of Star Wars! The content of the poem can vary, from a serenade to Chewie or a lament for Han, to a page straight out of Kylo Ren's angst-ridden diary about mommy and daddy not loving him and everything being black. You could also write about your own personal love or like for the fandom, the club, or anything Star Wars! The galaxy is the limit.

You may also choose the format of your poem. Standard poems should be at least three stanzas ("paragraphs") long. Line poems should use at least two words. Haikus...well, haikus have three lines, just watch that syllable count. :P You can reference some types of poems and how to write them here in the Academy.

Entries will be graded on syntax, creativity, and entertainment. While this is a parody comp, and humor is a factor, a beautifully composed piece that makes men weep may win just as easily. Don't be afraid to depart from the humorous. If your entry is unsuitable for a PG-13 environment, be sure not to publish!

When I was a wee lad, just five and a half years old
My father said we would watch the greatest story ever told
Golden words began to scrawl across the screen
My interest piqued, I began to lean

Before my eyes a grandiose story began to unfold
About an Empire that replaced a Republic of Old
And a Rebellion that was trying to go back,
To a time before the galaxy was ruled by a man in all black

It would all fall to a simple Tatooine farm boy
And a 'that's-no-space-station' that he would destroy
To start a journey anew and avenge his fallen mentor
And uphold the promise to become a Jedi that he swore
