Competition: Going Shopping!

Finished
Going Shopping!

The Possessions Beta is OPEN! Now's your chance to finally spend those credits you've been accruing for the last Force-knows how long. Hit the stores to pick out your favorite items and write out a short justification about why you want that item!

Guidelines

  • Choose one item each from the following categories: Tech, Armor, Weapon, Equipment, Accessory.

  • Write a short paragraph (3-5 sentences) describing why your character wants those items or how they will make use of the item.

  • You don't need to necessarily have enough credits or be a sufficient rank to acquire that item once Possessions goes live (or in the beta), after all we need something to strive for! If you aren't the right rank, then explain why you eventually want that item.

Grading Criteria

  • Adherence to the format of the competition. Do not write more than 5 sentences per item.

  • Realism for your character.

I don't have an approved character sheet (I just joined last Friday) but here is the link to the one I'm working on to give you an idea on what my character's motivations are: https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/character_sheets/5435?token=80573875

Tech: Utility Belt

One key part of Tarvitz’s character is a heightened level of self reliance, especially when it comes to crafting equipment. Having spent several years operating with little support, it makes sense that he would be familiar with performing basic maintenance on both his equipment and his ship. Whether it's replacing a basic motivator or refitting power couplings, he would likely learn to frequently have something within arm’s reach for a few basic fixes alongside much more long-term projects. Even outside of a workshop though, Tarvitz would likely want a hydrospanner or two to help overcome his lack of skill when it comes to slicing; after all, you who needs to steal enemy intelligence when you can just steal the entire computer core.

Armor: Jedi Armour

Tarvitz’s bio has notes that he is far more comfortable in armour than actual clothing, and often favours it over anything less durable than plasteel. Since donning his Jensaarai armour is often out of the question, he has frequently resorted to pillaged sets of Phase II Clone Trooper suits which remain effective but constrain his abilities. While Jedi Armour is relatively lightweight by comparison, it offers more opportunities to make use of his powers in combat and become better attuned with the Force. Combined Tarvitz’s relatively underdeveloped abilities and retraining under Edgar Drachen, it offers an opportunity for him to rapidly catch up to the level of skill and experience which would normally be expected of him.

Weapon: Sith Sword

Despite being trained as a Jensaarai , Force alchemy has long been a skill which has long eluded Tarvitz. While he can craft blades, forge armour and tap into the powers of the Force, empowering items with their energy remains beyond him. As such, thanks to the mysterious absence of all knowledge relating to Jedi Alchemy, Tarvitz would value the opportunity to examine a powerful weapon and understand the underlying methods which could be used in its creation. Given the sheer number of lightsaber wielding foes, and his inability to produce equipment which can counter their blows, it would offer him a chance to do more for the Clan than simply fly ships and forge basic equipment.

Equipment: Quadnoculars

The ability to scout out a location is often a vital skill in a dangerous galaxy, and Tarvitz has only lived such a long life by refusing to throw caution to the wind. While it’s often impossible to completely cover and fully examine an entire location, a long range visual scan of a township or stronghold can be enough to weigh the odds in his favour. Anything from noting possible signs of a trap to a hostile takeover can open up more options for how to approach a situation.

Accessory: Code Cylinder

Prior to joining Odan-Urr, Tarvitz was expected to perform basic reconnaissance efforts and visit keep watch for possible threats which might harm the Jensaarai from across the galaxy. While he and a few others were given relative freedom to pursue this act, it was always expected that they return with an extensive report across multiple worlds. As such, Tarvitz would want an item to compile together his recorded findings and keep them secure from possible thieves. Given the situation involving the latest Brotherhood Civil War, he would likely seek to record information on the situation as a whole before eventually returning home.

“Where to begin...I guess protection. While I would prefer something for stealth operations, I’ve found that a number of my ops tend to go loud faster than I’d like, so I need something better suited to take a few knocks. Though I have something more immediate, I’ve found a potential long term goal to work towards. See, back in the Clone Wars, the Republic Commandos had some solidly built armor, called Katarn-class Armor, it’s customizeable, so I can tweak it for shadow ops (word has it that one squad painted theirs all black, while another squad all had individualized color schemes), but it can take a hit or two, and I can set it up however I need to approach a mission, be it quiet or loud.”

“Weapons would be next. I mean, I’ve already got a good thing going with the Glie-44 and A280C, but I suppose if I had to pick something, I’d probably like to get my hands on an X-8 blaster pistol. It comes silenced off the shelf, freeing up modification space elsewhere. That would likely be a worthy successor to the Glie-44 I picked up so I didn’t wear out my dad’s old DL-44 service pistol. From the shape and overall appearance, it looks like the X-8 will also not have any real issues meshing with my pistol firing stance, Center Axis Relock. Good firepower and even able to engage at range, that’s also a welcome plus, since if I have to go to my secondary weapon, things may be heating up swiftly.”

“Tech...okay, this is going to sound weird, and is likely going to be illegal, but I want an HK-unit assassin droid to go out in the field with. Everything I’ve read about them suggests that they’re highly intelligent and very capable droids, and back during Revan’s day, anyone who was going to change things had an HK-series droid. An HK Droid would be invaluable to have in the field, since as an assassin droid, it knows about engaging at the right moment and analysing the enemy, and if things get heated, it can hold its own in a firefight.”

“Equipment...that is seriously ambiguous, but okay, fine. Given the sensitive nature of my line of work, I need a datapad that I can use but if I lose it, I don’t invite the bad guys to come in with all of our secrets. I’ve seen mention of a datapad used by assassins that would work. Processing power is a little low, but you’re going to lose that to a small block of detonite in the casing. I mean, it’s a good datapad otherwise, gives me something to record information or provide electronic support in the field, and if it gets stolen, hit a button and it pops into pieces. Simple.”

“And last, but not least, what I’d carry with me that no one else would. You can call it an accessory, but to me, it means everything, because it’s all I have left of my family. My parents’ ID tags from their Republic Military days, and when I find whoever thought they could break me by murdering them, before I put them to my lightsaber, this is what they’ll see. My parents fought to make this galaxy a better place, and I’m going to honor their memory. And no one, not the First Order, not the Republic or Resistance, or even the Brotherhood, is going to stop me from dealing with the coward murderer.”

[Voice Modulator](https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/item_prototypes/603) (Technology):

[Dark Armor](https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/item_prototypes/217) (Armor): Bentre Kairn'tel Stahoes sees Dark Armor as partly a status symbol and partly as a d

[Vibroblade](https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/item_prototypes/634) Weapon: If you look at the weapon that I have in the Possessions Beta it will be quite clear. Bentre would possess [Stavel'adius](https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/items/2407) as it is an item very special to the man as it is a symbol of his position as Patriarch of the Versea and a display of his union with Tasha'Vel. Most of the weapon's utility lies in its ceremonial use, so this is one of the few items that Bentre possesses (so far) in Possessions that does not have a strictly practical application.

[Synthflesh Dispenser](https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/item_prototypes/391) (Equipment): What use could be better for an assassin than either the ability to hide his cybernetic or to alter his facial features in a pinch. When coupled with his ability to alter his facial features through the Force, this further expands his ability to disguise himself- without tiring himself as much as if he used only the Force to do so. The reason for wanting it should be evident, as if he is caught Bentre cannot exact revenge for the death of the Obelisk against Darth Pravus and his Inquisitors.

[Sith Helm](https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/item_prototypes/156) (Accessory): Vengeance is a cold thing, and what better way to exact vengeance than to do so ironically? Bentre had at one point been tasked with personally guarding Darth Pravus and received this helm as part of his duty. When he hunts down the Grand Master he plans to wear the Sith Helm to mock the Sith before he strikes the maniac down. For him there is a poetic justice in Pravus being slain by one tasked to protect him.

Armour: https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/items/47107 - Rebel SpecForce Armor

Though Laren typically opts for light or no armor, there are situations or operations that may call for more provocative measures. As a medium armor set, the Rebel SpecForce Armor would provide Laren a small measure of protection during a heated operation where he would be under immense fire. Furthermore, the armor is both constructed to carry the vast majority of his weapons systems, and is still agile enough that in close quarter combat, his Echani fighting style would only be hindered minimally.

Weapon: Synergy WLD-5 Peacekeeper Blaster pistol - https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/items/46050

Laren typically relies on his DC-17 blaster pistol as his go-to weapon of choice, but has learned to always carry a second. The selection of this weapon system for Laren is simply because it is a heavily modifiable, and highly effective anti-infantry system. Laren isn't outfitted for battle against anything else but infantry, and his skills revolve around killing people, not disabling vehicles. For this reason, Laren would want to have a reliable and powerful backup weapon in case his DC-17 were lost, disabled or destroyed to utilize against his usually sentient enemies.

Equipmemt: Holocam - https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/items/47845

As a mercenary, Laren has been tasked on operations ranging from direction action with small teams at his command (if necessary), reconnaissance, espionage, and assassination. Regardless of the situation, a holocam is a cheap but invaluable tool that can be utilized in various locations to observe enemy or target movements for further study. It.is imperative to Laren's work that he has an idea of what his enemy's habits are so that he can formulate basic plans to complete his mission. It's also important to record the terrain, so in the likely instance Laren has to improvise on the fly, he will have studied the Holocam footage of the target area well enough to know how to use it to his advantage.

Tech: Light Amplification Goggles - https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/items/45796

In order to be an efficient solider, certain gadgets and gizmos are required to make one effective and efficient in any setting. Laren would purchase these Goggles for the sole purpose of being able to effectively engage the enemy in blackout darkness, giving him a slight advantage over his (assumed) blind adversaries.

Accessory: Code Cylinder - https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/items/47834

As a member of the Clan Plagueis Summit, Laren would undoubtedly carry a code cylinder to access more sensitive areas of their Clan headquarters reserved only for those in positions of power and authority.
