Competition: The Way, Part Two: Working Together

The Way, Part Two: Working Together

Time to gear up for the GJW with one more writing exercise. This time we will focus on the crucial skill of writing together as a team. Now, in the GJW this will usually take the form of a run-on, whether as large groups or as few-person teams. Here, we're going to be in a more controlled environment.

Working together with one (1) other person in Naga Sadow, write a fiction following one of the following two prompts:

1. It's official, War is looming on the horizon. You and one other Sadowan have taken it upon yourselves to push the limits of your training in an effort to make it through the mayhem alive. You've isolated yourself in a small training gym, equipped with a litany of weapons and automated obstacles, in order to hone your skills. However, it seems someone has taken it in their own hands to start the War early, and you and your partner have found yourselves fighting an uncontrollable, overpowered training gym combat system.

2. War... were we foolish to think the last had really been the last? You and a partner, veterans of too many combat situations to count, find yourselves feeling that enough might just be enough, already. No more wars, not for us. But to act in such a way is beyond treason... and the Brotherhood has caught on. You are trying to make your way to safe space, but find yourselves tracked and followed at every step along the way. You think you're just home free: you've landed at your intended destination, and just as you depart your craft in the landing bay you find yourself ambushed.

The rules:

  • At least 1000 words, no more than 2000.
  • You must partner with one other Sadowan for this competition. Your awards will be identical.
  • You must list at the beginning of your submission the ID# of both members of the writing team.
  • Either by different color, or indication at the beginning of each section (e.g., [Aul's part]), you must make very clear who has written what in the submission. Failure to do this will disqualify from placement. It's important that both members of the team contribute to the submission.
  • You must stick to your character sheets and loadouts for this competition.
  • Grading will be based on quality of writing and adherence to the rules.
