Competition: [FIST} Gaming Test: Hearthstone

Finished
[FIST} Gaming Test: Hearthstone

This is the test competition for Hearthstone.

The rules for this competition are simple: Play Hearthstone 1v1 matches against any member of the DJB. Take end-game screenshots, place them into a zip file, and submit them to the competition. The member who plays the most matches will win.

  • You do not have to queue for the bot. We are doing this old-school. You must request matches in DB Gaming, and you may not set up any matches in PM. I will watch for any match dodging.

  • Games will be played to best 3/5 matches. The intent behind this is to gauge how long it takes to play a set.

  • Provide written feedback on the game in the text submission box. Did you enjoy the game? Did you see any issues with overpowered decks? Anything you think I need to know to help make an informed decision on this game's supportability?

I fell like this would be a good game to support to fill the gap from Pazaak. However I think we should make basic decks the standard and custom decks only when agreed too.

Struggled with the zip file, but other than that I really enjoyed HS. I think we should allow Wild Duels (I know they weren’t not allowed, just saying)

Zip it real good.

Wally v Mako - 3-2 - Wally win.

Average game ~10 minutes. This game is awesome. It should be supported as it's quick and easy to play, learn and get into. Not perfect but it's the best.

Played a full 5 matches against Esca, my win 3-2. Took about an hour (total) first match was ~10 minutes, we had to take a short break before the last match (tied 2-2) since he was at work, and had boss aggro.....Also played against Samael, I recall losing 2-3.

I played a best 3/5 games against Wally, though I lost all three games I came close on two of those matches. I can't speak for what Wally was using for cards but I hadn't changed cards out in either deck I was using.

It took us about 30 minutes total to play, averaging about 10 minutes per match.

This seems to have a pretty easy learning curve, I went into all three matches blind to my cards (I had only played about 3-4 matches outside of the tutorial) and with absolutely no strategy and was still able to somewhat hold my own.

I think this absolutely has potential in the club myself however it does need to be noted that a lot more time needs to be dedicated to this game than was required for pazaak.

I'm not in this to win, just to let you know I'd like to see this game be supported and give some feedback.

I played a few rounds of this game (more than my upload suggests) and I must say it is fun.
A massive advantage of the game is that you can both play it on PC as on mobile, crossplay supported. It takes a lot from your phone though!

As being named 'the replacement for Pazaak', it's kind of comparing apples to pears, this game is much more. For starters: my average matches took 10 minutes each, being way more then Pazaak matches. Therefor I feel like Clustervalues should be higher as well. The game also takes a little more effort, thinking helps in this game :p

I do hope many others share my opinion, this game is a keeper.

I liked this! Personally I thought it was better than pazaak and would hella participate. I do think some people will just always be better than others, but I guess that's the downside of being more strategic. I still held my own way more than I would have expected.

Wally and Alaris

The biggest concern that I have is in the pay to win aspect of the game, similar to Force Arena. It's very easy for someone to dominate the game not based on skill but based entirely on availability of some cards. Tavern Brawls would be an interesting mechanic to play with because they tend to offer a level playing field in regards to card availability.
