Competition: No Place Like Home

Finished
No Place Like Home

For some of you, Tarthos is your home. For others, it's a sanctuary. For all, it's the centre of Marka Ragnos and thus of great importance regardless of if you call it home or not.

This situation has led your thoughts to wander and you have decided to put your thoughts down in poetic form.

For the purpose of this comp, I want you to write a poem, utilising any allowed format from the Poetry courses in the SA and Voice Fiction Rubric, about the current purges upon Tarthos. Put down your characters thoughts and how they feel.

Scoring will be based on the Voice fiction rubric. Minimum 1 Stanza.

The Hunt
By Tasha’Vel Versea

Let the screams, taunts, and cries surround me
As I watch them die, falling to the ground
The purge moves onward
Almost like a sweet melodic sound.

We fought valiantly on the plains of Tarthos
I saw my comrades fall
Foul are these hideous undesirables ,
I can still hear their death call

Too long have I stayed close to the fence
Never showing my true power
But soon very soon
I will make them all cower

All of you undesirables are marked
And with a resounding flash of light
Your time is up, the order has been barked
This is your last fight

Home.
The word reverberated.
“What an interesting concept,” Etah thought to himself.
Coruscant clearly wasn’t that, neither was Selen.
Yridia is lost to us.
But now Tarthos is all of a sudden supposed to matter?

Home….
The word reasserted.
“This I clearly can’t accept,” Etah fraught to himself.
Tarthos, land of the Lion. A planet that means nothing to me.
Identity is lost to us.
But now all of a sudden, I find myself getting madder.

Home.
The word serrated.
“There is only one conclusion that can be reached,” Etah fought with himself.
The Clan of Life and Death is neither living nor dead.
We are now the last of us.
But now all of a sudden, I find myself becoming murder.

There’s only one thing left to be said,
Home is where you lay your dead.

stands as a new beginning,
a place of greater darkness
where the weak shall fall to strength
and the young shall defeat old

stands as a new beginning
a destiny yet unseen
power beyond anything
of dream or reality

the loyal shall persevere
the traitorous ilk shall fall
a new place to lay my lekku
and a new haven for me
