Competition: [Sins of the Past] [Episode IV] Cooperative Fiction

Prompt:

The spark of rebellion has been lit, and the abused men and women of Estle City have finally been given a target for their frustrations and upset: the Citadel. Groups of citizens, both locally formed militia and completely random gangs of looters and rioters, are turning on the military and aid forces in the city and have begun targeting important structures. The 40th Street Medical Clinic, the Estle City Desalination Plant, Foundry 5 and Foundry 3, Sinchi Logistics Hub 12, and the Arconan Military Parade Grounds are all under siege, while other groups amass to head for the Citadel itself at the city's mountain summit. Fortunately, most of the publicly-known military bases are outside Estle, leaving rally points for the Arconans who run them. Less fortunately, our military forces are spread thin in containing the insurgency and protecting both themselves and the citizens. Help is needed.

You and a partner (be they Main Characters, Alternative Characters, or NPCs, so long as a Snapshot is attached) are tasked with helping repel the rioters before they cause even more damage to what's left of these key pieces Selen's infrastructure. It is critical you not reveal your identities or the presence of Force-Users in the process, as Arcona as an organization is still secret. Additionally, citizen casualties are to be avoided at all costs.

Rules:

• Pairs should be made of any two Arconans and may be formed at participant's choice or assigned by the event organizers as requested with this form. If a partner cannot be found, a member may submit their own entry for participation credit but not placement.
• Your fictions must have a five hundred (500) word minimum per participant. 20k words is the overall maximum for a submitted fiction, not per participant. Participants should post their work to Discourse in the Fiction category, with [ARC] Sins of the Past - Episode IV in the thread title.
• Participants should attach any relevant .doc/.pdf file or Google Doc link to show which author wrote what with individual word counts included. Use some sort of designation to show each author, eg a different text color, different font, line breaks, or titling each section. Teammates are, of course, free to proof and aid each other, but any writing counted towards their individual word count should be chiefly their own work.
• Submissions should link to the Discourse thread and include the names and dossier numbers of both participants. Only one participant needs to submit to the competition.
• Snapshots of each member's Main Character, Alternative Character, or NPC are required. However, any number of additional or supporting characters or NPCs may be featured and do not need references.
• Entries must follow the given prompt.
• Because fictions are posted publicly on Discourse, entries should be limited to PG-13 content. Moderate amounts of violence, gore, sexual implications, dark content, etc, are fine, just be aware of your audience.
• Grading will be done using the Voice Fiction Rubric.
