Competition: [OPERATION: ANTIQUITY] Week 2: Poetry

Finished
[OPERATION: ANTIQUITY] Week 2: Poetry

After a few days roaming the planet, you have encountered your first scuffle with a team of droids and what appears to be a small splinter cell of pirates. You've made it back to safety, but at your camp, you feel the urge to write about your day. But you can't just write a journal entry. You must describe your experiences briefly, concisely...in haiku, specifically.

Write at least three haiku (5-7-5 syllabic structure) detailing your character or NPC's day dealing with antagonistic forces on the unnamed planet. Using minimalist language, describe what happened, how you felt confronting the enemy, and anything else you'd like to say should someone stumble across and read it.

Grading will be based 40% on mechanics (following the haiku formula), 10% on length (at least 3 haiku), and 50% on creativity, originality, and humor.

we came for wisdom
for this wood was quiet once
and space is noisy

loud not from the void
but from within our own minds
anxious and painful

this place summoned us
it's not our way to seek peace
but to bring the sword

Her leaves needed us
the balance we oft forget
in our driven hate

return to silence
just metal and skeletal
amidst fallen trees

Harsh metal beings,
Their goals are left unstated,
Now reduced to scrap.

Victims not alone,
Many more of flesh and blood,
Join in their demise.

Pirates and scoundrels,
Also fall before my blade,
The Force has freed them.

Shiver me timbers!
Tin heads battle scallywags
on world black with death

Chorus of chanties
blithely drowned in darker chants
take arms ‘gainst their foe

Old and swarthy droids
engaged by powers unseen
find mutual foes

Blaster and sword on
rightful heirs and toxic Sith
Dead men tell no tales

Oh the day was bleak
Our plans were for resources
Or people to seek

Yes found them we did
Both machinery and life
Should have instead hid

The droids came out first
Mostly junk but still deadly
With a certain thirst

Men, the other half
Had good weapons and armor
With an evil laugh

We are powerful
But they were trodden upon
Strength and multifold

Air strikes saved our hides
So we could get out okay
Did our best, we tried

Not one of us passed
Although not one of us gained
Masters' calm shant last

Oh the day was bleak
We'll fight together one day
Prove we are not weak

The metallic whine,
As servo’s try to react,
To my saber strike.

Shouting increases,
As the pirates closed around
My strike team and I.

One hundred persent,
Of the chances they were done,
The choice never thought.

Run and hide trembling,
Or stand and fight the chance was
Lost in the battle.

Do or die no try,
The time taken to prevail,
Slipped swiftly away.

Taking down the threat,
As my saber tasted blood,
The final stroke dealt.

The battle finished,
The outcome as predicted,
My team won the day.

Enemy Spotted
I will rend and crush them all
Yet this is pointless

Death will not claim me
For the enemy is weak
They are just fodder

The night has crept in
Though I am Unaffected
For I cannot see

Attempted surprise
I was assaulted by droids
Equipped with rifles

My saber burned blue
With burning hue I cut through
Their robot bodies

Then PIRATES attacked
Twas their droids I had broken
Murdered them up good

stars to the planet
some of us came for the past
some came to mine it

locals were angry
from the droids of the past times
to pirates who stayed

the star ships landed
we prepared for them to come
battle was to come

they sent their war droids
the pirates joined them for war
in the end all felled

some fell by blaster
some by light saber and force
the locals all fell

some by Plagueis
the rest by Naga Sadow
from the brotherhood
