Competition: Encrypted Notes

Encrypted Notes

Search teams have managed to recover some of the notes about the ancient Selenian ruins. Unfortunately, the notes are written in code.

Once you’ve subscribed to the competition, you’ll be able to see the coded message. Solve the cryptogram and submit the full message in the Text box. The top three placements will be determined based on who can accurately decrypt the message in the shortest period of time. Be sure to include all appropriate capitalization and punctuation from the original message. The timer starts as soon as you subscribe to the competition. Ties will be broken based on accuracy and submission date.

Winners will receive third level crescents. Participation and placement will also result in earning points toward the parent competition:

  • 1st place will receive 2 points
  • 2nd place will receive 1 points
  • 3rd place will receive 0.5 points
  • Participation will earn 1 point.

- The exterior of the temple appears to be made of a sandstone that is not indigenous to Selen.
-Tthe hieroglyphs on the exterior of the ruins indicate that this was once a temple devoted to Allasu, one of the ancient selenian gods. She was worshiped by the ancient selenians as a goddess of life and death.
- The hieroglyphs also depict the caxqete humanoid creatures with the heads of insects and animals who Allasu created to be her servants.
- According to selenian myths, Allasu was one of five gods who descended from the heavens to rule over the people. These gods had powers far beyond that of common men. According to the inscriptions those who Allasu favored were blessed with long life and fertility while those who displeased her were said to simply waste away into nothingness.
