Competition: Defence of the Realm

Following recent conflicts, the system defences are in need of upgrading. You have been assigned to lead the team that will investigate and plan the program to upgrade them. You are to write a fiction that looks at how you go about this. Look at touring the sites, discussing development with colleagues etc. Good descriptions of what you will be inspecting, designing etc will be key to this fiction.
