Competition: Unfamiliar Territory

Finished
Unfamiliar Territory

Chaos, calamity, disorder! Ol’val is, once again, in a state of unrest. With the life support systems going haywire, rescue missions are launched to get people out of every sector of Ol’val’s expansive domain. But the maps only go so far. What lies beyond?

Create a new sector of Ol’val that’s not among the established parts, such as Jerem Plaza or the Docks. It can be an extension of one, however, but should be its own self-contained “district”.

In your description, you should answer at least the following: What is this area called? What are the key defining features of this area? What is the history of this area? Is it a recent expansion, or has it always been there, but unnoticed by most? What is the area used for/What function does this area serve?

Grading will be based on creativity, future adventure potential, fit within existing Ol’val lore, and elaboration of description.

If you do not wish for your submission to be considered for addition to the official Ol’val wiki, please indicate so in the submission textbox, alongside your vote for which faction (Cartels or Paladins) you’re supporting!

Competition: Unfamiliar Territory

The Zone

This area has been developed relatively recently in response to the many conflicts that are erupting and the growing number of private military and civilian groups making use of the station.

Situated both on the upper polar surface and also within the shell of the asteroid itself, The Zone is a specialised training area that has both Zero-G sections and Gravity moderated areas. This Training Area is primarily for use by the Members of the DDF and elements of the Clan, however it is available for hire and offers both military and civilian organisations an excellent place to train in hazardous environments.

The polar surface features both a Mag-Con contained area as well as a void exposed area. Both areas are designed specifically around offering clients a place to train in Zero-G in both an atmosphere and non-atmosphere environment. The surface has various modular features that can be used as obstacles, and even buildings if needed with many other items available to suit the training scenario.

The Internal spaces are gravity modulate, this means they can have their gravity altered and turned off as determined by the training scenario. The internal zone is also sealed from the other areas of the station by multiple airlocks and vacuum barriers, this allows sections of it to be used for training in toxic, chemical and radioactive environments, while still being relatively safe for those using it. This can provide its users with a variable internal environment with conditions that can be adjusted on the fly.

Both of these zones are Live zones, all weapons are open for use in these areas, the containment systems have multiple failsafes and are shielded and protected by several layers of Durasteel.

Cartel

The area is called the Idiot's Array Plaza
It is where the majority of gambling establishments are located
It serves mostly as a neutral ground for conducting business, as none of the Cartel families control the area.
It was built as a response to the expansion of the crime activity in the are, and also to serve as a good money laundering place.

P.S. If you like this concept idea we can work together to make it detailed (i just didn't have enough time to expand on it)
