Competition: Planetary Inhabitants #1

Finished
Planetary Inhabitants #1

With our relocation to Korus, it gives us a clean slate to world build from. As of right now, there is nothing on Korus except the Kast War Forge, and that needs to change.

Korus is a sandy desert planet, with extreme temperature swings (unbearably hot during the day and crazy cold at night) around the the equator, this area is inhospitable to MOST lifeforms.

The majority of the rest of the planet is your standard desert biome, while the poles consist of a cool desert biome that are much more hospitable to all life (flora and fauna, think Sedona, AZ).

Instructions:

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to provide ONE (1) group of sentients on Korus, their backstory and attitude towards both Deathwatch and Vizsla.

Grading:

Submissions will be graded by awesomeness, ability to develop them in or into future story lines, as well as being able to fit the theme of a barren, desert planet. Preference will be given to more COMPLETE entries for grading.

Kitonak - https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Kitonak/Legends

Ohhhhh, the slow, slow, slowbro Kitonak. They came to Korus for the purpose of using an underground water-source found on Korus for their Great Celebration of Life - wading into the depths to perform their Dance of Love. A barren world, the water-source is revered and to be honored. However, Deathwatch thwarted these plans when they started rapid expansion, pushing Kitonak populations further away from the life giving waters. While angered, they were so slow to retaliate, many members of Deathwatch assumed that the Kitonak’s were easily relocated. However, the Kitonak tribes harbor a resentment that will reveal itself in due time. Who knows how long that will take. Until then, they have moved into various positions for the sake of keeping a close eye on Deathwatch where they serve as merchants, musicians, and even guides as they evolved to survive harsh environments.

The Sand Striders

The Sand Striders are the native people of Korus. They inhabit a variety of settlements ranging from small villages to massive aboveground and underground cities. Long ago the planet was once lush and beautiful. It was turned into a desert over millennia due to the usage of powerful weapons of mass destruction which terraformed most of the planet. The Sand Striders were the victors of these thousands of years of destructive conflict. They are masters of hit and run combat and employ landspeeders and tanks capable of operating in even the worst conditions the galaxy has to offer.

The Sand Striders are a truly massive civilization, including over a billion people. They have subgroups and political rivalries. Some groups are hostile to Clan Vizsla while others are neutral or even desire to work alongside the Clan. The leaders of Vizsla must deal with each tribe in the manner they choose.

Some tribes are willing to trade with Vizsla while others are willing to be paid as mercenaries. Some truly progressive tribes have sought to join Vizsla itself, hoping to gain an edge over the tribes with more stringent traditions through change and adaptability.

The Sand Striders are a largely human group. Several other species are represented including Twi’leks, Devaronians, Ovissians, and Trandoshans.

“Lord of the Realm” Filagrim

Filigrim is a no frills businessman. Purveyor of the Filagrim’s Trader’s Layover settlement, he rules the area as self proclaimed lord through credits and contracts with mercenary groups. Always open to new opportunities to earn credits while he rules with an iron fist. All offenses in the settlement are capital offenses. The residents benefit from the high security and lucrative market which attracts wayward traders and smugglers to offload their goods and take on new ones. The residents are not per-say loyal to their lord but have come to trust his judgment for the most part, credits are stronger than bonds as they say. Filagrim and the residents view Deathwatch and Vizsla with interest, equal parts equitable future business partners and potential life changing/ending danger. They will take a neutral stance while seeing how their interaction with the Mandalorian Clan develops, though credits to them always speak the loudest.
