Competition: The Heart of Riquis

Prompt: Your character has volunteered to be part of one of the two expedition teams securing the area around the breach. Dozens of tunnels lead to dozens of Caverns, and they all need to be searched and cleared of hostile fauna and pirate scavengers.

Rules In at least 500 words, write a fiction about how one of your character braves the dangers of the volcanic subterranean system. Any struggle, traversal or combat should be included and pivotal to the events of the story.
