Insignia are the defining image of an organization, able to be recognized from afar to display the presence of someone or something to all that can see it.

The Arcona Starfighter Corps (ASC) is no different. While not as numerous as the army or as physically imposing as the navy, the Starfighter Corps is likely the most famous branch of the Arconan military, despite technically being a sub-branch of the navy. After all, starfighter pilots are known for shooting targets on the ground and in the sky, sometimes operating as a sort of special forces by landing their smaller ships behind enemy lines and moving about on foot. They are as apt to have good teamwork as they are to be skilled individuals. Those that aren't are usually culled by the school of hard knocks. As a result, they may end up as quasi-celebrities, with combat aces and exceptional squadron commanders becoming poster-children for recruiting and morale. Because not everyone can fly at high speeds in a small craft to deliver high-yield firepower against Arcona's enemies.

For this competition, you will create an image that embodies the ASC, which could be found on a flag within a headquarters building or as a patch on a soldier's uniform. Grading will be based on the following criteria:

• Quality (30%): This is a gauge of both apparent effort into the image, the image's sharpness/clarity, and of the ease which it could be applied to different fictional uses (flag vs patch vs advertisement, etc).
  
• Distinguishable (25%): Can one infer from the insignia, without it containing words, what it is meant to represent? If seen from afar, could someone tell whose logo it was separate from anyone else's?
  
• Applicable (25%): Does the insignia "fit" the unit it is trying to represent? Is any symbolism used appropriate to its role, unit type, or other facets of its fictional background?
• Complexity (10%): Is the insignia a "busy" image or is it simple? Is it appropriately busy/simple relative to the unit or body it is representing?
• Grader's Preference (10%): Speaks for itself. Also used for tie-breaking.

All entries must be submitted as either JPEG or PNG file types. Images containing inappropriate material will be disqualified; insignia comprised entirely or predominantly of text may also be disqualified. All images must be original and created by the member; AI-generated images are not allowed under any circumstance.
