Competition: Wargame 1

Wargame 1

Specifics

With the military newly restructured and reformed, there is an opening for officers who are willing to serve. Although there are many openings, a level of excellence is expected from our officers. This is your chance to shine. The two scenarios outlined below are based on real life engagements. The units may not be exactly the same as what was outlined, but the possibility for success remains nonetheless. Your objective is to give me a winning solution for both of the scenarios outlined below.

For these scenarios, the enemy is in red, your forces are in green. Boxes with an x through them mark infantry, with a slash are cavalry and boxes with boxes inside are armor. Good luck.

Scenario 1:

Three days forced march in pursuit of an enemy who had abandoned their capital has resulted in a stalemate in a hilly area on the border. The field commander has fallen ill and is incapable of conducting an offensive to properly defeat the enemy army. The enemy has arrayed itself on the high ground, but lacks the cavalry to take your own out. He has dug in and is preparing to fight a defense battle along the ridge line. To the south, your right flank, enemy reinforcements are on the move with an additional 15 divisions of infantry and a full 10 cavalry divisions, they are estimated to be less than 4 days march. You must act now.

Scenario 2:

An assault has resulted in chaos. Your forces were close to achieving a breakthrough on the enemy center, when enemy reinforcements arrived and delivered a crushing blow to your left flank and crippled it. You are now forced to retreat across a narrow bridge, with the remainder of the army. Your commander is dead and you have assumed command. The 4 enemy armor divisions will not be alone for long, reinforcements are less than 2 hours away. You must get the bulk of your army across the river now, where you can link up with the reserves under the command of Lt. Gen. Korras.
