Primary reason

Koryn Thraagus is a big part of the heart and soul of Scholae Palatinae. His fearsome dedication to the house, unending work ethic, and unyielding presence in the house has made him one of the greatest members we have to offer. Today I have the great honor of recommending his promotion to Krath Archpriest, something that he has long been deserving.

To begin to understand the importance Koryn has for this house we must first step back and look as HSP’s long run as a unit. As a member of Scholae Palatinae for his entire career, he has spent much of that time looking to give back to the unit. Most of the time he has spent as an active member, has also been spent giving back in some form of Leadership role. Following the declanning of all the DJB units, Koryn moved in to help lead Battleteam Acclivis Draco on two different occasions. There he worked hard and consistently to provide a positive atmosphere for the Battleteam, and took it with the same amount of seriousness that suited running a house, not a battleteam.

But much more importantly, in January 2013, Koryn stepped up into the role of House Rollmaster. In HSP at least, this position’s primary focus is on the Journeymen, and getting as many as possible active and up to DJK. This is also concurrent with the expectation of being fully involved as Summit member and working on improving the House as a whole. Rollmaster can be an especially frustrating position because of the majority of the work there dealing with new members. Whereas Aedile and Quaestor can see returns on activity from everyone in the house, it is very easy to get down in the dumps when you are primarily looking at the new members who sign up and do nothing.

But this has not stopped Koryn one bit in the last nineteen months as Rollmaster. He meets and exceeds the expectations of Rollmaster both in his constant and rapid efforts to connect with the Journeymen of the house, and his efforts in helping with other house projects. In fact, late last year he was awarded a DC, as part of a “secret signup” test Muz ran to see how each unit responded to new members being processed into the house, all thanks to the quick and thorough nature of his reply. Koryn wastes no time in contacting new members, checking in with ones who have been signed up for a while, and looking for different ways to approach him. He has complete control over the Master/Student system here in the house, and has done a fabulous job matching up Journeymen with masters who get along well personality wise, as well as are able to help push the Journeymen up and forward as outstanding members of the House.

There isn’t a clearer example of Koryn’s fantastic work in dealing with Journeymen then looking at his relationship with his former student Lucyeth, who now sits proudly as one of Scholae Palatinae’s excellent DJKs and active members. Koryn focused Lucyeth’s excitement and drive in to turning Lucyeth from nooblet to kickass member. His efforts there paid off so well in fact, Lucyeth now sits as BTL of Acclivis Draco, a position Koryn himself held before becoming Rollmaster. This isn’t some fluke either, as his current student, Zagro is flying up the ranks and is quickly establishing himself as a great force here in HSP. Koryn really and truly knows how to connect with the new members of the house and turn them into amazing members for the club.

Koryn’s impact can be felt in other ways too. Late last year as the Crusade ended, the House started a series of House Events, each focused on a different planet. Koryn both took charge for the Antenora fiction/plot line of this event (His work as a former Acclivis Draco leader left him with a lot of knowledge about the planet), he also came up with the idea of Fias Zhan, something that has incredibly changed the direction of the current house plot and direction. Zhan, a villainous Imperial looking to take over the Empire in the Cocytus system both gave a unifying theme and enemy to this entire line of planetary events, and helped give a great boost in house activity across the board. The LHC - Antenora Event was all Koryn’s work, and he showed he had more chops than most in terms of bringing together an awesome focused event for the house. The current house plot line simply would not be anything near as awesome or unified had he not run both this event and given us this great villain.

Koryn doesn’t shy away from feedback and criticism when it comes to other house projects and efforts either. If there is one person I know I can count on to look at what is going on and give genuine feedback it is Koryn. A lot of people would be burnt out after nineteen months of Summit work. I am incredibly grateful for Koryn’s continued effort as Rollmaster and support as we continue to push HSP forward into a new age.

On top of being a long standing and hardworking Summit member, I know I can rely on Koryn to make a showing in whatever is going on in the club. He has not missed a vendetta, and has shown many times what it means to lead by example. Over the course of the Crusade, Koryn was both active, and a strong member of our “Special Forces” team, but a winning submitter to events too. He earned 15 Seals of the Crusader from the Crusade, and another one from the Fading Light Runon. He snagged 2 Bronze Nova from submissions on Ashas Ree and Korriz. He got 3 Seals of Remembrance from last years Independance Games, and 6 Seals of Affliction from the Horizons event. He earned more seals back in GJW X. If HSP needs active members, Koryn is always among them.

In total from participation around the club, vendettas and normal competitions alike, Koryn has earned a multitude of Crescents, 3 Nova, 2 Anteian Crosses, 3 Dark Crosses, and both Clusters of Ice and of Fire. He has been active in normal competitions, DJB Wide Vendettas, Competitions against other units (Like the Summer Invasion) and part of the major house events. Where some members wax and wane in terms of activity, Koryn is there putting out quality stuff every single time.

Koryn is more than an exemplary member and leader. I am truly grateful for Koryn’s unending dedication to Scholae Palatinae and bettering the club. I couldn’t ask for a better Rollmaster and Summit member. HSP is without a doubt better off because of his efforts. Congratulations Koryn, drinks are on you!

Additional reasons

First off, I am honored to recommend Koryn for such a grand promotion that is very difficult for many to achieve.

Koryn Thraagus is an outstanding member House Scholae Palatinae and the Brotherhood at large. He is the current rollmaster of the house for as long as I can remember and continues to do an outstanding job within his role. He is an active participant in Brotherhood activites as part of the Dark Crusades as well as the Fading Light Run-on. His activity and efforts within the house are truly recognized and functions well from his contributions.

Koryn is also an extraordinary mentor. As rollmaster, he knoes how to help people who need some direction and is the first line of contact for journeymen looking for promotion help. I knew Koryn since I was a mere novice and I am where I am at now because of his help.

Whether it be a house member, a student or mentor, I believe that Koryn Thraagus has more than deserved this promotion.

Congratulations buddy, Drinks are on you!

Lucyeth, 2014-08-05 06:24:16 UTC

It has been over three years since Koryn returned to the Dark Jedi Brotherhood from the rogues as he found more time post uni to House Scholae Palatinae as a Krath Priest. He quickly found himself back as an active member and friend of those around him. Eventually, given some resignations and changes, Xen was looking to build up some new leaders in the House, and chose Koryn and myself to become BTL of the two teams in HSP. Working alongside Koryn and discussing plans for our units, he spent some time organizing a competition of his own and getting to know the members. It was a busy 3 months, but too short when Koryn was called on by Xen to join the House summit as Rollmaster to fill a critical vacant role in the House.

Koryn has served as Rollmaster, maintaining the same great level of commitment and service for the past 18 months. He has brought a level of stability to one of the most important roles in a unit, and guided new members as they joined. Testament to his contributions are the great new members that now fill the rosters of Scholae Palatinae who have risen in the past several years. He has greeted, educated, helped, and assigned various members to Masters to support their long term success in the DJB. He has also taken on apprentices of his own as time allows, helping Lucyeth attain the rank of Dark Jedi Knight during this past year and currently helping train up the next one. He does so without needing reminders, and makes things happen so everyone else is free to worry about their own work.

Above his own primary role as Rollmaster, Koryn has been active on the House summit as well. He has helped to drive and create NPCs and plot lines for major House wide events. This included co-organizing a 7 event major House event for a portion of the Looking Home Campaign on Antenora. He has offered his counsel with asked for in many different House wide matters I was also included during my tenure as BTL of Caliburnus.

He is encouraging and supporting, but he is also a member who leads by example. He has participated in 34 different competitions, showing up in all the major events of the past several years; Summer Invasion, GJW X, Horizons, Independence Games, Fading Light, the Dark Crusade, and major House wide events of the Looking Home Campaign. Through participation in these events, he has earned 7 crescents and 3 novae, as well as 2 Anteian Crosses and 1 Dark Cross for his efforts. On top of all these competitions where he practices his writing he has found time to earn his Dark Maven of Flight from the Shadow Academy to better prepare himself for future events. I highlight all this to show that even on top of his own leadership activities, Koryn has been a solid and active member representing the House as a DJB wide level and internally.

It has been a solid three straight years for Koryn, of which I've had the pleasure of working with him for the past several. It is for this and all the reasons above that I strongly believe that for all his works and accomplishments he is more than deserving of this promotion to Krath Archpriest. He has given back so much to the community and been a key player in the successes of House Scholae Palatinae, as well as a great friend. Congratulations Koryn. See you on the battlefield, for the Empire!

Koryn Thraagus is an amazing mentor and a staunch advocate of all the pillars that this organization represents. Koryn took me in as his apprentice when I joined HSP and never allowed me to be alone and afraid. Under his mentorship and support I have felt free to branch out and assert myself and launch headfirst into all facets that the DJB has to offer.

Thraagus is a leader. He has helped me in many ways and all of the success I have achieved so far in my career is due to his guidance and supportive leadership. He executes at a superior level of performance and is a role model for new members to look up to. Koryn strongly deserves the accolades he has achieved and clearly is worthy of advancement.

Koryn has been an integral part of our House for years, and he has been an excellent Rollmaster for Scholae Palatinae for the past 18 months. His service as Battleteam Leader of Acclivis Draco in two different stints helped Scholae during three different DJB-wide vendettas.

In addition to his leadership within the House, Koryn has been a great competitor over the past three years. Winner of over a dozen crescents and novae, our rollmaster has led from the front. His work as a master is also excellent as he has led Lucyeth to Knighthood, and he has another student who is within striking distance of his elevation to the top of the Journeyman ladder.

Congratulations on this well earned promotion!

Koryn is a stalwart member of House Scholae Palatinae, one of our best and brightest. One of our most consistent members, Koryn has lived up our expectations in his position as Rollmaster, and has maintained a great level of activity through competitions. He deserves the highest praise possible!

Archangel Palpatine, 2014-08-06 06:56:40 UTC

Koryn Thraagus is a name, which is widely recognized among the members of House Scholae Palatinae. Not only because he is the Rollmaster of the Imperial House and, thus, interacts with every incoming member of the House. More importantly, he is a truly active member. Since his last promotion, which took place four (4!) years ago, he has earned multiple Seals, Novae, Clusters of Ice and Clusters of Fire, as well as 3 Dark Crosses and 1 Anteian Cross.

Koryn has also been an outstanding Rollmaster. His impressive speed in welcoming new members has been noticed even by the Grand Master, who awarded him a Dark Cross for his work. Koryn is always there to discuss various matters with the Summit members. As the Aedile of House Scholae Palatinae, I have had great pleasure to work with Koryn on the daily basis and to observe his zeal and professionalism, which are his distinguishing marks.

Koryn is also a kind person, who is always willing to help comrades, who are in need of advice or assistance. One of examples that prove his helpful attitude towards other members of the House is the fact that he has proofread many of my reports, when I was the Aedile of the House. It was very important to me, as thanks to his hard work, one of my reports serve as an exemplary one in the Leadership Reports course in the Shadow Academy, which is a great honour to me. It would not be possible without Koryn's help.

Finally, the position of the Rollmaster is probably one of the most important and the most unrewarding positions in the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. Despite that, Koryn has proven himself to be an extremely hard-working person, who makes his service as the Rollmaster a truly fruitful one. Thus, I believe that Koryn has more than deserved the promotion to the rank of Krath Archpriest as a recognition of his merits to the Imperial House and to the Dark Jedi Brotherhood.
