Evant does not knowingly seek out conflict just for the sake of conflict and proving himself. His conflict strives only from protecting his friends and the Brotherhood. He wouldn't put the Brotherhood or himself in harms way just to prove a point or prove that one is better than the other like a Sith might. Yet he is still fueled by passion and hate and the dark side.
