Primary reason

When I think of Edgar Drachen, I think of the perfect leadership partner. I think of someone who will go far in the upper echelons of this club. I think of someone that bends over backwards to make sure other members have a safe and enjoyable environment to game, write and art in. There is no doubt that Edgar has been one of the best leaders I have ever served with, but he has also been one of the most active as well. Usually I see leaders fall victim to focusing most on the administrative side of leading, but that’s not the case with Edgar Drachen.

Over the past nine (9) months, Edgar has secured himself a Grand Cross, a Dark Cross, eight (8) Crescents with Diamond Star, nineteen (19) Crescents with Ruby Star, thirteen (13) Crescents with Amethyst Star, ten (10) Crescents with Sapphire Star, a Crescent with Emerald Star, two (2) Crescents with Topaz Star, fourteen (14) Pendants of Blood, an amazing two thousand four hundred and twenty-seven (2,427) Clusters of Fire, nineteen (19) Clusters of Ice, seven hundred forty-one (741) Clusters of Earth, ten (10) Clusters of Graphite and a Scroll of the Master. This shows that Edgar is a dedicated and active member of the Brotherhood as a whole, showing his gaming skills on top. To add to his dedication to leadership, Edgar has organized twenty-nine (29) competitions and participated in over two hundred himself! Accenting those competitions, his gaming has been shown through his participation in two hundred ninety-four (294) PvE activities and one hundred ten (110) PvP activities. He keeps up with his fiction as well, participating in five (5) of those, netting him over eight thousand (8,000) words. When you’ve just started thinking he’s done enough, he shows that the Shadow Academy is not a foreign place for him, having satisfactorily completed twenty-one (21) courses and claiming two (2) degrees.

Edgar’s general activity alone does not show the kind of member he truly is, however. For the past nine (9) months he has continued serving as the Aedile for House Hoth, and has been doing a tremendous job at it. His timely posting of news reports for the House has been like clockwork, releasing nine (9) of those to support his time as a leader. His reports always include question responses where members can get his thoughts on what is happening within the DB so that he is a more transparent leader. Recently Edgar has been hosting the Clan Odan-Urr Life Day event, which has a plethora of competitions available within it for members to participate in, which all of it is solely ran by Edgar himself. It is most impressive to see him cover every aspect of Brotherhood activity in such a large competition by himself. Prior to Life Day, Edgar worked with myself and the Summit of Hoth’s sister house, Satele Shan, to create a series of competitions for both units to participate in as sort of a feud practice event, known as “Battle Formations.” Much of the planning for this event included Edgar and he gave it his all to ensure the events were properly hyped and listed for both units to be aware of. I credit his level of daily reminders to seeing his unit, Hoth, coming out as victor for the event. All in all, when in doubt, Edgar could be viewed as one of the most competent and active leaders in the Brotherhood, at least in my opinion, showing that you can not only be administrative, but also full of activity.

Edgar, you’ve shown me and the rest of the Summit that you more than deserve this promotion. Hoth would not be where it is today without you and I see you only skyrocketing through the ranks from here. Continue to lead with the passion you have shown since I came to the Clan and carry that passion with you wherever you go, especially to your new Praetor position. Congratulations on Equite 3, Edgar Drachen. I cannot wait to see what else you are able to achieve in your career.

Additional reasons

Others have covered Edgar’s accomplishments in detail so I will try not to repeat anything but it needs to be said that his raw numbers are simply staggering. I preach “lead from the front” in terms of activity to all my subordinate leaders and Edgar not only does that but he absolutely, 100%, puts me to shame and I am no slouch on keeping up individual activity. Simply put, Edgar is one of the best leaders I have ever had the pleasure of working within the Brotherhood. If there’s a better event/competition promoter than him, I have yet to see that person. His passion for taking care of the members in his unit is also an inspiration to me. He holds himself and the rest of the Summit accountable to ensure that members are properly recognized and administratively taken of in a timely manner.

I can state definitely that Odan-Urr would not be where it is today without Edgar. He has had a direct and measurable impact on not only the Clan’s activity levels but the very sense of community and quality of life of our members. He has proven himself worthy of elevation to the upper Equite ranks many times over and I have no doubt he will see Elder one day.

Congrats my friend!

Edgar Drachen is one of those members who everybody knows of; He is someone who will always be seen at the forefront of any competition, striving to perform for the Clan - just by looking at the statistics of his participation alone is enough to make anyone realise that as a member Edgar is one of the best members the Clan has ever had. Alongside the sheer effort he puts into participating within the Dark Brotherhood, Edgar does something that is imperative to the growth and the spirit of Clan Odan-Urr, he is a cheerleader and he does this relentlessly, nothing stops him from pushing himself and other members to participate and do better in each and every competition they can and for that he has rightly earned the respect of each and every member of the Clan.

Throughout my time on Odan-Urr summits it has always been a pleasure to know and watch Edgar do his thing, his pure dedication to the Clan as a Leader and a member leaves me in absolutely no doubt that he is deserving of the promotion to Equite 3 and I am certain that should he continue on this path we will find ourselves looking at an Elder Edgar soon enough.

Congratulations and well deserved!

I'm in Odan-Urr because of Edgar. Not just because he recruited me to the Clan - that's just good luck. No, I'm here today because Edgar made this place my home, as he has done for so many others in this Clan. A Journeyman can have no better friend in the Brotherhood. Arcia shared the truly staggering number of Clusters, Crescents, competitions, etc. above, but the thing about Edgar is that he's not doing these things alone. He's a born ringleader, and routinely pulls other Odanites in for gaming. COU has been extremely well-represented in the GMRG leaderboard this past year in no small part because of Edgar's nightly efforts to round up a posse to earn CFs. If he sees a gap in the current competitions at any level, he runs something to fill it. If he see a comp that isn't getting the participation it should, Ed's the first to plug it in chat.

He's a natural mentor, because he genuinely cares about the people around him - not just in Hoth, but throughout the club. If a member only has one hour free to participate in a PVP competition, and doesn't have anyone to play with, they need only say the word and Edgar will appear on whatever platform they need, just to make sure that everyone who wants to participate can do so. If you need someone to talk to, Ed will listen. If you're not confident in your writing but you want to give it a try, Ed will be the first person to write alongside you. This club has been there for him during some tough times, and Edgar is going to make damn sure it's there for everyone else when they need it.

As an Aedile, as far into leadership as most members ever venture, Ed has just scratched the surface of what he can do. I have no doubts that as a Praetor and beyond, Ed will prove to be an utterly indispensible member of the DB for years to come.

Becoming a higher level Equite means you are stepping out of the “consumer” role in the DJB and into the “producer” role. When you look at Edgar’s activity record since last promotion, you have to wonder if he understands that you can choose one or the other and not do both. He is one of COU’s most prolific competition consumers. He is one of those people that took the phrase “Do all the things” and run with it. On top of that he has constantly offered new content to both House Hoth and COU. The key grouping of competitions I want to highlight here is the 18 event behemoth known as Life Day that covers the month of December. Beyond him being an active producer and consumer for Hoth and COU, he is a constant bother on Telegram. He has no issue chatting with members both new and old, and offers advice to those who ask for it without hesitation. He does not hesitate to lead by example and dig in with members and find what they want to do. He is one of the group of “new members” that I foresee will usher in a new Golden Age for the DJB. Members who have not yet grown that crust around them and feel the need to bring forth and try new ideas to help us to continue to thrive and grow in our niche of the internet.

Congratulations on Equite 3 my friend. Your deeds as the Eddiephotamus has pleased Bahamut once more!

General Takota Okami, 2016-12-19 05:12:01 UTC

I joined the DB just a month or two before Edgar, and I remember watching him shoot up to Knight, and onto constantly bigger and brighter things. Every single promotion and award given to Edgar has been well and truly deserved. One of the fantastic reasons for this is his enthusiasm, work ethic, and endless well of motivation. When Edgar puts his mind to something, he makes sure it is done, not only thoroughly, but quickly and in great condition.

Each month, I accumulate all the statistics throughout the Clan, and, consistently, Edgar achieves the most, whether it be thousands of CoFs, or competition participation well exceeding the average. I would award him with the Member of the Month most months, if I went off of activity alone. It is not only damn impressive, but very inspiring. Edgar is very much a lead-from-the-front guy, and it is fantastic to see his regular competition round-up, either on the mailing list or on Telegram. In addition to this, he recently was part of the 3-man team to complete a 41-page Leadership Guide, to further show his amazing contributions to the Clan and the club!

His Telegram energy and presence is phenomenal, encouraging members to activity, as well as chatting. Edgar is very much a pillar of Odan-Urr’s community. Edgar is the kind of guy who can be single-handedly the person who makes a project a success. He puts the time, effort and energy into all that he does, and it’s about time he be recognised for his tireless efforts.

Congratulations, Edgar! Well and truly deserved, my friend.

Edgar… oh where to begin with him. Even before I joined COU Edgar has always been willing to help me out with anything I need that he was able to help with be it ranting, gaming, or just having general conversations. The man is always there for his members with whatever they need, even if it kills him. As Esca/Arcia mentioned above, he’s a beacon of activity but a majority of that he didn’t even do for himself, he did it helping other members of the clan and brotherhood. This promotion isn’t enough to show just how much he is appreciated, but it is a good start.

Edgar is an amazing member and I’m happy to be able to be apart of him getting this promotion, and I’m pleased to congratulate him in this achievement.
