Primary reason

Years ago, a Dark Jedi Knight approached me, asking how he could eventually reach EQ3, considering he never expected to serve as Aedile, yet the promotion guidelines stated that was needed. Now, here we are. His expectation was right, he so far has not yet served as Aedile, but not because of a lack of skill! He is more comfortable as BTL, which I only applaud. However, he did reach EQ2.

That alone would already say a lot about him. However, today I want to go a step further. I fully see him ready for yet another promotion. Since his last promotion, he has been busy, to say the least. He proofread more then 7500 words of fiction. He assisted the Voice with the Character Creation Guide rewrite in a major way, participated in more events then would be decent to write out, as the total is over a 100, scoring 2 gold novae, 1 Diamond Crescent, and 6 Ruby Crescents along the way, and wrote almost 25000 words of fiction. Let that number sink in for a bit: 25000. I have heard of thesises that had less then that.

Besides all that, he has been an excellent Battleteam Leader, who is doing his best to motivate his team, and prepare them for upcoming events. He might not have have served higher then that, but I do believe he more then earned this promotion.

Congratulations, Reiden!

Additional reasons

I remember the few times Reiden would talk about how he thought he'd never get to EQ 3, and I must say, I am very proud t prove him wrong. Reiden has been a very dedicated member in CSP, and has gone far and beyond helping with projects, taking part in various comps, and even helping out others within the clan. Reiden was a golden star for Scholae Palatinae in the Pro Bowl 3 games, and has proven that he can be unstoppable when he puts his mind to it. Especially at puzzles. He has placed in various competitions and events, serving as a shooting star of inspiration to others. He truly represents the spirit of Scholae Palatinae, and I am very honored to see him rise up to EQ 3.

Congratulations, Reiden! May you continue to shine for all to see.

Shadow Nighthunter

Aedile of House Imperium

Blade Mistress Shadow Nighthunter, 2018-09-05 14:45:43 UTC

It is a great pleasure to be able to create this recommendation to recognize Reiden Palpatine Karr for his activity since his last promotion. What is most delightful about this is how it is likely to be completely out of left field for him, however I’m happy to argue why he is ready for promotion - even if that needs to be for him. Reiden is by far one of CSP’s most indispensable members, I have a core group that comes to mind that I think of Scholae Palatinae and Reiden is easily in the top five on that list. Not only are we lucky to have such an indispensable member but we are doubly lucky to have him in a positioned role as well; in fact, on a personal level, I’ve found that Reiden has been the most indispensable member of Imperium both in his role as Battleteam Leader and before as a member. His commitment to our causes, dedication as a regular active member, and his growing voice as an advisor is actually the kind of thing Imperium needed most over this past year has contributed to the growth of his Battleteam, House Imperium, and in turn the clan. Over the past 16 months he's done amazing work as a leader, project coordinator, and content generator for our Clan - especially for Krennic & Imperium. Beyond that, he's been an amazing member from the perspective of personal activity and it is my strong belief he is ready for elevation to Equite 3.

As an explanation of my belief, I see Reiden’s activity as having three separate categories; personal activity, projects, & leadership activity. When it comes to personal activity, Reiden has participated in 109 competitions, while co-organizing 22, earned 32 crescents, completed 13 PvP matches, 8 PVE activities, 1 ACC battle, 12 other fiction activities, 24647 words of fiction, completed 6 SA courses and 1 degree, while making 5 reports or newspots and 5 comments on the website. In addition, since he was last promoted he’s earned 1 Grand Cross, 2 Gold Nova, 5 PoB, 46 Clusters of fire, 57 cluster of ice, 27 cluster of graphite, and 14 seal of wrath. However, in addition to these statistics, I’d like to further draw attention to some notable achievements Reiden has made. In addition to the competitions he’s competed in, he has also had 11 1st-place finishes, 14 2nd-place finishes, and 6 3rd-place finishes from these entries. This isn’t surprising as Reiden always throws his all into a submission to make sure it is of great and competitive quality - often being counted on for his Puzzle mastery. Additionally, Reiden is a well rounded member who competes in most of the DB activities, from fiction, to misc-events, to gaming and ACC activities whenever possible - having been a major role model for all to get out and try new things. Often I find myself having to encourage junior leaders to not forget about their own personal activity once they are positioned - yet, even before I was Proconsul and was Quaestor to Reiden, I’ve never once had to concern myself if he was being active and setting a good example - as Reiden is easily our clans most active member and has always been at the front of Scholae Palatinae’s activity for as long as I can remember. Truly, CSP is blessed by his presence on this front.

In addition to the personal activity, as the second category I mentioned above, Reiden has been instrumental to the Clan’s development as a community through his project work. Reiden has often been the first to step up to help out with any clan projects especially if we are struggling for volunteer. Very often, Reiden puts the clan first - himself last; making sure that want needs to get done is being done. Whether it has been actively involved in navigating the military purchase discussion, co-running competitions to canonize aspects of our new world and seeing these uploaded to the wiki, or being a sounding board for the clan’s discussions; Reiden has always been one of the first involved and this is something I definitely appreciate. He’s become an advisor to me, whether he knows it or not, as his reasoning is sound and he isn’t afraid to share his opinion. This has been prevalent in our discussions regarding the clan land grant project, where Reiden has been one of the more active members in the discussions (second only to Kadrol) and has helped shared the entire project. Furthermore, this input of his has been most beneficial for our discussion on leadership strategies, especially the BT Redevelopment project, whether it be on the improvements for the Battleteams, his House, or the clan as a whole; he hasn’t shied away from duty. In addition, Reiden has been an active participant in our CSP Proofreaders project, having proof a total of 8155 words over the course of the project. Furthermore, as Marick will likely add to in his recommendation, Reiden has had involvement with the Character Creaiton Guide re-write that the Voice office spearheaded, showing that Reiden has contributed to project work outside of the clan as well as within it.

Finally, in terms of positioned leadership, for over seven months Reiden took his team from foundation done by Wagglehorn and myself and has been serving as the Battleteam leader of Krennic. From this position, Reiden has contributed and developed the growing war machine that is Imperium and kept it’s momentum going. As his main resource, regular communication, Reiden has kept his unit informed through regular monthly reports, daily use of telegram, and promotion of the Battleteam’s and House’s channel. In addition, he has been a regular contributor to summit discussions on both the House and Clan levels, helped organize our clan discussions, and managed and aligned his Battleteam’s goals with that of the units above to insure a consistency of services while focusing on making Krennic it’s own community within the house and clan. Furthermore, Reiden on a daily basis acts a rolemodel for all - whether it be through his personal activity or through his daily communication on our channels; not one is more active. And this as even developed in Reiden taking a leadership role in the channels, mediating issues, warning those that spam the channels, or talking to those that potential bring negative attitudes to the clan community. For someone who hates to think of himself as a leader in our community, Reiden is nearly a perfect example of what we want to see in our next generation of leaders - if only we could give him some more self-confidence and belief in himself like he does for others :D

Finally, in terms of personal thanks, it has been awesome to see just how well Reiden has jumped into the leadership life within the Brotherhood. Though I know he hasn’t had high ambitions in terms of DJB positions, noting many times to the rest of the summit he doesn’t want to advance past Battleteam leader, Reiden has all the markings of a grand leader. Whether he wishes to continue to use that on a close knit team or larger scale; he will better whatever unit he choses to lead and I’m appreciative of how much he does for Krennic as well as his work outside of that unit. I look at Reiden of a shining example of someone taking the roles and opportunities seriously to develop a positive community that others want to be a part of. Reiden genuinely cares for the people under his charge and actively looks to take care of them - whether it be through the communication methods used above or in conversations with the clan summit and our planning; he is always been focused on making his community the best it came be. I’m glad to add my support to this recommendation to recognize the efforts of a great member, leader, and friend. Congrats Reiden, you’ve earned this.

Belarius Pwyll

Proconsul of Clan Scholae Palatinae

Warden Lontra Boglach, 2018-09-05 21:48:46 UTC

The club has many talented people at many things, but I don't quite think anyone in the club is as good at anything as Reiden is at puzzles, taking two gold nova in the GJW, miles ahead of the rest of the field. The purpose of a DB wide puzzle competition is to find out who comes second after Reiden.

For one of the most active members of Scholae Palatinae over many years, a reliable source of activity, a points-winner in vendettas, and recently a leader, I think Reiden for everything he's done and congratulate him on this hard earned promotion.
