Primary reason

The Ruby Scepter is awarded for significant contributions in the area of instruction, invention, and mentorship. I can think of no one who sums up these three key areas any more than Manesh Sadow.

In Manesh's 11 months since becoming CNS Consul he has served with his members at the very front of his every action. Manesh dedicated himself to improving their experience in the Dark Brotherhood and ensuring they they enjoyed their time while in this organization.

Manesh's style of leadership served CNS well through the last year and his dedication to his Clan as a whole will serve them for the years to come. His focus on the individual and on ensuring everyone had a say set his Clan up as one of the most democratic and well run in the DB.

Congratulations Manesh!

Grand Master Sarin
DLOS
---------------------------------------

Manesh is one of the few people in the Dark Brotherhood who I doubt I'll ever really forget. He was my first Quaestor and one of the few people I really got to know properly back when I first joined the club. He stood by me during my run in with the High Court of Inquisitors and is probably one of the main reasons I'm still here today, for back then most people would have cut all ties with me and that would have been the end of that. It demonstrated the immense degree of trust Manesh places in people in that he was willing to not only appoint someone so new but someone with a shady record also to be his second Aedile. For that Manesh will always have my thanks.

What is there to really say that everyone else won't already have said? Manesh is one of the few people in this club who I have known who I can truly say embodies what I believe to be the soul of the Dark Brotherhood: fun. He isn't one to care about medals or rank, it has always a surprise he ended up where he is, for there was a time long ago when he persistently turned Proconsul down because all he wanted was to enjoy his time as Quaestor. His desire to enjoy the Dark Brotherhood filters down onto those he leads and it is that influence that I feel has made firstly House Ludo Kressh and later the whole Clan what it is today. A lot of people like to, in my view somewhat mistakenly, give me credit for many of the Clan's successes, but it is people like Manesh who trained me, and it is people like Manesh who deserve thanks too. Throughout his time in the Clan he has fostered a sense of identity and spirit that has manifested itself in a family that extends beyond a mere online club. Most of the people who know Manesh know the man beyond the PC, not the make believe Dark Jedi. Both now and in the past when he has retired before those who know him have sought to stay in touch, which is testament to the kind of man he is.

While Manesh will probably look back on his time as Consul and feel he could have done better what he and all of us need remember is the lesson he himself always teaches: that one man doesn't make a Clan. The past year has been hard, not just in Clan Naga Sadow, nor the Dark Brothehood, but for Star Wars as a whole. The franchise has had a slow year and that inevitably impacts on us. That isn't Manesh's fault, it isn't Sarin's fault, it isn't Muz's fault. I consider myself very lucky to have had people like Manesh, Muz, Sildrin, Manji, Macron and Malisane, just to name a few, active in the Clan when I was Consul. For a period when the Clan would have struggled no matter who was in charge, Manesh has done a tremendous job succeeding in leading it through its greatest ever victory in a Great Jedi War. Trev always likes to look back and say he was the best because the Clan came second when he was Consul, there is no reason now why Manesh cannot do the same. Irrespective of the future, Manesh leaves the Clan in the hands of a capable Summit, an achievement in itself given the challenges he has faced this past year with some of its members.

History is a fickle mistress and it is all too easy to forget what people have achieved. Some of the greatest figures in history have fallen from grace but are nonetheless remembered for the way they lived. While the last few months may not have been the easiest for him, Manesh's career is one that has spanned the better part of a decade and it should be reflected on as such. The Ruby Scepter is the mark of a leader, a mentor, an instructor. If there is one thing I could say Manesh has been over the past decade to many it is a mentor and with the passage of time I am sure it is for that he will be remembered.

Xanos Zorrixor
Son of Sadow

------------------------------------

I usually don't write recommendations that often for major awards or
promotions, much less for those outside Taldryan. It's hard to see
everything someone does when they are in another Clan and you just interact
now and then. Manesh is an exception to that. From what I've seen he's had a
roller coaster ride in Naga Sadow since taking on Consul last year. After an
impressive finish in the GJW last year he's tried his best to guide the Clan
through that unsettled time between Wars, and from what I can see it's been
tough. I know the road of a Clan leader is stressful, at times too much for
anyone. Like someone said to me before, being a Consul is the hardest
position in the Brotherhood, which I completely agree with much of the time.
I'm sure some love him, others not so much, but you have to recognize and
respect what he's done for the good of the Clan such as helped members
develop and the Clan develop fictionally over time. He has my respect for
efforts and loyalty to his Clan, knowing when it's time to move on, and for
being an upright guy towards me. Thanks Manesh, and congrats on the award.

For Taldryan,

Obelisk Primarch Duga Taldrya Arkarso
Consul and Son of Clan Taldryan
Planetary Viceroy of Karufr, Regent of the Kr'Tal System

----------------------------

Manesh Sadow was one of the longest-lasting CNS Consuls. His performance was stellar, and he devoted a lot of time and effort into making this Clan a better place. In particular, his kindness and willingness to encourage and back-up all the members was great. His length of time in the DB and experience made for smooth operations, and his efforts to lead us during the last Great War were exemplary. Manesh gave me an opportunity as Proconsul and showed me the ropes, and I hope to continue his good works as Consul. The thing I learned the most was patience and kindness. Also, Manesh is a paragon of humility; even to the point of suggesting he did not deserve his last promotion (even through it was long overdue.) His historical campaigns were great. One of the things that impressed me the most was the SA Challenge- he allowed us as a Clan to vote on what SA course he would take that week. That was a great idea, and one I intend to take up after the War. The job of Consul is not an easy one, and he held it for a long time. Manesh deserves to be recognized for his hard work and dedication to this Clan and the Brotherhood as a whole.

SBL Mononoke "Macron" Keibatsu Sadow
CNS Consul
Fourth Caste of the Inner Order
