Primary reason

There’s a lot I can say about Marick Del’Abbot, or as he is commonly known on mIRC and Out-of-Character, Wally. He is loyal, dedicated, and a great leader as well as a fun person to work with. I could go on and on about the numerous things that Wally has done for House Arcona, but that would take quite a long time and I don’t want to keep Wally waiting.

To start off, Wally has served has the Battleteam Leader of Oblivion Brigade for over 6 months and he has done so with aplomb. Not only has Wally crafted a new identity for the Battleteam, changing it from just plain old infantry/intelligence to Black Operations, something that members found increasingly more developed, organized, and character-immersive. Wally’s brainchild, for that is what Oblivion is, has taken form in a design of armor, a wiki page, leader reports, and other things. But what really makes Wally break the mold in being a BTL is that he takes a personal interest in each of his new members, taking them on as “quasi-apprentices” and mentoring them up until they feel they can stand on their own two feet. Obviously, this makes Wally one of the most respected people in Arcona.

Besides being an exemplary Battleteam Leader, Wally is one heck of a hard worker and dedicated Clan member. Since I joined the Summit of Arcona (Wally preceded me by a few months), I developed nothing but respect for his work ethic, both concerning the running of his Team (see above) and also his gumption to help out the Clan in any way possible, mostly in the form of projects. Examples of these are the “Reb00t Reform” project that he proposed, drafted up, and presented to the Clan Summit with only minimal support. Another project that Wally single-handedly initiated was the then-Clan Arcona RunOn “No Rest for the Wicked”, which allowed many of the newer members in Arcona to get a taste of the House and really establish their characters.

Steering away from what Wally has done for others, we cannot overlook the impressive amount of activity that he has shown doing things for “himself”. Wally took to the Antei Combat Centre like a fish to water, participating in Arcona’s very own ACC-variant, the Arcona Arena, and successfully dueling 2 members of higher rank. More recently however, he entered and advanced to the Semi-Finals in the Journeyman Ladder and is currently fighting in the 2v2 Ladder. Because of the Combat Centre, Wally was one of the first Dark Jedi to earn himself multiple Clusters of Ice.

But wait! There’s more; Wally competes in a boat load of competitions (not to mention he runs them as well), both on the (former) House and Clan scale, netting himself a Crescent with Emerald Star for being the winner of the July Entry for the #Arcona webcomic.

In the last Rite of Supremacy, he earned himself four (4) Seals of Bone. A post-RoS study showed that Wally competed in every event that he could and not only that, he encouraged his Battleteam to the point that they were the most active unit in the Clan, coming close, if not even with, Soulfire Strike Team…this was when Oblivion Brigade consisted of only 3 active members.

Wrapping up; there’s very few Dark Jedi, if any really, that can come close to what Marick Del’Abbot (Wally) has done for his Battleteam, his House, his Clan, and the Brotherhood. From competing in Antei Combat Centre ladders, to being the narrator/moderator of Clan RunOns, developing his character and his Battleteam, and kicking butt in Vendettas, this is only a start to the list of things that Wally has done. Let us not forget that he is a fantastic mentor to new Arconans, seems to live on mIRC, is always active and raring to go, and an all around solid person.

Until the Dismantling, I was very privileged to be the Aedile of the House in which Wally commanded his unit and therefore, having multiple opportunities to work with him, get his advice, and watch him grow and affect others. And even though the Clans have been wiped out, I still find myself able to call Wally a friend. A great honor to be sure.

It’s time to reward you, Wally, for the excellent service you have rendered to Arcona, both in our former Qel-Droma, and today as House Arcona. A lot of your work is done behind the scenes and because of that, the according praise never seems to find you…that ends now. So congratulations, my friend, on this promotion. Kark knows you’ve earned it and I have no doubt that you will carry the mantle of Obelisk Templar with pride and dignity.

Arcona Invicta! ~Talos d’Tana Aedile (hdc), House Qel-Droma

Marick Del’Abbot has shown amazing promise as a Battle Team Leader, as an Arconan and as a member of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. His promising attitude, his attention to detail and his approachability have all come into factor during his tenure as Battle Team Leader and as a revered member of the Arconan family. He has a strong but positive outlook and the level of work he puts in is above and beyond his level. Over his time at Dark Jedi Knight, he has helped with a great many projects within Arcona, showing his promise as a leader and as a member and has never ceased to amaze the Arconan summit.

His accomplishments include:

Oblivion Brigade: Over his term as Battle Team Leader of Oblivion Brigade, he has made significant changes to the Battle Team in his quest to establish it as one of the leading teams in the Brotherhood. He has initiated an complete overhaul of Oblivion Brigade, making eighteen adjustments to the Wiki page, outlining the Battle Team’s significance in the, now closed, House Qel-Droma and its status as a ‘Special Operations’ branch of Arcona. This refurbishment has only helped to progress the Battle Team, the House and Arcona itself, showing the sheer amount of effort and dedication exemplified by this astounding individual. The complete destruction and re-establishment of a cornerstone in Arconan foundation only goes to exhibit the lengths Marick is willing to go to in order to complete a task significantly higher than expectation.

Project Reboot Reform: The Project Reboot Reform scheme was headed and authored by Marick himself. This reform consisted of an entire revamp of the original Project Reboot, and consisting of a substantial amount of research and dedication. He managed to write the reform, with the help of the summit and the Arconae, establishing a clear and concise path that Journeymen could follow on their passage to Arcona. The essential basis for this project was to establish a succinct route that Journeymen could take upon their ascension to the rank of Acolyte, wherein, they could then choose a Battle Team to become a part of. The research that was the foundation of such a significant scheme in Arcona is worthy or recognition itself, not to mention the authoring and editing that went with it.

Along with these projects, he has been an extremely active member of the Brotherhood. Even with his duties and responsibilities as Battle Team Leader of Oblivion Brigade, he has still managed to take on an unofficial apprentice by the name of Durzo, taking him under his wing and setting him in the right direction in Arcona. Along with this, he is a part-time, but active judge in the Arcona Arena, which can be seen through his judgment in the Erinos Three-Way Fight on the Arcona Forums to establish the Battle Team Leader of Soulfire Strike Team. This is a great responsibility and the level of enthusiasm he shows in this position is very much noteworthy.

Overall, Marick has been a blessing to Arcona. His devotion and keenness as a member and a friend has not gone unrecognized. If anyone asks for help Marick is always willing to oblige and provides a full and detailed level of guidance seldom seen in the confines of the Brotherhood, which I can admit I have been on the receiving end of. He has remained an active and professional leader, but he has also maintained his role as a member, shown through his participation in the DB-Wide ‘Junkyard’ Run-On, and the current ACC 2v2 Ladder. Along with this, Marick has also received a number of Crescents and Seals: another tribute to his dedication as an Arconan.

To conclude, I would say that Marick Del’Abbot has proven his worth as a member of the Brotherhood and as a brother to Arcona. His constant and unfaltering dedication are a testament to his skill and friendliness. This is an individual worthy of recognition for his hard work and commitment.

Congratulations, Marick.

OT Wuntila.

Wally, ever since I came to Qel-Droma you’ve been an amazing friend and colleague. You’ve been one of the best battleteam leaders I’ve had during my time as Quaestor. I can’t remember to have ever thanked you properly for your work on the Reboot Reform, without you it wouldn’t be what it is now.

I’m very pleased to have the ability to add my own little part to this recc. You’ve been here for the Clan, and now House through both hard and easier times. It’s always been and always will be a pleasure to work with you, I’m looking forward to your next elevation.

You’ve deserved it mate, congrats,
