Primary reason

This recommendation is for Warlord Macron Goura Sadow, for promotion to Dark Side Adept. To dispense with the list of deeds, he has earned a very large list of awards, several pages deep in listing (5 and a half) since his promotion in 2005 to EQ4.

So, in seven years, has Macron Sadow done work? Yeah, it’s a pretty safe assumption. Multiple sacramental awards, several crosses of EVERY variety, and a whole bagful of scrolls, plus crescents, novae, and seals.

But he’s also been at the helm of Naga Sadow more than a few times, putting in the hours to make his home better, raising the equity as it were (pardon the pun). Not content with just handling the affairs of CNS, however, Macron recently put his hand in working in the Horizons Vendetta. I asked the Grand Master what Macron’s involvement entailed, and I was told he wrote most of the storyline, researched a considerable amount of things, and was neck deep in grading. This is no small feat for members of the Dark Council (So I'm led to believe), and this was what one man did. Most impressive.

Also, and this may actually be less helpful, but Macron was also responsible for me. A couple of years ago, when I first joined the Dark Jedi Brotherhood, Macron volunteered to be my master, and spent a goodly time helping me out, showing me the ropes, and getting me to realize my potential. I’m not the only person he’s trained, actually, I’m in a rather big, rather crowded club, all things considered.

That, more than anything else, is why I write this recommendation for Macron to be promoted to Dark Side Adept. So many students, so much of his time was spent getting people to get involved and to realize their capabilities. If that’s not dedicated service in the interest of the future of this club, I’m not sure what it. ~ Mirado Pepoi L’eonheart

Sith Warlord Macron Sadow has helped define in many ways the past, present, and future of Clan Naga Sadow. For these efforts and hard work he moved up through the ranks of the Brotherhood and earned way more merits too list. However, to gain the rank of an Elder you must prove yourself not only worthy to your Clan, but the Brotherhood as a whole. I believe Macron has worked far more than others to achieve this. His willingness to allows help with various projects and events is well known. From his work in the ACC to the Shadow Academy, Mac has improved various aspects of daily life in the DB. Most recently his hard work on the latest GJW truly showed once again his dedication to the entire Brotherhood. While I am not sure of the specifics of what his tasks entailed, from an onlooker during the event I could definitely see that Mac was behind the scenes. For his dedication, effort, and hard work; I would like to recommend Macron Sadow for the promotion to Dark Side Adept. - Robert Sadow, Consul Emeritus

Mac in the last 4 years since I joined, I've written many recc's for you to get various awards. But this one is by far the most important one. Two years ago, you started on a journey to create what is now known as Horizons. I was luckily to find out at the time you were working on it, and then subsequently became the sole person to write the fiction after the rest of the team went AWOL. 2 years, and a term as Consul to Naga Sadow while working on this huge project, is a lot of work and time. With it finally being over the rest of the Brotherhood is able to see the effort you put into the Vendetta and the level of commitment you have to making the club better. You produced a great vendetta for the club, and served Naga Sadow, and the club as a whole with a level of dedication that many should strive to. I hereby wish to add my name to promoting Macron to Dark Side Adept. Congrats on your promotion buddy! ~ OPM Fremoc Pepoi, Fist of the Brotherhood, Son of Sadow

Macron Goura Sadow, the Mad Alchemist of Clan Naga Sadow, is a member that I have had the pleasure to often work closely with throughout my Dark Brotherhood career. Serving first as my Consul, and later as an advisor, Macron has helped me learn the ropes of the club and always been there if I needed help or advice. He showed me the value of being an active leader and was one of the first members to show me that the entire Brotherhood is important, rather than simply our own Clan.

Perhaps Macron’s most well-known contribution to the Brotherhood was his writing for Horizons. While I was not privy to the specifics, I do know that Macron wrote a lot for it, and poured a lot of his own time and effort into it. These efforts were a demonstration of a paradigm Macron had long preached and practiced. As Consul, Macron consistently pushed for more Brotherhood- wide competitions and events, driving the Summit to think about what we could do for everyone, rather than just the Clan. This led to a number of competitions run by CNS members, including activities such as the DB-wide trivia Macron ran himself. He was always looking at CNS events or projects and asking the question “how could this benefit everyone, rather than just us?” This inspired me to think of the organization outside the Clan myself, and this was a major factor that led to me thinking about building relationships with other units, rather than just looking inward at CNS all the time.

Of course, this is not Macron’s only claim to fame. He has appeared in leadership roles many times, and earned the accolades to prove it. I will focus on the most recent times because those are the ones I know, however they are only the tip of the iceberg.

When I first worked with Macron, he was Consul and I was Proconsul. As Consul, Macron consistently made sure that all of his members were awarded properly. He audited the entire membership, and ensured that everyone was properly recognized for their actions. Macron also redefined and solidified the Summit’s position, ensuring everyone’s roles were clear and that we knew what we were supposed to be doing to serve the Clan. Throughout all this, Macron often participated in competitions himself, leading the Clan from the front and sharing his accomplishments with them. For example, during this time he earned Diamond and Emerald crescents, and a number of Clusters of Ice. This leadership style was a great example for me, and directly influenced my own. I strongly believe in participating as much as I can alongside other members and making sure they have something to do and are recognized for it. These are all things I learned through my time working with Macron.

After Macron stepped down from Consul and I took over, he didn’t fade into the darkness and go inactive. Instead, Macron continued to serve as an advisor. Many old leaders may disappear, but Macron never did, and for that I am grateful. He continued to always be available if I needed help. In a way Macron was the speaker for the Sons of Sadow; frequently serving as a connection between them and the Summit, which was very helpful because we were almost from two different generations, and he helped bridge that gap. Macron has also been one of the most active members at Conclave, and I appreciate that as well.

As a regular member, Macron continues to participate wherever he can. He has earned numerous Crescents and other awards in recent months. He also continues to be a major presence on the mailing list and in other modes of communication, encouraging everyone else and offering his assistance when he can. This is exemplified in that he still takes on and mentors journeymen to this day.

I could go on and list Macron’s numerous other awards and positions held, such as his three times as Consul of Clan Naga Sadow, or the Amethyst Kikuri, Sapphire Blade, two Grand Crosses, Steel Cross, two Anteian Crosses, nine Dark Crosses, and numerous Seals he has earned in the time since his last promotion, but I think the above actions and awards speak for themselves. Macron has put so much into the Brotherhood, and I know that he will continue to do so for years to come.

Congratulations on your promotion to Dark Side Adept, Macron! You’ve more than earned it! - Locke Sonjie, Consul of Clan Naga Sadow

We stand today looking out at a new horizon.

As the wheel of time turns, there are few things you can take for granted, not even whether the Creator is Man or Mouse. There is one thing, however, that one can be sure of: and that is the dedication of a little apprentice who first strode into the Dark Brotherhood nearly eight years ago. From that day he joined, Macron Sadow né Goura has striven not to succeed for himself, but has succeeded by virtue of the sacrifices he has made for everyone else, so that others may see the club - and thus enjoy it - like he always has.

It was two years ago when the initial kernel of an idea that was to grow into the Horizons vendetta was first kindled in the flames upon the crucible in which it was to be nurtured. Macron may not have been alone back then, at the time working with Trevarus Caerick and Bloodfyre, but when real life chipped away at each of the three, in the end it was Macron who stood firm and carried on the fight to bring us all the spectacular storyline that everyone in the Dark Brotherhood has recently been able to enjoy. This was not without sacrifice, and I know how hard the past two years have at times been for Macron, with him repeatedly having had to put the rest of the club before his own first interests. Designing a vendetta is never an easy task, and indeed one can count on one's fingers how many have made that same sacrifice in the past to bring a story that has contained the same degrees of depth and expanse.

When I look back, I feel proud now to know that the little apprentice who once walked into my Clan so very long ago can now count himself among such equally memorable faces as Raken, Trevarus, or if one really turns back the clock, people like Mairin back in the days of the Emperor's Hammer. There are so few who have given that volume of their free time, of their energy, and of their heart -- because all good writing is in the end built of a piece of one's heart -- back into the club that they once enjoyed for the very same sacrifices that others had made when they were once the Journeymen enjoying others' writing. But Macron can now count himself amongst this number, and it is for that reason that I can think of few others who have bled as much for other people. It is for this reason, along with all those countless others for which there is not the scope to document exhaustively in this recommendation, that I extend my thanks to Macron for all that he has -- and I am without doubt shall continue -- to offer the Dark Brotherhood in the days to come.

Congratulations, Macron. You've more than earned all of our thanks. ~ Darth Vexatus, Sith Lord

Dear Macron,

whenever I wonder what members in the Dark Jedi Brotherhood should strive to be like - I only have to point at you and your hard work. Whether it is competitions, tutoring members, or runons... your name seems to be everywhere. Over the past years you have been mentoring students - you participated in so many competitions, you had been my Consul and you worked hard to make Horizons not only be at the horizon of our sight.. but also let us reach it and go beyond.

Thank you for your hard work on the storyline of this vendetta. For all your participation in competitions. For your awesome stories. For counselling in hard times. And probably lots of more things I don't even know about. You are a good deal of the DJB's heartbeats that keeps all this alive.

Congratulations Elder Macron. You deserved this. - Xia Long, Seneschal Emeritus

When I first joined the DB, I had the pleasure of writing in the Lounge on the forums, and it was there that I first met Macron. He, along with a few others, had no hesitation on including me in whatever conversation he was having in character. It was that feeling of being accepted and a little respected in what i was writing that kept me coming back. I showed an interest in his alchemy things, and i think it was then that Macron offered me to be his apprentice, to which i readily accepted. He helped promote me from Novice to Protector, and never really gave up on me. I took a small leave of absence at first, then a 5 year leave without any warning. And after all of that time, when i contacted him recently, he welcomed me back with open arms. You can't buy that kind of class. Along with being a wonderful teacher, mentor, and part time slave driver (kidding!), he has been a constant inspiration in my DB career. I'm proud to be his apprentice. After seeing all of the fantastic work that he has done during my "sabbatical", I fully recommend that he be promoted. Congrats, Mac! ~Noktar Jameki

When I think of an Elder, I think of someone who has diligently worked their way through the ranks, leaving other members better for having knowing them, and whose love for and influence within the Club is more than evident. Macaroni been a consistent presence in my six year career here, and that's not something that should be laughed at.

Mac was always a participation powerhouse. Always helpful to members across the strata, and unafraid to set a ridiculously high standard for competition and character development. The excellence he displayed while thoroughly enjoying himself was a prime example of how to get the most out of the DB. I and my contemporaries would not be the members that we are today without him. The list of his Apprentices is admirable, as is his nearly innumerable (which I'm sure others on this recommendation list will be more than happy to count) awards listing.

More impressive is his clear influence in the current incarnation of the Lightsaber Guide; the Club can also thank his tireless work in imagining the depths of Sith Alchemy for our contemporary views on it as we weave it into an integral part of our corner of the SW Universe. One need only look at the past Vendetta for proof of that.

Admittedly, not being an Elder myself limits my ability to write what I feel would do Macron justice regarding an elevation to the same. After all, a man's opinion is only as valid as his knowledge on the subject. Still, I know the difference between wanting a part...and acting the part. Mac, you've been a Madman in more ways than one for the short time I've known you; here's to you and the hard work you put in to make it this far. Congratulations! ~ Tsainetomo Keibatsu, Consul Emeritus

Macron is an amazing writer, and has proven himself to be worthy of the legends that we weave in the Dark Brotherhood. His writing work on the most recent Vendetta, Horizons, has been excellent. I had the privilege of doing some of the initial brainstorming with him on this task, and I can say, he had some impressive ideas and ran with them. The input he received from others helped to inspire his imagination, and helped to push his capacity for great writing above and beyond all expectation. Macron may or may not be a name that everyone has seared into their minds when it comes to writing within the Brotherhood, but this Vendetta has proven that his naught ought to be forever imprinted as one of those who has personally helped shape the legends, and the creative genius of this Club. I was inspired by his ideas, and impressed with his dedication and tenacity throughout the entirety of the project. I can honestly say, I wish I had his stamina and energy, because his ability to create is not only a prize for himself and his peers in Naga Sadow, but are a jewel of inspiration for those of us in the Brotherhood who still try and keep up with the activities of others by passing on stories of our own. Macron has grown in my eyes from a young Sith Apprentice that I remember well, to a standard of excellence, and a source of strength, leadership and creation for all Sith to follow, and for the best future possible for all members of the Brotherhood.

Macron, you have proven yourself beyond value, and with but merely a few peers in writing. I enjoyed reading your work, and feel honored to have been made that much better by your insight, inspiration, and your creative mind. Truly a job well done, Dark Side Adept. You are more than worthy of that title, and of a place among the peerage of Elders. Congratulations a thousand times over! ~Sith Bloodfyre-Tarentae, Sith High Warrior Emeritus

To be an elder in this club is a nebulous thing. There is no marked path, there is no task list. There is only the way that you make for yourself. So many never ascend, falling to hubris, to ego, to laziness. So few are swift enough to seek their own path, to use their skills in such a way that they can be declared one of the elders of our club. Always seeking out ways to improve the club, Macron has been in constant contact with me for the the past few years, working with me to try to let his experience and skills set in mays that the club benefits. He uses his experience to train countless apprentices in the brotherhood, sharing his knowledge of how the club works exponentially more than most members do. I can't recall a time where Mac didn't have an apprentice or three. His background in geology weighed heavily on the crystals section of lightsaber guides. His training in traditional Chinese Martial Arts translated nicely as a contributor to the Hand to Hand combat guide. His skill as a chemist and his interests in the Sith lore made him the obvious choice for creating most - if not all - the Alchemy material that the club uses, Shadow Academy Courses, Wiki articles and the old Dark Voice articles. The most recent coup for him was his work on Horizons. While Macron has served on Clan summits before...i think he was Consul of CNS three times now... and has been in limited Dark Summit positions, he had not yet had the experience of working on a Brotherhood wide Vendetta. Some would be intimidated by the prospect. Not Macron. He dove in with both feet. He worked very closely with me and a small team of other elders (of which, the other elders all faded from the project). to set up the storyline, the events, the background details and information. He wrote almost all of the accompanying fiction on his own steam, dealing with my continuous meddling without any heartburn. I can't overstate the amount of work that writing a vendetta entails. After the fact, he dove in and worked his tail off on grading events, helping us get one of the best grading turnarounds for a vendetta in history. Even now, he refuses to take a break, working with me on future releases, more work that flows from his hands in order to help enhance this club.

Macron is an elder. It's time we made it official.

Rise above Sith, rise above Krath, rise above Obelisk. Stand before the Tripartite Path, and see where it ends. Stand before the Force. Stand and be counted among the elders, Dark Side Adept.

Congratulations, Macron Sadow.
