Primary reason

The Ruby Scepter is beautiful ornate award awarded to members of the Dark Brotherhood who have demonstrated extreme dedication to the Club. Less than 1% of all Dark Jedi Brotherhood members have earned the Ruby Scepter due to the contributions required to earn it. In this case, I am confident in saying that Warlord Rajhin (known as Turel moving forward) has earned it. Turel has not been promoted in over a year and has not been awarded a Sacramental Award or Merit Award in over two years. Throughout the time since his last promotion he has served the Dark Brotherhood honorably as a Consul (two months), Left Hand of Justice (5 months), Quaestor (2 months), ACC Judge (15 months), and Left Hand of Justice (3 months). Beyond serving in these positions as a mentor in leader in our Club, Turel found time to earn 4 Nova, 63 Crescents, over 8000 clusters (not a typo), 31 Seals associated with Vendettas, and 3 x Seals of Foundation for 18 months of duty to the Shadow Academy. That activity was achieved through participation in seven run-ons, six ACC battles, 41 PvP matches, 566 PvE activities, and a total participation in 129 competitions. Outside of his competition participation, Turel found time to run 9 competitions and judge another 22 ACC matches.

Beyond Turel's individual merits as a member, he has worked tirelessly to improve our club as a whole. His activity as a member of the Court of Justice, as a judge in the ACC, and as Consul in Odan-Urr will be detailed below my recommendation by those who know his work best. I will focus on his work in ensuring the creation of Clan Vizsla; the DJB's first new Clan in over nine years.

Becoming a member of Clan Vizsla was a difficult choice for many members, but none more so than Turel. Turel is a legend within the Odan Urr community. He led them to a Vendetta victory as a Consul, he earned the Clan name, and he knew that leaving the Clan could cost him (personally and a Clan name). Despite this, Turel had the courage to see the opportunity in creating something new in the Dark Brotherhood.

Upon his arrival in Vizsla, Turel immediately began to provide insight and shape policies that would lead to Vizsla's approval. He was an editor and contributor to our proposal document (17 pages: https://docs.google.com/document/d/14tlay0gW4gxVDMvXuUc83LF2nyZJ4UARMuo7FBWJuX0/edit?usp=sharing) and our new home planet (https://wiki.darkjedibrotherhood.com/view/Zsoldos). His work on both of those projects was integral to the creation of our first new Clan in nearly a decade.

Sacramental Awards and Elder promotions require a member to go beyond their Clan. I'm confident in saying Turel has gone beyond any Clan in his activity and approach to the Dark Brotherhood. He has led one Clan to a Vendetta victory as a Consul, he has contributed greatly to the creation of a second Clan, he has served as both the protector of the DJB's CoJ interests as well as our members, and he has served as a Judge in the ACC. He has also served as both a voice of reason and a dissenting voice on many DJB policies and decisions (a role that gets people on the Temporary Star Chamber).

Turel, congrats on your award. I'm always honored to be the one recommending it :p

Additional reasons

Turel brought to the Chamber of Justice a unique perspective, having unfortunately been through the CoJ process himself several years ago. To me, that was a perspective I wanted in the office of Left Hand of Justice. He was in a position that required empathy, and he was able to deliver.

The first half of 2017 saw a flurry of activity in the Chamber of Justice, which was buttressed by a slow end to the year. But that first part was hard. We had a cloning/cheating case that had some complexity to it, but more engulfing was the case that led to the expulsion of Xanos. The CoJ had not expelled anyone since its very early days, and it had not been done since the adoption of the new Covenant. And the sensitivity of the mater required a great deal of work.

During the course of those cases, I was impressed by the quality of work presented by Turel and the obvious thought that he put into all he did. He did not waver in taking positions that might be contrary to popular opinion, my opinion, or what might be right for the Brotherhood's policies. Rather, he did what was right by the defendant member, taking that Devil's advocate approach that is necessary. He ensured, for example, that Xanos was informed of everything involved in the CoJ process, and he kept me on my toes in making my decisions.

Turel was also instrumental in evaluating several LoR removal requests. Those require a good deal of time, and Turel was tasked with taking the side of the person seeking removal to argue their points. His advice helped me make the right decisions.

In addition to the above, Turel also represented the CoJ in the manner than I would expect him to. I found him to be upstanding and professional. He presented himself with care, and I never received any word that he was not holding himself to the high standard I set.

All-in-all, Turel likely spent at lease 20-25 hours in service of the CoJ, if not more. He was an excellent LHoJ and will be missed on my staff.

Jac Cotelin, 2019-06-10 15:24:31 UTC

This is a difficult recommendation for me to write, not because I have trouble finding things to say, but because there’s so much to distill into a few short paragraphs.

With regards to his service to the ACC, I have to admit that my own decision to step down as a judge was made much easier by the knowledge that Turel would be coming back on staff to serve in the unofficial senior judge role. His experience with the system, both as a competitor and a judge, was unrivaled. Since returning to staff, he has served as lead judge on an additional 22 matches, each a time commitment of roughly two hours. Additionally, he has graded 6 ACC Qualification exams, authored a venue for the relaunch of the Scenario Hall, and lent his keen eye and sharp mind to countless staff discussions. During the novel Coach’s Corner event last year, Turel led Team Red Panda and helped Mune Cinteroph start down the path to becoming a judge himself. Throughout all of this, Turel has also served as one of the ACC’s main evangelists and public advocates, a position he naturally occupies as one of the most prolific and successful competitors since the center’s rebirth.

In additional to his ACC service, Turel deserves recognition for his lasting contributions to Odan-Urr. Although most of his tenure on our summit has been documented in previous awards, the record leaves out his crowning achievement. Shortly after his elevation to EQ4, he led us to our first-ever victory in a club-wide vendetta. Independent House Odan-Urr struggled for years to gain traction, and even relative late-comers like me have been told to our faces that we don’t belong in this club, so it’s difficult to overestimate what becoming First Clan meant to all of us.

More than anyone else, Turel is the man responsible for building the leadership culture that won GJW XII and RoS: Meridian. An although it was the product of years of work, the level of energy and commitment he brought to his consulship was obvious right up to his very last day. During the War, he led from the front, completing every bin and earning himself 2 Novae; at the same time, he was constantly working to maintain a positive vibe in the COU war room and keep members on task and energetic. He worked with Edgar to create The Odanite Code, a statement of our clan’s values aimed at preserving our fun, member-driven attitude and avoiding the pitfalls of other established and highly successful units in the club’s past. During the first weekend of GJW XII, he and I scrambled to write a 12-page fiction update intended to show that the unexpected emergence of the Collective had a direct and significant impact on Odanites and their characters.

It’s safe to say I learned most, if not all, of what I know about unit leadership from watching Turel. Much of that is summed up in his final CON report, however he continued to be a valuable source of counsel and one of my most reliable members during my time as consul. He assisted in the early planning of the Consul Bride co-op event with Arcona, took a crescent for third place overall finish in the Tipping Point clan event, and earned full participation and a 20th place finish (our of 157) in the Rite of Supremacy. Although his passion at times gets the better of him, which I will admit made me want to Force choke him on multiple occasions, his unwavering commitment to the DB’s members is something that I will always respect. While I’m very sad to see him go, I know that Turel is at his best when faced with a challenge, and Vizsla could not ask for a better member to help lay the groundwork of a brand new clan.

Moff Alethia Archenksova, 2019-06-10 15:25:29 UTC

Since joining the Chamber of Justice as Left Hand in February, Turel has made himself an indispensable part of the team. The Chamber works best when the Justicar and the Hands can discuss sensitive matters frankly and with shared commitment to protect the rights and interests of the club and its members. Turel understands and facilitates exactly that atmosphere. He has brought experience, competence, and good instincts in equal measure. Although none of the Chamber's work thus far in his tenure has been made public, Turel has provided timely, critical advice to me and to his fellow members who have had reason to seek his counsel.

Primary reason

Since her last recognition, Atty (Satsi) has spent the last year in continued service as Praetor to the Voice. During this time period, she has approved 146 Character sheets on her own, while answering questions and overseeing two magistrates that account for 369 character sheets. These metrics do not, of course, track on the fiction competitions she reviews and then approves or remands, or the character sheets she similarly reviews and remands, She provides guidance on these remands, maintains that the language they are using is in line with the Voice’s standards for member experience, and has consistent positive feedback for the time she takes to work with members on their custom aspects. She helps combat the stigma that a “remand” is a bad thing, and allows me, as Voice, not to worry that the Character Sheet guidelines aren’t being maintained. This frees me up to tackle projects and higher level oversight of the Fiction Society. Put simply, I trust Atty to run my office in the exact same way that I do, ensuring maximum continuity and coverage in the event that I have to take time off.

Atty has also taken to tracking DB-wide fiction competitions that are run and records the time length they ran, how many members subscribed, and how many actually entered submissions. This helps create a data model that can help us make informed decisions about what kind of competitions work better than others. She also worked with the Regent team to contribute to the Creatures project for Possessions.

Atty is also my long trusted proofreader. She proof reads every report, newspost, and fiction update that I create or produce. She offers a second set of eyes and lets me bounce my ideas off of her, and isn’t afraid to challenge my stance or try and show me a disparate opinion that aligns with that of a non-DCer. This helps me be a better Councilor, and I can’t really quantify how much she helps me operate as long as I have as Voice.

Outside her role as Praetor, Atty has not only been one of the most active engaged members of the Fiction Society, but one of the most consistently active members of the club. To wit, her sustained activity has had her complete 15 ACC matches, produced 79,615 words of fiction through 31 fiction competition entries, an additional 6,000 words of Run-On posts for a total of 231 Clusters of Ice. Beyond that, she has participated in 26 Graphic Competitions with 81 Cluster’s of Graphite and 23 regular Competitions with 60 total crescents. As a competitor, she took home 19 Seals of Fury for RoS: Meridian while also nabbing 3 Bronze Novae.

In short, Atty is not only a hard working leader and contributor to club as P: Voice, she is also one of its most active members day-to-day. Her ability to engage with literally anyone, and willingness to help them understand our character sheets or the system, supersedes her own wants or opinions because she knows that true progression in this club from staying tough in the fire and doing the work. So, here's something I don't think you've gotten yet: a red staff of booping, or better yet, a Ruby Sceptre for your emotional-terrorist throne. Thank you, Aberton III Esquire, for all you do.

Additional reasons

It can be hard to quantify all a person does for their Clan, and with Atty/Satsi/Pancake it can be even more difficult. She is invested in every facet of Arcona, takes an interest in the older members who are too stubborn to disappear and every new join who graces us with their presence. While since her last recognition she's successfully mentored Eilen to the rank of Knighthood, this only one of many Journeyman she's helped on the path. Atty is a huge part of drawing new folks in and getting them settled in Arcona, in building community and a sense of belonging. Not only that, even without an official position in the Clan she's not let up on encouraging activity in others. During the Rite of Supremacy she was a whirlwind of encouragement, offering her services as a proofer or sounding board for ideas. She digs in and doesn't give up as time limits draw near, she pushes and pushes and finishes what she sets her mind to, and she sets an incredibly example for the members of our Clan in doing so. In my six years with Arcona, I can say she's one of the very few Arconae to embody what it means to care and work for the Clan, and I am so proud to be able to even assist in recognizing her badassery. Congratulations, Atty!

Over the past year, Alaris has done an exceptional job as my Magistrate. As M:Fist, Alaris took on the monumental task of organizing and running the first ever Brotherhood Gaming League event, organized gaming competitions and tests, served as a Docent for the Gaming and Combat courses, and processed hundreds of gaming submissions.

Late in 2017, I announced in a report that I was looking for a Magistrate to assist me in helming a brotherhood wide Gaming League, focused on finding the best of the best in our four most popular platforms: Jedi Academy, Heroes of the Storm, Hearthstone, and Overwatch. Alaris' application stood out above all others, and so I immediately hired him and tasked him with serving as a sort of "Commissioner" for the event. Alaris took complete ownership of the task and organized a year long event. This monumental undertaking involved eight distinct competitions, each with a different seeding/scoring method, culminating in four "Tournament of Champions" events for each of the featured games. On top of manually managing this entire system, Alaris took things one step further. Earlier this year, the club lost one if its most prolific gamers. Alaris was the first to suggest honoring Frosty Romanae Tarentae by naming the tournament, titles, and trophies in his honor. This level of care and compassion for Frosty's memory speaks to Alaris not only as a staff member and as a leader, but as a person as well.

On top of his BGL duties, Alaris organized monthly competitions for the Fist Monthly Gaming challenges, and organized a support test for Fortnite. While this test did not yield to Fortnite being added to the DJB library, Alaris' efforts cannot be ignored. He prepared a full support proposal including rules, cluster values, and ways to make the game fit in our library. Should the game ever see a rise in popularity in the club, Alaris has ensured that all the necessary staff work is done to ensure a smooth addition of the game into the supported library.

My Magistrates are responsible for managing a minimum of two Shadow Academy courses in the Gaming and Combat Hall. While this is outside of the normal responsibilities for a Fist Magistrate, Alaris took this responsibility just as seriously as his normal Magistrate duties. As the Docent for the Armor, Land Vehicles, and Ranged Weaponry courses, Alaris took the time to review each course to ensure it was in line with current DB canon, updated/re-wrote sections as necessary, and ensured that courses were graded fairly and within the 24 hour standard set by the Headmaster.

Finally, Alaris is hands down one of the most meticulous magistrates I have ever had on my staff. He goes through every single submission with a fine toothed comb, ensuring that every member who should be on a submission is there, and every member who is not is removed. Nobody is better at spotting errors or discrepancies in gaming submissions than he is, period. Over the past year, Alaris has approved 302 PvE/PvO submissions and 131 PvP activities.

I could not have asked for a better person to serve as M:Fist and as my BGL "Commissioner". Alaris is one of the club's best, and this award is only a small token of my appreciation for his efforts.

Congratulations Alaris, and thank you.

Additional reasons

Alaris has a long history of service in the Chamber of Justice, with more time under his belt as a Hand or on the Appeals Panel than any other member. Most recently, he completed a successful, if somewhat slow, term on the Appeals Panel before I selected him to serve as my first Left Hand of Justice.

I chose Alaris for the job because of his reliability, his temperament, and his experience, both in the Chamber and the club as a whole. It was the right choice. Alaris has helped me navigate my first few months as Justicar by offering timely, thoughtful advice and input, and by carrying out his duties -- namely, counseling and advocating for those charged or to-be-charged by the Chamber -- with expertise and diligence.

It has, thankfully, been a relatively quiet year for the Chamber, with only one investigation resulting in a published conviction. However, the lack of news from the Chamber belies the activity occurring behind the scenes. As Left Hand, he is always on call and has always been available. For the sole case of the year, Alaris spent hours consulting with me and the Right Hand, as well as counseling the defendant on his rights and the helping him to weigh the relative merits of pleading guilty or not guilty.

In other matters, Alaris has reviewed evidence for potential charges and provided cogent analysis and advice on how the Chamber should proceed. Throughout, he has never lost sight of his primary duty: protecting the rights of the members.

His assistance has been invaluable to the Chamber, and I am very pleased to be able to recommend him for this Ruby Scepter.

Lord Dacien Victae, 2018-12-20 20:48:18 UTC

Alaris is an incredible member who has always given his best serving the Clan as Proconsul under my predecessor as well as myself for well over a year. During that time he diligently fulfilled his duties, contributing ideas and insights whenever needed and serving as an exemplary member of the Clan by being active both as participant and organizer of competitions for the Clan and Brotherhood.

Since he resigned, Alaris focused on serving the Brotherhood on a larger scale such as Left Hand of Justice, Shadow Academy Professor and Magistrate to the Fist where he continued to work as an outstanding staff member running a multitude of competitions for the Brotherhoods gaming community.

Most recently Alaris has brought himself to attention for becoming Second Hero of the Rite of Supremacy: Meridian, for not only participating in twenty-one out of twenty-nine competitions but also for scoring the second most points for a single member in the event and scoring the highest individual score for a member of Taldryan.

Alaris, you are one of the most dedicated members the Brotherhood has today and it surely wouldn't be the same place without your work. For this reason I am proud to have you as part of Taldryan and would like to thank you for all you have done with this Ruby Scepter. Congratulations, this one is well deserved.

Alethia Archenksova - Arch for short - has been an exemplary leader, working closely with the Dark Council and the rest of the Consuls to bring the best experience to our members. As Consul of our largest unit and our unit most focused on the light side, Arch has a unique set of challenges to face in representing both his members desires to the Dark Council, and in helping his clan develop in ways that best fits the Brotherhood's future fictional direction. Arch frequently must work to diffuse conflict across multiple levels and to ensure that members and leaders know that they are being heard and that their feedback is being used in a productive way, something he excels at. Arch goes above and beyond a typical leader of our club, as evidenced by a recent breakdown he did for the GM and DGM of long-term trends in general member activity, particularly as it relates to COU. Moreover, Arch deserves credit for his unit's strong activity, as evidenced by more than 1200 competition entries in the first two quarters of the year alone, along with the highest proportion of active members in the club, despite frequently having the largest roster size. Arch is a frequent and thoughtful contributor to discussions amongst Consuls and the Dark Council, providing measured and useful feedback at his every opportunity. Beyond his work as Consul, Arch has served on the Appeals Panel, as a Judge in the ACC, and as a proofing asset for Atra on ACC assets, as described below..

Additionally, Arch has organized or co-organized 36 competitions and participated in a total of 84 competitions. His gaming activities account for 14 PvE and PvP activities. He has graded 2 exams in the Shadow Academy, passed 4 courses and posted 11 News posts on the website. Arch’s fiction activity includes a total of 11990 words written, 9 non-ACC activities, 1 ACC match and judged 2 ACC battles, and written/edited numerous fictional clan updates. Among the myriad awards he has earned, a Silver Nova, 8 Scrolls of Foundation and 15 Seals of Wrath.

Arch is one of our most valuable leaders and we are glad to work with him daily to make the Brotherhood a better place. Congratulations on the Ruby Scepter, Arch!

Served on the Chamber of Justice Appeals panel for the 2017 term (which ran until Feb 26, 2018). This term on the appeals panel was largely uneventful, only requiring one assembly for the purpose of reviewing an Order of Advanced Incarceration. However, the appeals panelists all remained on-call and were a pleasure to work with on staff.

The Praetor to the Grand Master is a difficult job. No one knows what you do, your boss takes credit for everything, and most people assume you are a yes man. Monty suffers those perceptions while quietly going about his business as a calming influence in our club (watch him work a channel) and by delivering invaluable support to countless DJb level projects.

Specicially since his last activity was awarded: he has 9 months of RHOJ to include a completed JST continuity book, 1 year of P:GM, 750 reports reviewed and a subsequent 100+ crescents awarded, 2 POBs, 2 seals of loyalty, 2 Seals of Wrath, 10 clusters of fire, 3 comps participated, vendetta fiction entry review, and a countless deliberations on Djb actions ranging from the closing of a Clan to proving input on DC level awards.

Monty thanks for your hard work. Congrats(?) on remaining as Mav’s Praetor!

Primary reason

Bentre has served as my Proconsul for the past 10 months. While doing so, he has served Naga Sadow well and more than earned this reward. Added to his time as Proconsul, Bentre has served as Rollmaster for 3 months, Professor for 24 days, Magistrate for 10 months and Wiki Staff member for over a year.

During all this time, Bentre has not been rewarded for his work. I've been sadly remiss in realising just how much work Bentre does. He's been punished by my negligence, which isn't fair for him. Instead of complaining about a lack of recognition, Bentre has shown his patience and wisdom, chosing to continue to serve excellently in all areas.

I'm going to go into a bit more detail about his work as Rollmaster and Proconsul to Naga Sadow, while others will give information on his work in the Shadow Academy and the Wiki staff.

While serving as my second in command in Naga Sadow, Bentre has learned on the front lines what it means to be a leader in the Brotherhood. He has led from the front on every occasion and in every event. He has encouraged others to participate, to own their storyline, to develop their characters and has also taken the time to be competitive and win most competitions that he enters.

Bentre is a paragon of a member within Naga Sadow and I'm glad that he's on my side, serving alongside me. He has been able to grow adroitly, managing issues, dealing with complicated arguments between members and being an excellent mediator. He has also given his opinions and input on the Clan storylines and helped me create the storyline for 2018. He has also been a fully active member during all of this.

Since his last recognition, Bentre has participated in 227 competitions. That's right, 227. Mav & Howie, you need to shout at me right now for not rewarding this guy. Hell, I should probably get fired for neglecting this bastion of awesomeness. Of those 227 competitions, Bentre has placed in 60 of them, earning 60 Crescents of varying levels, including 11 Diamonds and 7 Rubies, which are hard to earn. Added to that, Bentre has run 24 competitions, including helping me run a Clan event that saw 18 unique participants in his Sands of Time event, who put in 51 entries. His other competitions have had 81 entries across 18 competitions.

That's not all he's done. Bentre has also earned 329 Clusters of Fire, participating in 77 PVP matches, 345 Clusters of Earth, participating in 53 PVE activities and 96 Clusters of Ice from 43 fiction related activities, not to mention the 4 ACC matches he's finished.

Bentre has also earned 90 Clusters of Graphite, 2 Pendants of Blood, 2 Legions of Scholar, 24 Scrolls of Foundation for his work in the Shadow Academy and 1 Seal of Loyalty, for his dedication to the Club and Clan.

Bentre also competed in 27 out of 28 competitions in the recent GJW, competing in all possible events open to him, as he was unable to represent CNS in the Phase II ACC matches. Bentre was one of our few members to participate in all events and he came in second place in points earned for Naga Sadow. We owe much of our success in the last GJW to Bentre and it's great to reward him for his hard work.

But wait, there's more. Bentre has also completed 15 courses, earning 5 degrees and marked 94 courses for the Shadow Academy, not to mention all of the project work he has done for Farrin.

Bentre has also earned 2 Dark Side Scrolls for his work on the Wiki, where he is one of the longest running staff members assisting Slagar. Bentre is always available to help members complete or work on their Wiki pages, regardless of what Clan they're from.

Finally, Bentre has written over 30,000 words of fiction, for a mix of competitions and Clan canon fiction and has posted several reports in his remit as Proconsul.

I've served as Consul of Naga Sadow for a year now and I'm thankful that I've had Bentre there alongside me every step of the way. He truly is a good friend, a valuable ally and a great asset to this Clan and to me. I've made many mistakes during my time as Consul, but Bentre has been there to pick me up, to help me gain my step and refocus me. He has learned from me also and despite not being the most confident person in his abilities, is more than ready to replace me as Consul and serve the members of Naga Sadow.

His opinions are valuable, his efforts are divine and his hard work, dedication and drive has seen him reach Equite 3, Proconsul and stands on the precipice as one of the best members Naga Sadow has seen in many years. I would be lost without him and my lack of rewarding Bentre has made me feel like a failure. I'm sorry for this, Bentre.

I am thankful for every day that you've given me, our Clan and this club. Please continue to be the best that you can be and congratulations on your reward.

Additional reasons

Since his last promotion in January of 2017, Bentre Kairn'tel Stahoes has proven himself again and again to be the most irreplaceable member of my staff on the DJB Wiki. He has been a tireless staffer on both larger project work as well as the oft overlooked article patrolling. The latter task, thankless and often invisible, is what makes sure the Wiki doesn't descend into a mass of confusing, twisted, un-categorized chaos as more and more edits introduce ever increasing amounts of entropy into the system. At least one or more times a week Ben makes his rounds through all the newly made edits, adjusting pages and making minor fixes wherever he finds the need. Additionally, as one of my longest tenured and most experienced staffers, Ben has taken a front seat in training new staff members that have come on board during his tenure, specifically Tasha'Vel Versea who came to the staff with little direct experience but plenty of eagerness to learn. Ben has allowed the rest of the staff to benefit from his experience at all times.

On the project front, Bentre served as the sole or lead member on various tasks. The audit of all ship articles on the wiki, both personal and Clan-owned, cleaning up the past military possessions of all Clans under the pre-possessions system, the arduous task of adding wiki linking the new DJB Covenant, and an audit/clean up of the massive "Under Construction" category to remove pages that were no longer under active editing and were instead outdated and merely incomplete are some of the major, higher profile projects he spearheaded.

Between his project tasks, patrolling edits, and clan work he has made 742 individual edits on the wiki from article clean ups to adding a missing category. He is one of the most dedicated wiki staffers I have seen in my tenure as Tribune, or even in the years I previously spent as a staffer myself. It is my deep honor to add my recommendation to those of his Clan mates for this award. It is most well deserved, and it comes with my grateful thanks for a job well done.

Master Selika Roh di Plagia, 2018-02-18 21:26:37 UTC

Bentre has served as a Magistrate to the Headmaster for nine months - since May of last year - and in that time has proved himself to be an invaluable part of our staff. He helped in editing and updating our Leadership courses to make them more user-friendly and relevant to the DB, he proofread and edited the latest batch of History courses that the Shadow Academy put out, and he stepped in when necessary to grade 87 courses (that's much more than almost all of the actual Professors and Docents grade in the same span of time). The biggest and most influential thing that Bentre did as M:HM, though, was utilizing his Wiki expertise to address numerous issues the SA had on the DB Wiki. On that regard he created, altered, moved, or otherwise updated over thirty articles pertaining to the SA or related topics. This was the single-largest revision the SA articles have seen on the Wiki since at least my tenure began as Headmaster and likely long before that. They were severely outdated and certainly not useful, and Bentre corrected that oversight.

For all of these reasons as well as his continued excellent service to the Shadow Academy, I'm happy to join in on recommending him for this sacramental award. He has clearly earned it. Congrats, Benny!

Without going into the nitty gritty details of what Benny has done in terms of activity, I think it's important to talk about Benny as a member of the Brotherhood.

An essential part to any team is steadfast leadership, and that we have in spades when it comes to Benny. As second-in-command for the Clan, Benny perfectly fills his role of being a Summit member, but also having an air of still feeling like part of the membership. With this unique combination of authority and comraderie, Benny has lead the charge in nearly all of CNS' goings on.

In my role as Quaestor, Benny has been an essential part of my leadership toolkit. He had been constantly available for questions and feedback and has provided a solid foundation upon which for me to build my own path as a leader. This last half year as Quaestor would have been a slog without Benny, I am certain of that. And I confidently speak for my Aedile and Battleteam Leader in saying this is true for them as well.

Sacramental awards are both just for merit, but for the legacy built by the member in question. Benny is a legend in CNS, without question, and I can think of no better person to receive this award.

I would like to take the time to recommend Bentre for commendation to you. I’m going to let others discuss his statistics. Instead I would like to discuss his can-do attitude. I’ve had the pleasure of writing with him more than once. Bentre is a level-headed, enthusiastic, and competent leader. I find him to genuinely care about those under his leadership, to be an approachable and effective leader, and to be active in leading from the front in competitions. Bentre deserves commendation. -Adept Macron Sadow, Consul Emeritus

I am more than happy to be able to add my voice to those clamoring for Bentre to be rewarded. While many of the other voices here will elaborate on the hard details, the numbers and other frankly impressive statistics, I wanted to touch on something a bit more nebulous. In my experience, he has shown that he not only grows with every interaction and event, but that he genuinely cares for the members in his clan. His continued support of those individuals, and his willingness to be there for them helps build the rapport between members in a visceral and meaningful way that will help keep new members engaged in the club itself. It is that attitude, that friendship that is important to a great many members, myself included. Thank you, Bentre. --Muz Ashen Keibatsu, the Lion of Tarthos

Primary reason

Teylas has been my Praetor for almost a year now, and in that time he’s done everything he’s been asked to do, and more importantly? A lot more that I have not needed to ask him for. One of things that people tend to struggle with club wide when writing medal and promotion recommendations is describing what people have actually done – they say that a member has excelled as a Battleteam Leader – but give us on the MAA staff no indication of what that actually means – and more importantly, what actual things have done. One of the things I’ve tried to do is ask people: “You have a thought process as to why you think your member has earned something, tell us” – so to that end, I have a thought process as to why Teylas has been a great Praetor over the past almost year.

Since becoming Praetor, Teylas has helped re-write the following policy documents: Promotion Guidelines, and the MAA Policies document. The latter is what I will focus on, when I came into the chair, there were a number of disparate (and somewhat neglected) policy documents floating on the Brotherhood Wiki. The information about titles (clan, war, other) for example, was spread across multiple documents, with duplication in some cases – and inconsistent information in others. With Teylas’ invaluable assistance, we were able to consolidate all the existing Master at Arms policy documents into one all-encompassing wiki page. He has also helped me write all of my publically posted Master at Arms reports, devoting sections or helping me construct rants.

Teylas has also been invaluable in keeping the Master at Arms Office with its impressively short turn-around time for requests that come into the database, or that come in as emailed requests (when people remember to email him!). Since becoming Praetor, he has processed over 400 requests into our database, approximately 50 manual updates to competitions, and processed about 300 competitions.

Teylas has done well for the Master at Arms Office over the past almost year, and I have full confidence that when I go on vacation (or I live at work for weeks at a time) – he will be able to handle it and nobody will notice …because he already does handle it. I’m more than happy to award him a Red Club for his work! Thank you, and congratulations!

Additional reasons

Ever since I took over as Consul earlier this year after he stepped down, Teylas has continued to be a strong and consistent presence in Clan Plagueis. Both as a leader and an active member, he's shined while doing things that those other members without a full time Praetor gig for the hardest office in the Brotherhood could not. He's also been a solid and irreplaceable leader from his place in the trenches, always there to offer advice to both me and his fellow Clan members.

In the realm of general activity, Teylas has, to use the vernacular, wrecked face. Since his last recognition in January, he has participated in 52 competitions and placed in ten of them. Those placements netted him 1 Gold Nova, 1 Ruby Crescent, 2 Amethyst Crescents, and 3 Crescents each of Sapphire and Topaz. Stepping up during major competitions has also been his forte. Teylas entered 22 competitions during our Enemy Below event, placing in three while taking 11th place overall. During the recently completed Twelfth Great Jedi War, Teylas entered 12 events (earning 12 Seals of Wrath), helped our RO team take first place for the second GJW in a row, and earned the 4th most points of any Plagueian. He has also earned 7 Clusters of Ice, 110 Clusters of Earth, and 22 Clusters of Graphite. Not bad for a guy who spends most of his time remanding recommendations!

It is as a peer leader, however, that Teylas has really made his mark on Plagueis. He has been an active part of most summit discussions, bringing his perspective and advice to the table. Even more importantly than this, however, was his help during our pre-GJW Plagueis Pro Bowl, this time featuring Taldryan. With the Great Jedi War delayed, Plagueis was looking for an event to maintain interest and capitalize on the drive for activity our members were feeling. Knowing that we were searching for something to make sure our members didn't feel like they'd been promised a Vendetta and left with nothing, Teylas volunteered to run our second annual Pro Bowl event in the interim along with Dracaryis. He didn't even flinch when we added Clan Taldryan to the mix, massively increasing his workload overnight. Teylas organized 16 competitions and co-organized 4 more, grading or entering scores for the lion's share of 473 total entries. This event was a much needed activity for both Plagueis and Taldryan, and helped begin to forge a relationship between the two units. Without Teylas's tireless efforts, it is unlikely that the event would have taken place as it did.

His work as both member and mentor have been without peer over the course of 2017, and Plagueis would not be the place that it is without his efforts. Congratulations!

In the eternal words of Bill Belichick, do your job. This mantra holds true for Howie who conducts the core duties of his job in the most efficient and fair manner in the history of our club. Congratulations on your RS and your second extremely short reward write up from me. May GMs in the future use it as an example.

Primary reason

Prophet James Lucius Entar's work ethic, ability to be flexible to wide ranging demands, and consistent dedication to the Dark Brotherhood make him one of our greatest members of all time as well as one of the most difficult to award.

In this case, Howie and I scanned James dossier to determine what SAC award he received the longest ago (SB) and determined that it was not high enough. So we moved to his second oldest SAC award and it was the Ruby Scepter.

Long ago we awarded the Ruby Scepter for dedication and mentorship to the members of the DJB. We have since changed this award to a more traditional "tiered" award making it the fifth highest award in the DJB. Regardless of the definition, James is worth of both the old RS and the new RS.

James, I can't tell you how much your dedication to this club means to all of us (And to me personally). The things you do, half of which we don't even know about, are impressive and truly place you in the pantheon of the DJB's greatest members.

Congrats!
