In the seven months since his last medal, Qyreia has continued to lead Arcona through a wave of activity. The Clan has seen participation rates consistently in excess of 66% this year, including 70% in the second quarter and a very impressive GJW showing of 65%, 78%, and 54% participation in Phase 1, Phase 2, and the Event Long phase respectively. Arcona is by far the most active clan in RP activates, with more than half of the clan routinely running or participating in RPs. On top of all of this, Arcona earned yet another First Clan title with a strong finish in GJW XVI--particularly in the Event Long phase, where its high participation eclipsed every other clan. Personally, Qyreia has organized 11 comps, and participated in 31. He picked up 85 CFs, 83 CIs, 17 CEs, and 12 CGs, and came in fourth place overall in the GJW earning four novae.

Congratulations!

As her Proconsul, it's my solemn honor to speak for the Qrees (get it? GET IT Q?) and attest to the breadth of care and organization our Red Qek Consul takes with his Clan. Behind the scenes, she maintains our tightly packed planning calendar shared amidst the Summit to schedule events at every level from Battleteam to Clan and any member ones in between, navigating scheduled times for larger outside events like the Probowl and the Great Jedi War and making certain every summiter is aware of that schedule. She handles the grind of project management as she puts out calls for wiki work and instructs on the process for writing and submitting proposed changes as well as writing proposals in general for the DB space, all while juggling rigorous hiring processes for the Summit and follow up interviews with applicants. This goes hand in hand with being the Clan's liasion to the Dark Council, as she communicates updates from the DC towards the summit daily as they occur and ensures the Clan stays apprised of all Brotherhood, Clan, and House news and events with his regular reports. She claims and writes untold numbers of recommendations for Awards and Promotions, reminds of timelines and follows up on event plans and RP organization, and makes certain she's up to date and aware in order to best navigate on the Clan's behalf with newly introduced systems or changes. The nitty gritty efficiency here might not sound glamorous, but Q's methodology and diligence have kept the Clan on task and afloat through her reign, including the last seven months, and she wisely delegates to and chooses her team to entrust with daily functioning in more nebulous areas of being phone addicts with a lot of free time energetic chat communication and community engagement. She has plotted, organized, and executed several Clan events and competitions and written truly wonderful and cognizant fiction for them while plotting to connect our Clan to the macro plot, whether or not anyone reads. Q is quiet, at a glance, but only at a glance; engage them directly and you'll be engaged right back, be that conversation, fiction sharing, gaming with fellow Brethren, etc, and take a peek behind the curtain and you'll see a regularly reigned in (sorry not sorry) summit chat steered to productivity.

I know many days your very voluntary job doesn't seem very fun, Q. Especially on the days when it seems like we're taking nothing but flak from all sides, like we're not heard, or like there's no good decisions. But you still stick with it, pull your hair out, come back, and do the work. And it's not glamorous, no. But it's critical, and you have been our backbone this whole time. I just want to say thank you for that. Thank you for being here to do the often thankless administrative trudge that allows our family and our home to continue to flourish. Thank you for your iron will and unflinching morality. And thank you for being my friend.

Arcona is lucky to have you, Shadow Lord.

Turel has been very busy this year, as all good Fists are. He has to deal with cluster processing, ensure a steady stream of gaming comps with sufficient variety, catch and fix loopholes in our rules as quickly as possible (RIP tic tac toe), and keep a finger to the pulse of the community and the gaming world at large to make sure we're supporting the games people want to play. Since his last medal, he has run 34 comps, including the GJW Pazaak tournament, participated in 59, and earned over 600 gaming clusters. He makes himself available to members for questions, concerns, and just to hang out and play games, while also contributing significantly to DC discussions that often have no direct bearing on gaming activities. Most recently, he also submitted (and I approved) an impressive revamp of the GMRG, which will launch soon! Congrats, Turel.

Hey, Tiger-man. How's it going? Surviving as Fist? That's good...because you're killing it.

Since his last medal, Turel (or Rajhin as he claims to be called these days) took to the ground running at the planning for this most recent Great Jedi War. He wanted to offer everyone a "little of something" while also making it possible for those crazies that lived and breathed competition to get a true clash going. Furthermore, he took on the gargantuan task of running a bracket tournament. For those who have done so, you will instantly know the effort and oversight required to do that at all, let alone timely during one of our club's biggest events.

Turel is a risk-taker, willing to try new things even if that might blow up in his face spectacularly. In those cases, he learns from it. Well, in all cases. He strives actively to speak for the members, giving me flashbacks to the dusty soap box in the corner. He also participates himself, being a constant presence and even playing with the member base.

I love seeing you succeed, Turel. More than that, I greatly enjoy getting to add my own words to the recognition of that success.

Congratulations.

Arch does things he doesn't have to do as HM. He builds spreadsheets no asked for just so he can whip them out in a DC debate, but he also takes it upon himself to prepare quarterly stats reports for the club as a whole and for each of the seven clans. Much of that work is now automated, but he doesn't just spit the sheets out and leave CONs to decipher them, he also provides succinct analysis and recommendations. The CONs find them useful; I find them useful. And it isn't in his job description.

What is in his job description is working to improve the SA, to make it more useful to new and old members alike and to keep it updated. That alone is a ton of work and not particularly glamorous, and he's put in the effort with his staff to get it done. He rewrote most of the Essentials courses, helped get the new Recognizing Members course out to address XP's changes to medals and promotions, and has several other major projects in the works. At the same time he has streamlined the unwieldy SA staff and put together two of the best GJW comps ever, hands down.

Like most of the current DC, Arch is also a regular (and vocal) contributor to discussions. He's wrong a lot but he keeps showing up for more. Congrats, Arch!

Well, well, well...who let the bird in?

This guy is probably my favourite member to get yelled at by, Howie aside, and that's saying something all on its own. Do I even need a rec beyond that? Hm, I suppose so.

Arch serves many functions, some of which include but may not be limited to: sounding board, he who calls out BS, idea's guy, and meme-ster. What I've always appreciated about Arch is that he'll never be the yes man in the room. He'll, instead, be the first to cry foul and tell you exactly how it goes. Then that's followed by a lot of hard data that even I wouldn't gather just to prove a point. Well played.

But that's just what goes on behind the scenes. What ends up before the members is a complete focus on the experience. With the Shadow Academy, that shows itself as a long-term redesign with a focus on ease of completion. But also being informative. Everyone should be able to go through the basic courses and be able to utilize the base functions of our club, or at least that's the goal. One Arch is continually hitting. Then came a fresh approach to what had become a sort of automated approach to GJW trivia competitions. It offered a mix between competitive and easy participation. I, for one, loved it. But I also embrace chaos, so what do I know?

I'm so very glad to talk you up once again in a recommendation, and I offer my sincere congratulations.

Qormus Aquila has been one of the most invaluable members of Clan Plagueis in the time since his last medal recognition. His two Proconsul stints have come at times where it has been absolutely critical that the Ascendant Clan have dedicated leadership in the executive officer position, and his individual activity has also been of the utmost quality that has reflected exceedingly well upon himself and his clan. His service to the Brotherhood as a whole has been nothing short of exemplary, as our newly appointed Grand Master will attest below.

In the realm of activity, Qormus has always brought more than an "A game" to the table. Since his last medal, he has submitted to 207 competitions and earned 46 crescents: 4 Diamond, 8 Ruby, 7 Amethyst, 7 Sapphire, 8 Emerald, 7 Topaz, and 5 Quartz. Qormus earns a crescent awarding placement in 22% of the competitions he enters. Additionally, he has earned 13 Clusters of Ice, 1 Cluster of Earth, 70 Clusters of Graphite, and 26 Seals of Ascension. Add to that 13 SA courses, 3 degrees, and 3 Seals of Foundation.

More important than his individual counting stats has been what he has done as Proconsul of Clan Plagueis. All too often the leadership tasks that our Clan and House summits get a bit "lost in the shuffle" because they do not show up on an assessment tracker, or they are hard to quantify. Qormus is one of the people who shine in those areas, the person who has made the transition from consumer to producer. He is there doing the hard, oftentimes thankless work that ensures our members are engaged and having a good time. Nowhere is this better proven than in how well our Clan has performed during the last two Pro Bowls. For these events, Consuls are nearly AWOL from the day to day operations of their Clans as they step into the same shoes as a Dark Councilor running a Vendetta. This leads our Proconsuls to step up to pick up the slack, something that Qormus has done exceedingly well when called upon. Pro Bowl VI saw Clan Plagueis generate 259 total entries from 21 unique participants, which was more than what we saw during the then-recently completed Great Jedi War. This was more than any other participating unit, and it was Qormus's leadership during the event, both directly engaging with members and managing our summit team to do the same themselves, that was greatly responsible for it. This year, after returning to the PCON chair after having to step away due to real life commitments, Qormus might have done even better. Even though we were a couple of members smaller than in 2022, Qormus's work saw Plagueis grow our total Pro Bowl submissions to 266 total entries from 20 unique participants. He did excellent work during the rest of his tenure for sure, but these periods where he was having to manage the Clan almost on his own show specifically what he has been responsible for as a leader divorced from any superior guiding his hand.

Each and every clan would be absolutely thrilled to have Qormus as a part of their leadership team, and I am thankful for all that has helped me accomplish for the members of Clan Plagueis. The awarding of a Ruby Scepter is but a small token of the gratitude that his Clan and his clanmates have for everything he does.

Master Selika Roh di Plagia,
Additional reasons

Since his last medal, Qormus spent 5 months as my M:DGM. During that time, besides acting as a sounding board for ideas, he undertook two major projects. First, he helped to lead the revision of the Consul's Handbook, which was a major undertaking that required dissecting an extremely outdated handbook, deciding which parts could be salvaged, and then working with the rest of his small team to identify important new information and somehow put it all together in an intelligible package. I think it turned out very nicely. Second, he spent hours digesting the last several years of club-wide and clan-specific statistics and analyzing trends. The end product was 14 pages of analysis and recommendations, which was shared with the clans for their review.

Lord Dacien Victae, 2023-10-21 13:19:46 UTC

I'm going to be 'that guy' that leaves the numbers to others on this one. What I want to speak to is Qormus' character. Qormus came under my realm of awareness in a time of uncertainty for me. I was hiring two new Hands after going an extended period bouncing between known entities. This time, I was taking a true risk not really knowing what I was going to get.

Well, what I got was a dedicated and passionate member of the Brotherhood, who can't be kept down no matter what life throws at him. In our discussions, Qormus was respectful and contemplative. When it came to potential charges, he was able to argue from the difficult position of "the defense" even if he himself may not agree with what went down. But he laid out his arguments and did it well. That was, in fact, what I hired him for...and he gave that to me in spades.

In Qormus, you have dependability, intelligence, and passion for the club. I could go on, but platitudes only go so far in recommendations. I'm just happy to be able to append my own to this request.

Congratulations, Qormus. You deserve it.

Darth Renatus, 2023-10-22 22:31:26 UTC

You'd think with less than a week in the Chamber I'd have little to say but, with actual activities that need to be addressed, I quickly saw Qormus in action. Never one to presume an outcome he's been a steward of engagement during my transition and helping me frame what's going on. I echo Atra's comments above that he's an insightful and reliable Hand and I'm glad to be working with him.

Korvis has maintained Vizsla at a steady level of participation throughout his time as Consul. For the last 10 months, Viz has enjoyed a strong roughly 60% participation rate and had one of the most consistent participation rates in GJW XVI across all three Phases. Korvis has organized 54 comps and participated in 149, winning dozens of crescents and over 500 CEs. He also participated in 12 RPs and ran 3 as DM.

Lord Dacien Victae, 2023-10-21 01:57:47 UTC

Korvis is and will without a doubt continue to be an active member of the Regent Staff. There's lots of things I could say about him, but one thing is abundantly clear throughout anything I can come up with: he gets the job done. He listens to criticisms, contributes his full Regenty attention to discussions and isn't afraid to offer differing opinion, and all around is just a great person to have on the team - always reliable, always willing to put his best foot forward to get the task at hand finished.

In the time since his last reward he's continued to serve and contributed in several areas, including the ever-looming Masterwork Possessions/crafting system, probably our biggest yet, and like other members of my staff has been instrumental in perfecting the trophy/special crafting material cost amounts and thresholds - while contributing to the meat of the project, craftable items and their associated crafting materials. He was the first to start adding Ahsoka items to a sheet, showing his willingness to jump ahead of the game and go the extra mile to get as much mainstream Star Wars media content in the system to further my main mantra as Regent, "Give the members the opportunity to buy the stuff they want, and play the characters they want". For our 6th Booster Release this spring before we truly zeroed in on the crafting system, he added/completed several items himself, completed our pre-implementation quality control check on each item, and then participated further in the process by adding 17 of those to the system, his first real stab at it! Korvis is also one of my main dudes that handle the aspect queue, handling most of the custom aspects that come into our office. Though those have dwindled since the last of the item types switched over to primarily upgrade-based aspects, he's continued taking point on them and keeping them below our standard max turn-around time.

Congratulations, Korvis!

Teebu stepped up to Tal CON under extremely difficult circumstances, but has made the most of it. In the first quarter of 2023, Tal had an impressive 72% comp participation rate. During GJW XVI, Tal clocked a solid 47% and 69% for Phases 1 and 2 and managed to secure a strong third place finish largely on the efforts of Teebu himself--Second Hero of the War. He has organized 133 comps, including Pro Bowl competitions and Tal's Mock Great Jedi War, and participated in an impressive 123. He earned 9 novae, dozens of crescents, and approximately 2,000 clusters, mainly CFs and CEs but also 116 CIs. Impressively, much of his fiction work was as an RP DM: 38,000 words of cat wrangling over an impressive 8 RP sessions.

DarkHawk is leading CNS through a period of transition, with some of the clan's old, reliable sources of leadership and experience taking a step back. Despite those challenges, CNS has managed to maintain consistent activity levels over the past year, including very impressive participation rates in Phases 1 and 2 of GJW XVI. DH has run 47 comps, including contributions to the Pro Bowl, and personally participated in 115 comps including 24 GJW comps, and he's earned a large number of crescents (almost all of them (49!) Sapphire Crescents, which is unusually consistent) and earned hundreds of clusters, particularly CFs.

Reiden Karr continues to be an absolute monster of a Magistrate. He lives and breathes his Magistrate duties, keeping up on the queue for sheets, often in under a minute of being submitted. He has an encyclopedic memory of the CS system nuances, and is very rapidly able to make good judgment calls on remands, or approvals. It is a very rare occurrence that I myself manage to get to a sheet before him, and especially so one that doesn't already have the “issue” for remand already posted in the thread on discord for discussion.

Since his last staff award, Reiden is responsible for some 487 sheet approvals for members. That is 35.19% of all sheet approvals in this time, and 66.26% of all manual approvals required. He is also responsible for a total of 77 different remands to members, helping them with issues, or improvements needed to be made.

He help goes beyond the sheet system on the site, as he is a constant presence in nearly all of the clan chatrooms on Discord. He quickly catches when people are talking about the CS system and is ready both with insightful answers and links to useful areas on the wiki to help the members with their issues. This is something I’ve had numerous members comment and specifically message me about how helpful it has been.

All in all Reiden takes his magistrate job very seriously, professionally, and with a gusto I’ve never seen matched from another member. Congrats Reiden, and thank you for being so good at what you do.

Lord Idris Adenn, 2023-08-23 18:36:52 UTC
Additional reasons

When I last submitted a Ruby Scepter for Reiden I was in awe at the amount of XP he had generated over his many years with the Brotherhood. You can imagine my surprise when I looked again and saw that he had enough XP for a second!

Reiden has recently concluded his first tenure as a Quaestor for Acclivis Draco. I commend Reiden for taking on this challenge and growing beyond his comfort zone. Leadership is a hard path for people to walk and Reiden navigated it with his usual charm and approach.

He learned a lot in terms of engaging with the members as their primary contact, the challenges of how to create competitions that are engaging, drive some plot for the House, and trying to get members to engage with the competition. Some of successful, some are not, and the lessons learned from both will help Reiden.

I sincerely hope Reiden returns to leadership in the future as he has the talent for it and he's naturally respected by the membership. It's like he's the lovable gentle giant that's in your local comic shop and regardless of what you pick up he knows about it, shares your passion for it, and can help you expand your interest.

I cannot stress how much I appreciate Reiden. He's made me a better leader by challenging me to keep myself focused on our members and I hope that he never loses that focus!

Congratulations Reiden!

TuQ'uan Varick di Plagia, otherwise known as "the Hat", has been a pillar of Clan Plagueis since his first arrival here. He has has been an absolute unit, both over the course of his career prior to the new XP system and for every second since. He's been a leader of note and a participant extraordinaire (don't stand between him and a Pro Bowl on that last one). The best point that can illustrate his prior value is this: 15,802. That is the amount of earned, lifetime medal experience TuQ was left with after he was awarded an Anteian Cross and Amethyst Kukuri when the XP system went live and I had some "automatic" medals to throw his way. The number that speaks to what he's done since? 9,465, the amount of medal XP he's added to his total since February when that Amethyst Kurkuri was awarded. See? Absolute unit.

Since his last award was issued, TuQ has entered 141 competitions and earned 1 Bronze Nova and 5 Diamond, 13 Ruby, 13 Amethyst, 14 Sapphire, 9 Emerald, 4 Topaz, and 2 Quartz crescents (a 43% placement rate). Clusters? He's got those, too, in the form of 33 Fire, 16 Ice, 221 Earth, and 8 Graphite. He recently successfully earned a Scroll of the Master for mentoring a newly joined apprentice to the rank of Knight. The Bronze Nova noted previously was for his absolute destruction of the recent Clan Vendetta against Taldryan, where he came in third overall and hit every event. He's been an excellent member, doing everything asked and then some. And then there's all the stuff he did to generate that 15,802 "left over" XP listed above during his time in service to the Ascendant Clan. 700+ lifetime competitions, 52,000+ words of fiction, leadership at literally every Clan level from Battleteam Leader to Proconsul, and 88 Vendetta seals to top it all off because TuQ is always Mr. Reliable come Vendetta season.

His work as a leader in our Clan, however, isn't something that always shows up on the stat sheet. He's all over it when it comes to his messaging where he's published all his reports on time and on target. He's directly engaged with his members on the sort of one on one level that is required in a modern Brotherhood where member attention is much more fractured. Many people say that their subordinate leaders do excellent work engaging their members, but few can back it up with the Data that TuQ can: During our recent Clan Feud, TuQ was able to get 13 of the 14 members then on his roster to submit entries during the event. Many would say that unit performance is more due to the members you happen to have and less about leadership, but I'd counter that a 92% participation rate isn't getting lucky and having active members. He works hard to cultivate a positive relationship between his members and himself, our Clan, and the Brotherhood as a whole. He is an excellent member of the Plagueian Summit, and our corner of the Brotherhood would not be the same without him.

In closing, while I feel it might be a bit dangerous to give him this red stone-bearing club, I think the risk to life and limb to the rest of us is outweighed by the requirement that TuQ be awarded this Ruby Scepter. Thank you for everything that you do, sir!
