I have known Slags for an exceedingly long time, longer than almost anyone else in this club. He can be argumentative (I have received some long emails from Slags), but I learned years ago that it comes from a good place: a desire to improve the club and the experience of the average member, not out of self interest or love of debate. His devotion to this club and to Clan Plagueis is impressive and greatly appreciated. Congrats, Slags!

Selika Roh di Plagia, Dread Lord of Clan Plagueis.
Despite the title, there is zero dread when interacting with this Consul. In the short time that I have had the pleasure of serving under "Slags", I have learned valuable lessons that boost my competencies as a Quaestor and the standing of the clan. Always available for feedback and guidance, Selika focuses on improving the clan through its members one interaction at a time.
Congratulations to you, Prophet. A well deserved promotion.
Titius Osseus, 2024-06-03 20:21:29 UTC
There are a lot of people in the Brotherhood who have mentored me, supported me, worked with me, and influenced me during my career. Slags is the reason that I've have as successful a time in the DB as possible. That isn't hyperbole for the sake of a recc.
Slags knows how to put the fire under people's feet, or occasionally their rear ends, to get them to be the best possible version of themselves. He doesn't have to be the most liked to get the best results. Looking at the history of the summit under him and the potential that has been created under his current reign is enough. If he were to retire tomorrow, there are no less than 4 Plagueians who could step in as Consul and be ready for the responsibility, and that is a testament to his leadership, guidance, and development.
Slags is the reason that I am still in the DB to this day, he is the reason for my recent DB-wide event success, he is the reason I am an Elder today. He didn't know all of this before, but he does now.
We are talking about someone who spent years on the DC and instead of retiring into obscurity, he decided to step into a messy situation, bring me along, and restore Plagueis's success. Plagueis wouldn't have finished 2nd in the GJW without Slags.
I am honoured to have been asked to speak to his promotion to Prophet and I am thrilled to get to be one of the people who gets congratulate him first.
Slagar, you are a gd superhero. Congratulations on your extremely well deserved promotion to EL3.
Master Alaris Jinn, 2024-06-05 10:33:50 UTC
Four score and seven years ago, Slags took a chance on letting a nervous new journeyman step into a roll of leadership. While the nervousness never subsided, Slags’ confidence in me has led to amazing opportunities and the ability to see Plagueis change and grow under his leadership. This is just one example of a countless many, where Slags could see the potential in people and offered the opportunity to let it grow offering advice along the way, ensuring every team he was a part of was successful by literally every metric. While he can be blunt at times, Slags is extremely passionate about pushing people to be the best that they can be and getting the most out of his team in a way that puts the member experience first and foremost. With an infectious desire to see the members of the clan grow and succeed, the results of every event Plagueis has participated in under Slags’ leadership should be evidence enough of the strength of his leadership. While the recs he has written for members of the clan summit attribute these success to the Quaestors and Proconsuls of the clan, it’s time for Slags to take some of the credit.
I can honestly say that I would not be the member I am today and the clan would not be the powerhouse it is without Slags at the helm, pushing the summit to lead by example and Do All The Things (™). Congratulations Slags on a very well deserved promotion!
TuQ’uan Varick di Plagia, 2024-06-07 01:54:01 UTC
I am not going to look at Slagar’s statistics and hard website accomplishments for this recommendation. I’m simply going to use a criteria I mentioned on another high level recommendation this week.
Slagar loves the DB. You don’t stick around this long and serve in these many high level positions if you don’t love the Club.
Slagar has worked to improve our club for years and has participated in countless improvements to it. He has been a rock for Clan Plagueis and has made it one of our better and more stable/inviting places for our members. He has also been a voice of reason and a poignant counter voice to many decisions the club has made. While we didn’t always agree on decisions, I always knew Slagar was providing honest and candid feedback based on logic and reason. I couldn’t have asked for a better voice to provide input during my two tours as GM and three tours as DGM.
Slags, you deserve this promotion in this system and any system we have ever had in the club. Congratulations.
Grand Master Declan Roark, 2024-06-07 17:20:52 UTC
Slags, you are truly a goliath of the DB. You have been here for so long and seen so many changes to the club, and you have been instrumental in positive experiences for many members, myself included. Seeing Plagueis grow under your watchful eye has been nothing short of an honor. Being able to work with you as my second, then as your second, and then simply as a friend is something I will not forget.
Your work in the Shadow Academy, as Herald, as Consul, and as simply an active member is unparalleled. You worked with me to vastly improve and add to the SA's repertoire of courses. You demonstrated artistic prowess when designing lightsabers and beyond. You oversaw Plagueis killing it in multiple vendettas. You cared, and still care, deeply about the participation of the unit as a whole. It's not about just the big guns for you, but also every member aboard the metaphorical ship.
I know I'm not very active anymore and we don't chat much these days, but please remember the positive impact you've had on this club and multiple individuals. There have been challenges, of course, but you've overcome them all. Your resilience, tolerance for bs, and knack for fixing what's broken are nothing to sneeze at.
I'm proud of you, Slags. This promotion could not come soon enough. Congratulations.

Torin Ardell, I remember meeting you as Seth when I first joined Odan-Urr back in '17, though I think the character you were using at the time was actually named Braylan. You had a host of characters and ideas at the time you jumped between and interests that bounced you between different paths. It was something that gave me hope when I first came to the club, because I was confused, unsure of how the writing worked, and glad to see others writing and shifting character POV as routinely as I tended to. You were last promoted before I joined the club, and it's high time we changed that, from one returning Odanite to (hopefully) another.
In the time since your last promotion, you've taken part in 150 different competitions, competed in 117 different gaming activities, completed 4 matches in the ACC (with a total word count of 5,571), written 8 standard fictions totalling 15,490 words, and taken part in 4 different Run-Ons with a combined word count, over 9 posts, of 5,143 words.
The societies were also graced by your presence in this time, with you passing another 2 courses to earn 2 further degrees. As well your standing amongst the societies rose, by 1 rank in the Collegium of Sciences, 3 in the GMRG, 2 in the Inquisitorius, 2 in the Shroud Syndicate, and 2 as a participant in the ACC Halls.
You had also served us shortly as the Battleteam Leader of the Knights of Allusis, during which time you relayed routine reports.
All of this earned you an impressive amount of accolades over the years, some of which aren't even on the board to earn any longer, but, I would be remiss to not recount the things that have brought you this far. Since 2016 you have earned 1 Sapphire Blade, 1 Grand Cross, 2 Steel Crosses, 7 Crescents with Ruby Stars, 7 Crescents with Amethyst Stars, 18 Crescents with Sapphire Stars, 12 Crescents with Emerald Stars, 7 Crescents with Topaz Stars, 10 Pendants of Blood, 1,487 Clusters of Fire, 52 Clusters of Ice, 14 Clusters of Graphite, 1 Legion of the Scholar, 1 Seal of Loyalty, and 15 Seals of Wrath.
I hope news of your long-deserved promotion reaches you, Torin, and maybe the same itch that brought me back to The Brotherhood will catch you as well. The things you've done, and undoubtedly still continue to do somewhere out there, are exactly what this Clan and Club both are built on.
Ever onwards!

Proconsul Wulfram Armis has reached the required 23000 XP to reach the rank of Equite 3.
That's right, there's more!!
I'll be copying over the rec I wrote for your Kukri because everything I mentioned is worthy of both the sacramental and your elevation. You are truly appreciated and I wouldn't want to do it without you.
I really hit a home run when I hired Wulf as my Proconsul 5 months ago. I knew that one of my biggest missions was to find a second in command that shared my drive, passion, and commitment. He possesses all three and then some. Since switching over, he has helped me tremendously, even when life decided to kick me in the pants, and really stepped up and operated beyond what I expected of him. Not only has he brought in a slew of new recruits, (last count was 10), but he has been instrumental in helping them gain traction here as members by explaining the club, maintaing communication, and advertising events. He has worked with me to build our leadership team (kept up with emails, keeping them informed through discord, discussing goals and future plans, pulling them aside and has helped them create unique competitions, as well as offering advice and opinions), has written multiple reports in my absence, taken charge of the Scimitar of Hoth which is an ongoing event to award our most active member. What was once a headache, in that we had to manually input all of the information needed. Tracking all of that activity was messy. He managed to automate the system, making it work seamlessly where activity is tracked and organized automatically into a doc format. He also reorganized the entire Clan fleet, has been working with other leaders of the Clan on wiki articles, categorizing and consolidating articles alongside two other leaders, and and has helped boost the number of competitions the Clan runs by producing a staggering 109 competitions while still finding the time to participate in 60 himself. He has also worked with Tisto on a year-long project to create a new brand of competition that I hope will help stir activity within our Clan even further in creating the Western Marches of Clan Odan-Urr Event. In addition he has written over 2000 words of fiction, over 6000 words for RP, and participated in 37 gaming activities. A jack of all trades, not only is he a patient and organized leader, but he is an active participant who keeps pushing the envelope in order to lead from the front. Earning himself, an Amethyst Kukri, 3 Crescent with Diamond Stars, 3 Crescent with Ruby Stars, 6 Crescent with Amethyst Stars, 3 Crescent with Sapphire Stars, 5 Crescent with Emerald Stars, 3 Crescent with Topaz Stars, 1 Crescent with Quartz Star, 374 Clusters of Fire, 19 Clusters of Ice, 6 Clusters of Graphite, 2 Scroll of Indoctrinations, and a Seal of Loyalty.
Wulf, I can't thank you enough for everything you've done for this Clan. For being a solid leader and a friend that always has his ears open. For stepping up and for being independent but also a team player. You've earned this, my friend and I honestly can't say enough good things about what you bring to the table. I know that the Clan is and will be in good hands for many years to come. Onward to greatness!!

Edgar, you finally made it!
It's been a long time coming, my friend. But it's certainly deserved. I've known you for quite some time now. You were the Quaestor of Hoth when Gui got his start and you were always a passionate and dedicated leader. I was thrilled to see you return and was happy to see that you picked up where you left off. Jumping back into the gaming fold as one of the most active gamers of our Clan. You have always been a pillar of Odan-Urr and I'm glad that I can be the one to push this one through. As is customary, I can't toss up a rec without mentioning just some of the things you've done since your last elevation.
Not only has Ed run 38 competitions but he has participated in a whopping 385 and participated in 480 gaming activities. He has earned an Amethyst Kukri, Sapphire Blade, 2 Grand Crosses, 2 Anteian Crosses, 1 Silver Nova, 3 Crescent with Diamond Stars, 14 Crescent with Ruby Stars, 25 Crescent with Amethyst Stars, 14 Crescent with Sapphire Stars, 12 Crescent with Emerald Stars, 5 Crescent with Topaz Stars, 2 Crescent with Quartz Stars, 9 Pendants of Blood, 3795 Clusters of Fire, 1 Cluster of Ice, 24 Clusters of Graphite, 1 Scroll of Indoctrination, 6 Scroll of Foundation, 1 Scroll of the Master, 5 Seals of Fury, 3 Seals of Discord, 6 Seals of Visions, 9 Seals of Enmity, Served for 5 months as a Quaestor, and 4 months as a Praetor to the Headmaster and Docent.
Well done, Ed, keep killin it!

Three months ago the Hoth father came back to us and has been an indispensable part of unit activity since. Continually battling with Windos for the honor of the top spot in claiming the Scimitar of Hoth and just overall presence. Another amongst the myriad of faces I first met when I joined The Brotherhood seven years ago, I'm glad to see his continuous efforts and actions through the years have finally paid off, and I find it in good humour that I had just graded a competition moments before getting the promotion request.
This is something long overdue, Edgar,
Ever Onward, to greater heights.
High Councillor Wolfe, 2024-06-04 22:34:39 UTC
Edgar, the man, the myth, the legend. The Hothfather, cane waver and many other nicknames he’s garnered over the years. I’ve known Ed a long time, his is the only PIN I know beyond my own because we joined on the same day and his is one higher than mine. So I am uniquely situated to speak on his career and why his elevation to the Elder ranks has been a long time coming.
First, Edgar is a leader. As I said in a Sapphire Blade he is one of the finest unit leaders I have ever known or worked with. He is passionate, driven and always puts his members first. He cheerleads individual members to excel, as one of the most effective activity promoters I’ve ever seen. His mere presence on a summit drives all the leaders around him to step up their game and provide the best experience for their members. When in a leadership role he is a prolific content creator, hosting multiple house events and helping found the lore of House Hoth and the planet Solyiat. He led by example in terms of individual activity. And when he settled into “cane waver” status as we say in COU, he remained a tireless advocate for the individual members. I do not exaggerate in the least when I say that Edgar directly and meaningfully contributed to the success of COU in the 2015-2018 era. Certainly my terms as Proconsul and Consul would not have been as successful without Ed’s hard work and spirit.
Second, Edgar is a consummate gamer. As the sitting Fist I can speak to Edgar’s contributions to the gaming community. Officially Ed served as Praetor to the Fist for which he received a sapphire blade just for his Fist staff work. In the Fist office Ed exhibited his high standard of work, testing out and proposing new gaming platforms (he helped lead the charge to get Heroes of the Storm approved), helping with the administration of the office and onboarding of new Magistrates and innovating in Fist staff content creation. He personally processed 673 gaming submissions directly supporting 201 unique members. Informally Edgar has always driven gaming activity, forming gaming groups, helping others get clusters, teaming up with other members to help with PVE content, etc. When Ed is around and active he’s usually down to play just about anything. His presence in the gaming community helped it not only grow but helped members form those connections with one another through gaming together.
Ed has made an impact on COU, the gaming community and the club as a whole. He may be semi-retired these days, but few can deny that he has walked the path of an elder long before this day. He has more than earned this elevation to the elder ranks under any standard, old or new.
Congrats old friend.

Turel joined this club just over ten years ago. He quickly worked his way to the top of Clan Odan Urr, presiding over something of a golden age for the clan and laying groundwork for his successors to build upon. I certainly knew who he was at the time, but I didn't have much interaction with him until Jac selected us both to serve as his Hands in the CoJ--me as RHoJ, Turel as LHoJ. We served a full year together in those roles, fully resolving three cases and advising on several other matters that never resulted in charges.
In that role, I learned how seriously he takes the rights of his fellow members and how much he cares about ensuring that everyone is treated fairly. I assume most people think those things are important, but very few are willing to dedicate their time and energy to them over so many years, and to do it so well--he has made some incredibly persuasive arguments on behalf of charged members, and even if they were ultimately convicted and punished, his advocacy certainly made us all think twice very carefully about it.
As Fist, he's had some tough acts to follow. Valhavoc and Drac (first, second, and third terms) cast long shadows, but Turel hasn't been intimated or hesitated to make major changes that he believed were necessary. It's a tough job, perhaps the toughest regular DC role in terms of feedback, but Turel has proven himself to be more than a match for it. If anyone has earned EL2, it's you. Congrats.
Lord Dacien Victae, 2024-06-06 21:12:06 UTC
- Additional reasons
-
Turel is a big part of why I'm here today. He was one of my initial summit members and mentored me through the first several years of my career. If I know anything about award sweeps and the medal and promotion processes, it's because Turel trained me. My philosophy and approach to unit leadership are, I think, pretty obviously informed by the example he set as my PCON and CON.
But beyond that, Turel is in a very literal sense the reason why I'm HM right now. Going into 2022, I was overwhelmingly frustrated with DB politics for reasons that aren't worth going into here. Turel got a front row seat to a lot of my venting about it. But this was around the time when he took on the Fist job.
Now, if there's anybody who can claim disillusionment with club politics, Turel might be it. His early career was derailed by a CoJ conviction in a case which, frankly, would not have been prosecuted today. His Consul term, otherwise an unblemished success, was mired by an unending whirl of inter-clan and club-level drama that had little, if anything, to do with him. In the following years he developed a reputation as, to use the then-GM's word, a "malcontent." This reputation not only interfered with his career, it briefly got to the point where valid arguments were discredited just by association with Turel. And his term as Combat Master did not go as he would have liked.
Our community, at its worst, features grandstanding, temper tantrums, grievance collection, and pettiness that would put HOAs and academics to shame. Other members, faced with some of the challenges I've just listed, have stormed off in a huff, or turned to harassment, or desperately scrambled to avoid any accountability by attacking somebody else. While sometimes those members burn their last bridges, that behavior hasn't always disqualified people from promotions to our highest ranks and positions. So the temptation to wallow in salt and contribute to that worse nature is always there.
But that's our worst: at our best, this community changes lives for the better. Across the nine years that I've known Turel, through his highs and lows, has always valued that and pushed himself to build up that community, to challenge both himself and those around him to embrace our better natures instead of taking the easy way out. He could have taken the easy way out after his conviction. He didn't. He owned his mistake and made himself a positive example. He earned mutual respect from multiple Justicars and served multiple terms as LHoJ to ensure that every member brought before the Chamber receives due process and compassion without sacrificing accountability. When his efforts to serve as a self-appointed champion of the members turned unhelpful, Turel did the soul searching required to come to terms with that. He took on the even more difficult task of repairing the relationships he'd damaged, a process that took years, patience, and no small amount of humility.
Over and over and over again, I've watched Turel dust himself off and get back to work, turn the other cheek to work with people who've been shitty and unfair to him, or just get over himself and get back to work. I've watched him challenge others to do the same, to "not be that guy" but instead to refocus on what benefits the community around them.
So, to get back to my initial point, it's not surprising that when I was ready to walk away, it was Turel who convinced me not to. He understood my frustrations in a visceral way, but he didn't let me off the hook. He made it clear that if I'd get over myself and go for a Council position, I could do a lot of good for the community. And for the past year and a half, as I have so often over my club career, I have tried to live up to his expectation of me.
That's real leadership: the ability to inspire others to be better than they could get away with. It's precious and all too rare. That's Turel.

Moff Alethia Archenksova, 2024-06-06 15:54:14 UTC
Rajhin/Turel excels in being a leader in his role as FIST and within the community as he has always elevated other members to be better versions of themselves. Whether taking on a member as part of his staff to guide them to be more active and engaged, offering advice to individual members on improving their proposals, and advocating for members to ensure their voices are heard in the gaming community. He will drop whatever he is doing to help a member on even the most minimal of issues. Turel is an underappreciated influence on the Brotherhood and his efforts have stimulated the regrowth of the gaming community. His efforts are not short of adding new PC or console games that are not just within one genre, but working with members to get Pazaak, Star Wars CCG, and CAH supported. He has considered the members who would otherwise be hidden in support needs such as getting the Scripty bot added for Hard of Hearing or Deaf members. He has not been afraid of seeking new ideas that were not thought about before or were not adopted due to different times. Turel has been one of the most flexible FISTs to be considerate of members and I am proud of all his accomplishments. He has more than deserved this.

Mejas Doto di Primus Tebebrous Arconae was one of the originals. A true don, he helped shape the earliest iteration of the clan by fleshing out its fictional background. As Consul, he led the way through the dark pre-split days, to happily step back when a new generation came to the fore. He returned some years later, again as Consul and provided me with some of the best leadership training I could've ever hope to receive. Mejas was a true mentor and made sure to shepherd the Clan and rebuild its leadership into something that would self-sustaining for generations to come. Without Mejas, there would be no Arcona and for that he has my heartfelt thanks and admiration.

Orv is a true DB legend, without a doubt one of our most (multi) talented members and just generally a great guy. He's the only member in DB history to serve as both Seneschal and Herald (I'm rocking the sabers he made for me a decade ago), and we wouldn't be where we are today without his efforts over the years. Plus, his DB comics series is still hilarious, which is obviously worth EL3 all by itself.

Mango.
Howlader Taldrya, 2024-06-03 15:12:16 UTC
The Dark Council has two definitive 'hard skill' slots in Seneschal and Herald, and Orv proved himself more than capable of doing both, during times when we needed them.
Orv literally came to us in the heat of a major issue. Scriptkiddies had been running rampant through our site, SQL injectors were wreaking havoc, and the site had crashed literal days before a major GJW. We had to restore the site from a backup while implementing security changes that would patch those vulnerabilities and do it in an absurd timeframe. If that sounds intense, that is because it absolutely was. For a volunteer organization working for shiny pixels, it's even wilder. I'm only vaguely aware of how they had managed to save the site, but I will be eternally grateful for that. On top of that, he spent countless hours migrating old ASP code into the new PHP for the new site, working intensely to help ensure that we would have a shiny new site going into the future.
Throughout it all, Orv's sense of humor and whimsy persisted, and his comics helped bring much needed levity to the whole club in the coding courses he put forth on the Shadow Academy. Always calm and approachable, he never let really anything bother him, even though there certainly was enough in those days to qualify. As he pivoted to take up the mantle of Herald, it became increasingly evident that Orv is a man of myriad talents. His artwork in that role helped push the brotherhood forward with new and fresh styles that can still be seen in the site today.
As we take the time to look again at pillars of the club that have helped us get to where we are today, I am quite glad to be able to put words down in support of Orv being recognized again. He is an incredible member, a true renaissance man, and a genuinely nice person. May his mangos be few and his borks be loud. Thank you again, Orv.
Lord Muz Ashen Keibatsu, 2024-06-03 15:39:08 UTC
When Orvles took up Herald just over a decade ago, the office was in disarray. We had almost no files (old ones), no originals, no organization and certainly no request management outside of a mountain of emails. It was a few years before requests went through the website and long before apps like Trello were big. Splinter Orv hired a new crew and brought me on as Praetor (he may have been influenced by a 'totally radical' TMNT themed Powerpoint <3 ). I was assimilated into Bork society and found him to be, and still is, one of the coolest, most down to earth and funny people I've worked for in DB or RL. I would be there again in a heartbeat. He brought a whole new style of art with him that immediately screamed "fun", the results of which are still found everywhere on our website, email and his famous SA courses. Now while a fantastic artist he was, the Great Bork found many a mango with the organization side of Heralding, which we both kind of just stumbled through. He made a great and classic comic for tha–MOAR PANDA.
When I eventually succeeded Orv, he became a Magistrate to start an avatar "service" for DB, which included planning a generator of sorts as at the time we didn't have AI or HeroForge and whatnot. While that didn't come to fruition, he made dozens of artworks for it and dozens of personal avatars for members. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that his willingness and eagerness to turn around and work for me was absolutely amazing and incredibly humbling. I believe it to be at least partially why I am happy to do so for the next generation and even today. While it was Bubba that suggested it, Orv's fun and self-deprecating humor gave me the courage to push through my fears and out of my comfort zone to make and publish my own DB comics. I can't begin to express how grateful I am to have had him as a mentor, leader, and friend.
The visual styles of DB graphics have changed over the years with the contributions of the Heralds of the time. Orv's particular style and humor remains a treasure wherever it is found in some of the most random places of this storied club, including whenever the website hiccups (404) we get to see the little Orvlings trying to fix it, old humorous absurdities, is always family friendly and his work is still one of the first things a new member sees as they are joining us (oops, wrong one?) - it is that timeless. He even had his own character Orv killed for benefit of a GJW. He indoctrinated many into the Bork society and brought out fun in all aspects of it, infecting the club at large and making a wonderful, lasting impression.
In closing, Orvles doesn't always herdy dur mur flerpty floopin, but when he does, yer der shmer dor her der foomty, der shoopin flerprty dur!
May the Bork be with you always.

I kind of sprouted all my mango seeds with the last promotion request, so I'll keep it short and sweet (like a mango) for this one.
We lucked out that Orv decided to rejoin us after reading our nicely worded recommendation that definitely wasn't a trap card, nope . Since returning what I think is like a week or so in change ago, Orv was able to update his CS, tweak his loadout, re-aquaint himself with the modern DB, and already floated some ideas for future competition ideas that could be a lot of fun. He's jumped into his first RP already, and continues to remind everyone that now gets the pleasure of meeting for the first time, or re-meeting him, how great of a member of the community he is and how his presence helps us all shine brighter.
I hope this means you'll keep sticking around to hang out with us, because it's been great having you back in Arcona and the Brotherhood!

You're already beginning to make a name for yourself, Sepulchralia. I have heard reports from Battleteam Selen Training Corps that you have managed to accumulate 5 XP.
I have recommended you for immediate promotion.
Congratulations, and may the Force guide you, Novice,
