Socorra has been a great help to me as Grand Master since joining my staff over half a year ago. Her help in discussing my plans for member experience and where all the various projects I had going were at at organizing and moving things forward has been helpful. While I will let future awards speak for her accomplishments on specific projects, her support of me while continuing to be a rockstar within her Clan have more than proven she has earned this medal. Congratulations Socorra on your Ruby Scepter.

Lord Evio Nezsa, 2023-01-06 00:01:45 UTC
Additional reasons

Socorra is one of Arcona’s “old guard” that managed to claw her way out of retirement, and she returned with a vengeance. In raw stats, since her merit recognition in January, she has organized no less than 31 competitions, co-organizing 2, and participating in a staggering 222, 29 of which were from GJW XV as evidenced by her collection of Seals of Ascension. From that, she has collected 54 placements that included a Gold Nova, a Silver Nova, and 5 Bronze Novae. From gaming, she collected 1 Cluster of Fire and 23 Clusters of Earth. Where she really shines though are in fiction and graphics: 122 Clusters of Ice from over 54,000 words of fiction across regular fiction activities and roleplaying, and a staggering 158 Clusters of Graphite from her many quality contributions in the DJB art community. Additionally, she also mentored a newcomer into Knighthood, garnering a Scroll of Indoctrination, plus a Seal of Loyalty for her steadfast dedication to Arcona so soon after her return. Even in the Shadow Academy, she has been particularly busy, cranking out 38 courses and earning 4 SA degrees in the process.

Within the Clan and House, she has worked as Battleteam Leader for the last 8 months to reinvigorate House Galeres by generating a new Battleteam — the Dajorran Marshals, a space-cowboy vigilante group dedicated to patrolling Arcona’s home system — from the prior Spectre Cells Battleteam to which she was originally appointed. In that time, her primary efforts have been to instill a sense of belonging in the BT as well as vigorously generate activity through several large RP efforts. The latter included not only generating story arc material, but also the myriad maps that went with them for the members to reference the course of the plot. This was all in addition to her esoteric work as Praetor to the GM.

Socks has been a welcome return to the Clan. She tackled the learning curve of a long absence, came in swinging, and set herself and others up for success in the process. So thank you, Socks, for all of your hard work.

Qyreia
Consul, Clan Arcona

Qyreia Arronen, 2023-01-03 16:30:25 UTC

Since she has returned to Arcona, Socorra has been a wealth of knowledge to inquiry about leadership skills and guidance to facilitate the betterment and growth of the house. In her return and during this time to share her presence on the Summit, Socorra has assisted in running two house events, Operation Stormfront and The Blindshot Games. She has assisted in preparing and setting up the competitions within both events. She has picked back up the rhythm of being a leader quickly as the Operation Stormfront was just at her appointment of BTL of Dajorran Marshals. Socorra is deserving of the Ruby Scepter by all of her accomplishments previously acknowledged by Qyreia and Nehalem, and the continued dedicated drive to improve membership experience with her hard work as the House Battle Team Leader and throughout DB leadership as the P:GM.

Thran continues to be a force to be reckoned with, no matter what position he's serving (whether as my Praetor or Kamjin's Proconsul) and remains the most instrumental part of my staff. Since I last recognized Thran's contributions, he has continued plugging away at a multitude of projects to make the possessions system better for the entirety of the club.

During the last several months, Thran has:

  • Reviewed every current item prototype release to date (dating all the way back to Evant's term) to assign them to a Regent release filter in the prototype research page, over a thousand items, to make it easier for members to filter and search for items from a specific release
  • Led the deploy of our third booster release in May, working with Magistrate Korvis. He personally added 10/18 prototypes to the system, did our mandatory quality check on all 18 entries, and stocked each of those items to the store
  • Completed, just like Planetary Assets, almost the entirety of the Land Vehicle Upgrades project by himself, which included the full development of well over 100 new prototypes, building a pricing structure for those items, eliminating the old modification aspect type and replacing it with a new one, adding the new upgrade slots (and aspect type change) to every single member land vehicle item in our system, inputting all 121 new upgrades into the system as prototypes, running several quality control checks to ensure spelling and grammar accuracy as well as proper input and creation of the stocking rules, and finally going back into those item prototype pages and stocking them to the new store
  • Came up with the initial concept of a "chop shop" for our land vehicle upgrade store, which eventually evolved into honoring one of our greatest members, Frosty Tarentae
  • Has hit the ground running on the Capital Space Vehicle Upgrades project, compiling a list of 32 potential upgrades so far. This is a project I specifically saved for Thran, and he'll be the one doing most of the development on this project.

Thran continues to be an active participant in every discussion we hold, literally a beacon of activity. I would be lying if I said that he wasn't my right hand man, and it is such an incredible joy working with him. He's always got the club's interests at heart, and it shows. His contributions and sheer effort he puts into everything he does speaks for itself. There is zero doubt in my mind that this club would be a lot less enjoyable if Thran were not in it.

For his contributions to the entirety of the Brotherhood, I hereby request this Ruby Scepter for Thran (Thran did things, now Thran gets medal).

Anubis, 2022-10-31 15:17:37 UTC
Additional reasons

Thran continues to be an amazing usurper Proconsul. While he may set me on fire...or mind-trick me to go walk away...or openly flaunt my authority...he's always got his the clan's best interested at heart.

Thran has taken point on working with the QUAs over the last few months while I have been focused on assisting with the ProBowl. We've laid out several projects for the both of us to finalize and publish in the last quarter of 2022 as we continue to rebuild the CSP story arc.

By the numbers, Thran continues to dominate, having recently taken first place in the ProBowl; leading the Rotworms to victory for the second year running.

Noobi has been hard at work this year churning out item releases, new policies like Artifact and Dominion policies, and successfully implementing weapons upgrades as a new possessions system. His energy is boundless, which shows from his constant input on DC discussions, the 34 comps he's run, and the 79 he has participated in, plus hundreds of clusters. He also played an important role in getting our new RP system tested and running, and has racked up almost 20,000 words of RP activity.

Keep it up, Noobi!

Zxyl has managed a steady flow of content to the possessions system, and helped bring in planetary assets. While working away at the list of deliverables to finish the system. In addition to his work in helping maintain the integration of the possessions system into the Vendettas we run to make them more rewarding for members. In addition to this, he has also hired a great staff that has been mentored and trained on the system to help spread transparency to everything and mentor a future set of leaders who can help continue to see the system succeed and stay balanced. For all this great work, thank you. Congratulations.

Over the last seven months, Revak has kept up a high level of activity, participating in 143 competitions and earning three dozen crescents, plus 167 CFs, 112 CEs, 112 CGs, and 61 CIs. He has also helped the Exarch develop RP as a club-wide activity and contributed about 25,000 words of written activity across fiction, RP, and RO.

As Consul, Revak organized 16 competitions and helped push his clan to the second-highest participation rate in GJW XV: Ascension while also participating in all 29 competitions himself. Revak has done a great job keeping COU busy and active and is a regularly contributor to leadership discussions.

Great work, Revak!

Lord Dacien Victae, 2022-08-06 03:19:11 UTC
Additional reasons

Revak, if nothing else, provides a lot of fun images, content, data, and opportunities in all that he does as a leader. At least comparing his reports to most others I read. He continues to build and create a space for members of his Clan to be their best (or some version of) selves in a more light side path and participate in Clan wide events. Thank you for all the great opportunities you provide as a leader and Consul of COU and looking forward to see what you do over the coming year. Congratulations.

Primary reason

Kamjin "Other Mav" Lap'lamiz has been one of the busiest people in the club, holding down both Consul and RhoJ (and LHoJ before that) while also churning out absurd levels of activity. In the last seven months, he has participated in 162 competitions, winning 57 crescents, a GN, and an SN, written roughly 50,000 words across all fiction activities, earned 317 CFs, 127 CIs, 149 CEs, 165 CGs, and participated in all 29 GJW XV competitions in a desperate search for the Mother. He keeps himself busy.

As Consul, he organized or co-organized 24 competitions, including the Tal v. CSP event and the 12 competition CSP-only Dark Times Saga conclusion. Since becoming CON last October, CSP has enjoyed a kind of renaissance, with activity on the rise and a number of new and returning members along for the ride. We're lucky to have you, Kam. Keep up the good work!

Lord Dacien Victae, 2022-08-06 02:29:29 UTC
Additional reasons

As a former member of CSP myself, I didn't know the name Kamjin. Who remembers leaders who disappeared years ago? Our time as a leaders in the Clan have years of gap but he's back and giving his all to building an incredible community and as a leader. His dedication to building a fun, approachable, and easy to engage with community are greatly appreciated as he always puts members first and can easily put himself in their shoes and try and make it better for them. Thank you for all you do for the community and congratulations!

Lord Evio Nezsa, 2022-08-05 21:13:56 UTC

What all is there I can possibly say about the artist known as "Other Mav"? He continues to be a steadfast member of my Chamber and a reliable presence. His member first attitude is so clear it could border on obsessive. You think I'm just talking him up, but I'm honestly not. Everything he says circles back to the membership.

Every. Single. Thing.

Each argument or observation. They're all from the perspective of the membership and what might be best for them on the whole. Honestly, it's so great to see and is exactly what I would expect from someone being recommended for a Ruby Scepter. The crimson bonk stick is awarded for dedication and demonstration of value. Kamjin is "value". His picture is right there. You can look to just his work in the Chamber to see that, but you can far more easily look to his work as Consul. Honestly, #BeatKamjin is a great motivator and I love to see it. In fact, I'd partake if I could! It's great to see the life he's trying to bring into Scholae Palatinae and the enthusiasm he brings to every challenge he faces.

Congratulations Kamjin.

Drac has been busy in the year since his last medal. For half of that time, he has served his third term as Fist. Aside from being a trusted and consistent adviser to me and Evant (and his fellow Dark Councilors, for that matter), he took it upon himself to drastically (Dracstically?) overhaul DB gaming: he abolished traditional PvP as a separate and overly complex activity, replacing it with a more accessible and popular system that rewards wins and losses equally; he reworked the GMRG Society to end its reliance on the gaming leaderboard, opening maximum society advancement to a much wider audience; and he conceived and successfully instituted the casual gaming queue, which has driven sustained DB gaming activity to levels rarely seen outside of vendettas.

Few DCers have come into office with so many big ideas and actually accomplished all of their goals; I'm not sure anyone has done it in just six months before Drac. In short, he nailed it.

Congratulations!

Lord Dacien Victae, 2022-04-07 01:18:03 UTC
Additional reasons

Drac stepped in and hit the ground running, to no surprise. He had a vision, made it clear what he needed to be successful and accomplished a lot in his short time as Fist of the Brotherhood. He took gaming to a place that was a better natural fit for the membership, making changes that helped take our gaming processes to where the members were, instead of a build and they will come approach. His guidance and leadership in this short time have earned him this medal. Congratulations.

Halc did, does, and will continue to do work for the Brotherhood. That's who he is. Since his last recognition, Halc has participated in 103 competitions, co-organized 3 more, earned two novae, 22 crescents, 29 clusters, and I gather was generally a pain the ass of the Dark Council.

Since coming to the Master at Arms office, Halc has used his prior knowledge and experience (because he's an old ass DBer and a previous Master at Arms) to support our efforts.

The real work of the MAA Office comes in the day to day work of approving and denying medal requests, processing appointments and resignations, managing competitions (and manually editing competitions) – and knowing the nuances of our database to make competitions work (for instance, switching competition archetypes to allow manual addition of participants, and then switching it back). Like all that came before him and those that will come after - Halc's biggest contributions are related to the discussions that occur among the staff about medals and promotions. That happens with every single sacramental award (and many of the merit), every equite and higher promotion – that is where the bulk of the work occurs.

Enjoy your red club, Halcy von Doodle.

Howlader Taldrya, 2022-01-06 18:28:31 UTC
Additional reasons

Halcyon rejoined Taldryan back in 2018 shortly before my appointment for my second tenure as Consul of Clan Taldryan and stayed during my tenure. During that time Halcyon was a backbone for the activity and the fictional development of the Clan during that time. He also briefly joined me as Proconsul of the Clan.

Overall, Halcyon participated in a total of 80 Competitions during my second reign as Consul, adding 18 Crescents of various Rarities, 3 Legions of the Scholar, 6 Clusters of Graphite, and 10 Clusters of Ice, and most importantly 1 Seal of Loyalty to his achievements.

The above alone is a testament to the dedication of Halcyon but in fact, it's only half of what he stands for. Halcyon does all this not for himself but to give back to the rest of the Brotherhood.

This is what this Club is standing for and why Halcyon is more than deserving of this Ruby Scepter, congratulations Halcyon.

Rian Taldrya, 2021-12-30 22:19:28 UTC

Halc as my Praetor for 10 months did work hand in hand with me as Regent in covering almost everything, and his time as Magistrate and his time as Praetor the work done didn't change, just his site access. It was over a solid year of impact on the office processing requests of members, reviewing items and helping members create fun compelling items and fixing so many credit things on the site that went wrong. So much went wrong. Anything I accomplished over that year was accomplished because I didn't have to worry about the day to day because Halc is so awesome. He earned this medal years ago, may it drown in all his other accomplishments.

Primary reason

Kordath is without a doubt a premier leader in this club. There really is no other way to put it. He’s a pillar within Arcona, a paragon of activity and leadership. He has devoted countless hours to this club, both as a member and as a leader, even after reaching the heights of Elder rank.

Since his last promotion, he has organized 48 competitions, many of which were long-running club-wide competitions. He has also participated in 242 competitions. This has netted him a ton of clusters (34 Fire, 166 Ice, 37 Earth, 36 Graphite), a respectable number of crescents (2 Diamond, 7 Ruby, 20 Amethyst, 22 Sapphire, 10 Emerald, 4 Topaz, 3 Quartz), 5 PoBs and 3 LoS’s. During the last Vendettas, he scored a Gold Nova, a Silver Nova, a Bronze Nova, 12 Seals of Enmity, and 14 Seals of Vision. When he is not doing all the competitions, he is ACCing, having finished 8 matches and judged 32. His keyboard also goes brrrr outside the ACC, where he has written a total of 53,854 words of fiction. He passed 9 SA courses, gained 2 degrees, and has graded 6 courses. Finally, he received 2 Scrolls of Foundation and 8 Scrolls of Indoctrination!

In addition to his regular activity, he continues to work within multiple roles within the club. He had served as an ACC judge for over 2 years, and Turel’s recc will provide more insight into his work there. He is also finishing up his tenure as Arcona’s Rollmaster, a job that he’s held since January of 2020.

As Rollmaster, he works closely with new members by assessing their needs and helping to guide them through the process. For example, he recently helped one new join who had been stuck for a couple of weeks on the Trial of Identity. As Rollmaster, he has worked directly with 28 new joins. Of those, 11 remain active members of the club. He has seen 6 of them through to the rank of Knight. Knowing that his tenure is coming to an end, Kord has been working with newer members to get them ready to take over for him. He has been assisting them with applications and teaching them the ropes of leadership in our Clan.

From a project standpoint, he has also taken point in world-building through the Selen Development Project competition series. Once the judging was done on each of these competitions, he worked with Grot to facilitate translating the winning entries into wiki entries. He also worked closely with a few other Arconans to draft a lengthy proposal regarding changes to the Arconan fleet. Upon receiving the go-ahead, he took responsibility for purchasing and reorganizing the clan possessions. He continues to be instrumental with our Fleet, helping to plan out the best way to utilize our funds to have the strongest fleet for our Clan, along with how we would utilize the fleet fictionally.

On a more personal note, Kord has been instrumental to my success in Arcona. He showed me how to be a leader, pulling me up when I came over to this Clan. Working closely with him taught me a lot and I will be forever grateful for him. He also has been a steady hand to help guide me when real-life stuff knocked me off my feet. His dedication and friendship have been paramount to my ability to continue on.

He is a friendly and helpful presence no matter what the venue. Discord, Telegram, Hangouts, he is there (though he may not necessarily be awake), cracking jokes, sharing knowledge, and just generally being awesome. He is always quick to hype an event or to congratulate others for a promotion or an award.

I honestly don’t know what I would do without him. He is a huge asset to Arcona and to this club. He spends countless hours actively helping to make the DJB a more fun and interesting place. As such, I am proud to recommend him for a Ruby Scepter. Congratulations on your new RS Kord!

Dr. Ben, 2021-12-30 19:29:00 UTC
Additional reasons

Since his last recognition, Stres'tron'garmis or Kord was an absolute pillar of the Antei Combat Centre staff. In that time period, Kord has proven to be one of the most efficient and reliable judges, serving as lead judge on an impressive 32 matches. To put that number in context, Kord served as lead judge in 31% of all matches completed as one of nine judges completing judgments during that period. He also provided timely support to his fellow judges in the form of rule of two review on at least 8 additional matches. Kord completed 5 ACC qualification exams with an average turnaround time from member submission to grading of 10 hours. All these activities in support of the members who use the Antei Combat Centre required a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.

Kord also supported Arch and myself in our respective tenures as Combat Master through thoughtful and frank advice, participation in staff discussions and a detailed review of the current version of the ACC rubric prior to publication. In my tenure as Combat Master Kord was my rock and my cornerstone. If I had to put a conservative estimate to it I would say Kord has spent a solid 40-45 hours of direct work in support of the ACC since his last recognition. On behalf of Arch, myself and the larger fiction community, thank you for all your hard work!

Primary reason

I honestly don't know how someone can do all the things that Arch does and still be considered sane. He's been a long-time member of Odan-Urr, is the current Exarch and Right Hand of Justice, all while putting up big numbers and burning through competitions in his spare time between work, family, and other projects.

In Odan-Urr, Arch's presence has always been more than welcome. He's always willing to guide and teach others, support the Clan and it’s endeavors and offers to do the little things that are often overlooked. For example, he recently went through our entire library of Clan fictions, sorted them in chronological order, and assigned them numbers to provide us with a more straightforward and organized catalog.

Recently, he played a significant role in planning for our Clan's reconstruction and drafting the document used to propose our new fictional direction and provide ideas for how we currently operate as a Summit. His insight, especially from an Ex-Consul's perspective, has dramatically improved how the Summit works by reducing waste and alleviating many of the issues of more bloated Summits. Additionally, while planning our new storyline, Arch contributed fresh ideas. While I can't provide details, as the story is unfolding, his experienced eyes on the project helped bring it all together.

Now for some numbers, since his last award, he's participated in 224 competitions earning himself 14 Crescents with Diamond Stars, 20 Crescents with Ruby Stars, 41 Crescents with Amethyst Stars, 36 Crescents with Sapphire Stars, 17 Crescents with Emerald Stars, 7 Crescents with Topaz Stars and 2 Crescents with Quartz Stars. Fiction wise he's written a total of 12,773 words in 2 ACC battles and 14 Fiction Activities, earning himself 39 Clusters of Ice. For gaming, he's gained 1 Pendant of Blood, 37 Clusters of Fire, and 4 Clusters of Earth in 13 Gaming Activities. He's also earned 3 Dark Side Scrolls, 1 Scroll of the Master, 11 Legion of the Scholar, and 1 Seal of Loyalty. For his efforts during the last RoS, Arch had full bin participation and earned 2 Gold Nova, 3 Silver Nova, 2 Bronze Nova, and 14 Seals of Enmity. He has also completed 7 Shadow Academy courses and earned 2 Degrees. While not only a consumer of competitions, Arch has also organized 41 competitions, many of those for our 10th Anniversary Event and as QUA of House Sunrider.

Arch, I can't say it enough. Thank you immensely for the effort you have put into this Clan and the Club as a whole. We wouldn't be where we are today if not for volunteering all your time and skills. You’ve more than earned this Ruby Scepter, Congratulations!

Ambassador Revak K'Urr, 2021-12-30 18:05:00 UTC
Additional reasons

Arch is the best kind of thorn in my side. As one of my Hands, he has been an instrumental part of the continual monitoring and mediation of issues within the club. Within the capacity of his duties, Arch has had the opportunity to be directly involved in the investigation of potential cloning cases, alongside contacting new joins that trigger matches with existing accounts. This is in addition to his constant voice in the observation and discussion of behaviors and potential cases.

The Chamber of Justice is somewhat of a black box. If we're doing our job, you have no idea what we're doing, and that's the way I like it. But sometimes you gotta air out what the spooks are up to. In Arch's case, he's a beast of an investigator. He is able to compile and articulate extensive case details and background, drawing a factual line of events that can be presented for clear understanding. He has been instrumental in making my life a million times easier when it comes to the compilation of case documentation. Additionally, he has been a huge help in investigating and understanding IP locations and correlations.

It would be easy to sit back and push for punishments, as is his role, but Arch shows an understanding of the inherent fairness the system is designed to represent. He advocates for slow and methodical conclusions that allow for every positive possibility before falling onto the negative. He isn't punitive, but logical, and I appreciate that immensely.

I would not be lying to say that my transition onto the Chamber would have been infinitely more burdensome without his presence and I can't state enough how much that has meant to me and the workings of this club, for all members. Thank you, Arch, and you deserve this.

Rhylance only very recently stepped up to lead Arcona, but has accomplished a lot over the past two years, working as Proconsul of the Clan as well as part of the gaming staff with the Fist. He has participated in an incredible 372 different competitions spanning 3 different vendettas, organized another 76 competitions, and earned a range of novae and crescents for his skills and talents as a member. For all his work as a leader in a Clan and in the gaming community, he has earned this Ruby Scepter. Congratulations Rhylance.

Lord Evio Nezsa, 2021-08-20 03:20:29 UTC
Additional reasons

Rhylance is one of the most prolific Magistrates that the Office has seen in recent years. He has served almost two six-month terms since his last recognition and in that time he approved a whopping 462 PvE and 50 PvP activities. Rhylance also has the attention to detail required for the role because I'm not aware of a single error he made approving gaming activities. He also contributed greatly to the staff by hosting 10 competitions for the GMRG series in his time. Well done and if you ever get bored you are always welcome back!

Raiheaux, 2021-08-16 11:58:36 UTC

I truly don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t had Rhylance as my Proconsul. He's dependable and hard-working, always willing to help out or go the extra mile for any project that we happened to be working on.

Rhylance actively assisted with almost every aspect of the upper Summit responsibilities. He played an active role in planning the overarching clan storyline. He also assisted in its execution, by co-organizing the first two events in that storyline: A Normal, Completely Uneventful Vacation and Deep Waters Rising. He has helped with almost every report I have done, as we both had sections that we each were responsible for every month. He also took point in in the ACC Venue Project, which involved gathering, formatting and submitting descriptions and images for the new Arconan ACC venues.

Rhylance is truly a cut above, not just as a member of the club, but also as a leader. He has proven himself to be reliable, hard-working and versatile, and he more than deserves the Ruby Scepter that he’s been nominated for. Congratulations, Rhylance! It was an honor to have you as my Proconsul, just as it’s an honor to call you my friend.
