What can I say about Knight Commander Syrena Valkar that hasn't already been said. Others have already spoken about her participation and awards so I want to speak on her leadership and interpersonal skills.

Serena took charge of One of the oldest and storied battle teams Odan-Urr ever had. She had her visions for the team and is creating Our next chapter while remembering and building upon the past.

Being one of the old Knights and an old BTS as well I have seen her make new and veteran members feel welcome and heard. She embodies the old Hoth Hype and is such a refreshing new face/voice the house / clan and the entire DJB needs.

Remember on the last rec I said you could take a break? I do recommend those at times. But it seems that Syrena is on a nonstop path forward. As a former knight commander, and current Hoth Quaester, I am glad to be working alongside Syrena. She is endlessly enthusiastic about her role as knight commander, and in addition to getting my email blown up by her endless activity I will also get messages from her about her progress on the story.

I knew when she managed to get Edgar of all people to be actually active in the House she was on her way to great things, and yet somehow every new achievement she pulls off is an amazing surprise to watch. Congradulations Syrena!

Bale may well be the first person in modern DB history (and maybe all of DB history) to earn the rank of Elder 1 twice. Although his dossier doesn't reflect it, he's been a member of this club on and off for decades, and much of our art dates back to his first stint as Herald after the Exodus: most of our medal images were created by Bale, as was the original version of the old logo (recently replaced by a new Bale logo!). He also happens to be one of our most compelling writers and just an all around great guy.

And now he gets a rank more befitting his creaky joints and gray hairs. Congrats and welcome back, old man.

There isn't a whole lot I can say about Bale's art, his work as Herald, or his general activity in the club. I'll leave that for everyone else far more qualified than me to do.

However, I can tell you a little bit about Bale as a person and as a member of this club. To do that, I'll need to take you all back in time a couple of years. I approached Bale about a piece of art I wanted done following a tragic event. He did it for me, for free, out of the kindness of his heart.

Ever since then, every couple of days or so I get messages on Discord from him asking how me and family are doing. We talk all the time, both DJB stuff and not. He is honestly one of my best friends here in the club.

I'm sharing all this because Bale is the kind of person to put other people before himself. He's done a lot not just for me, but for the club too.

Bale, congratulations on Elder. You well and truly earned it. You can finally have +5 Might again!

What a comeback! Bale/Malfaerak has been responsible for an absolute mountain of artwork, and not only was it a lot, it was also of incredibly high quality. Just look at that Letter of Reprimand? Don’t you just want to ‘earn’ one now?

It’s been wonderful seeing him return so strong after what were some of the craziest months where his real life and work were pummeling him. The big Dark Brotherhood 30th anniversary logo must be his crowning achievement, though. From the start he handled it like a professional graphic designer would, coming up with drafts and asking for opinions in the most formal manner on various iterations. All that time, effort, and quality that went in would be a lot of $$$. I was able to learn a lot from the process. Knowing how it works is one thing, but seeing it in action and him actually doing it is a whole different matter.

Anyway, me being in the office as Praetor, I can say that we are lucky to have him as Herald. Despite the downtime where I had to take over the reins for a bit, he’s still been very able to be contacted for essential things. The Trello board was pretty much wiped clean with new hires, Cassandra and Bruno, who he assigned the right jobs to. Communication is spot on, and nobody’s ever left hanging. There’s also always great feedback from him on all of our artwork. Turnaround times are very fair and support the staff under him; even if requests from outside the Herald’s office can push it a little bit, he’s always got our back!

Bale has always been a pleasure to collaborate with, we managed to fix things in the Warbanner that every Herald since I joined has been mulling about for years. He made it very clear what needed to be done, so it could be done, documented and all, with appropriate version numbers. Updating our fixes was made real easy with checkmarks. Truly, it was like detangling a giant knot. It’s also been refreshing to do more than just churning out Robes and having a stab at tangible goals and projects.

Along the way there've been so many challenges, and I am glad you faced and conquered them. It’s been great to have you around in the good, bad, and ugly times. There’s a lot you want to do still, and I think even the most impossible-looking challenges are doable now. You don’t say you are, but you are a very talented person, and I think you’ve really found your stride. All I can say is, keep it up. I definitely don’t regret taking up Praetor and am really glad to call you a friend, and you’re one of the big reasons I care about this community.

It’s easy enough to just see why Bale deserves the accolades he is receiving. The new site logo, which was its own long odyssey, was a professional grade project brought to life. Cleaning up the Warbanner for easier (and better) usage. Art for members across the board. Bale brings his incredible skills to better this club. A club that despite its flaws still remains a deep passion for him.

At time of writing this recommendation, since his last promotion Jai Thorne has participated in 44 competitions and 4 container competitions. Wrote 350 words for 1 roleplaying session. He has passed 5 Shadow Academy courses earning 2 degrees. Jai has earned 5 society rank ups and 166310 credits for Clan Vizsla. He has received 1 Grand Cross, 1 Crescent with Diamond Star, 4 with Ruby Star, 4 with Amethyst Star, 1 with Sapphire Star, 2 with Emerald Star, and 708 Clusters of Fire.

I have to preface this recommendation with “At time of writing” since the numbers listed above will most certainly have increased by the time this promotion is processed. Jai is just that active. Since December 31st of 2024 when Jai joined us in the Brotherhood he has been a consistent ball of activity. The fact that I get the honor of writing a recommendation for his promotion to Equite 1 a mere 40 days later speaks volumes of how much Jai has done during his short time with us. He can be found typically hanging out in one of the DB Gaming voice chats, gaming with other DB members, or just down for a conversation in voice or in various text based chats.

To say he has attacked the Shadow Academy would be an understatement. At this time he has very few courses left to take. His questions about how the brotherhood works, his conversations with others, and his activity has spurred life back into some of us older members in Vizsla. I had the pleasure of witnessing his activity summoning forth activity from others in the Clan that had seemed to be laying dormant. This is a mark of a leader in the Brotherhood. While Jai has not held a leadership position in the Brotherhood he displays the qualities of leading from the front.

The Equite tier is a special tier in the Brotherhood. To be an Equite is to stand Equal with your comrades within and outside the Clan. An Equite is no longer the new guy learning the ropes, but a member that has passed the initial learning phase and come into their own within the Brotherhood. As his Proconsul I can attest that Jai Thorne has demonstrated as such, through his actions as well as his words.

Jai, it has been an absolute pleasure watching you climb the ranks, earning accolades one after another. Congratulations on earning Equite 1, and welcome to the wider world of the Brotherhood. I look forward to watching what you climb to next as you continue forward.

A long, long, time ago … I mean it was back in 2014 … A wild Nobilus joined the Dark Brotherhood. Today, exactly 11 years ago to the day, I get to promote said Nobilus to Equite 4. I quite like the symbolism here. A well earned promotion, as you will read below:

In the last 16 months, Nobilus has been quietly chugging away at being active. He has organized 7 competitions, co-organized another one and participated in 451 other competitions. He has earned 75 Crescents (5 Diamond, 8 Ruby, 18 Amethyst, 21 Sapphire, 15 Emerald, 4 Topaz, & 4 Quartz). He’s also been awarded the Sapphire Blade and earned 9 Seals of Transcendence during the 16th Great Jedi War. He’s also ranked up across the various societies 3 times. In the Shadow Academy, he has completed 17 courses and acquired 9 Degrees. He also served two months as Magistrate to the Taldryan Consul.

Nobilus is one of those lurkers in our social channels. Always there to throw in an insight or observation before fading into the background once more. He’s one of the steadfast presences in Taldryan and one of the cornerstones of our social scene.

Does anyone ever get tired of seeing these messages? I know that when it comes to promotions or to awards, knowing that someone has met those requirements always gives me the warm and fuzzies. Because, contrary to popular belief, it isn't because I have a hairball, but because I know that I get to do something nice for someone I care about. In this instance, it's Sivall aka Tor. This member has been a singular entity in Odan-Urr. She's gone above and beyond to help welcome new members, she has mentored one of our new BTLs to Knighthood and continues to teach without regard for time. This is on top of over 3000 words of fiction, almost 8000 words of roleplay writing, nearly 5000 words as a DM, two Amethyst Kukris, 1 Sapphire Blade, an impressive 39 Crescents (7 Ruby, 6 Amethyst, 11 Sapphire, 6 Emerald, 6 Topaz, 3 Quartz), 59 Clusters of Fire, 41 Clusters of Ice, 45 Cluster of Graphite, 10 Society Ranks (1 GMRG, 1 INQ, 2 Shroud, 4 ACC Participant, and 1 each in the two Envoy paths).

Add this to the fact that Siv spent 13 months on both the Emissary and Herald staff, 4 months as a Quaestor, I would say that Siv is more than ready for her promotion to Equite 4. This singular member has proven that she is a capable leader, a capable assistant to Councillors, and a leader within whatever Clan she has chosen to be a part of.

Well done and well earned, Siv. I look forward to what you'll get up to next.

Sivall goes above and beyond to make everyone's experience as enjoyable as possible, whether by working on Club-wide initiatives as a Council staffer, looking after her Clanmates as a Summit member, or supporting other members by showing up. In short, she's here to help.

That attitude makes the Brotherhood a place that people want to be. Maintaining that attitude is the sign of a leader. Sivall should be recognised as such, and this promotion is an excellent way of doing so.

Siv has always been a pleasure to work and play with. Back when I was beside her on the summit to when I stepped up above, she was a steady force of activity, advice and reliability. Whether it was her personal engagement or as a leader crafting up stories and ideas for our characters and our community, I happily put Siv among those most dedicated to #OneBrotherhood.

I've spoken before in awards on everything Siv is as a person and it stands to this day. I won't spend forever chatting on about it again but thank you Siv. There's little I can add to this glowing promotion request that isn't said already, however I'm inclined to add my own thoughts for posterity.

Siv hasn't been with Sunrider for very long (since September) and yet despite that she has been a positive and joyful addition to the unit. Our House is facing a brand new start — getting built from the bottom up once again — and all I've ever gotten from Siv is cooperation and a willingness to engage with the stories and the content we're building. She is always willing to chat and to participate in competitions as much as she is able,to give advice or jump in and give new ideas for the House storyline. She is a leader without a position and a positive and encouraging voice in the membership.

Finally, Siv is one of the best members we have in COU, and I expect great things from her in the future.
