Well Kir, it’s been a long time in coming and it is one of the most deserving recommendations I’ve ever been a part of. I know we talked about this once and you said you already knew your own worth and the worth of your work and actions, but the clan felt everyone in the Brotherhood should recognize you. You’ve been a Consul, a leader and a friend to so many people in Taldryan… This recommendation is their way of saying thanks for almost two years of amazing service and dedication. It’s been a privilege to work for and with you and I hope to keep doing so for as long as possible. I joined the Dark Brotherhood a year and a half ago. I had known Mav and another former EH/DB member named Dark when I was in the Star Vipers. They spoke very highly of Clan Taldryan then. Upon joining the DJB, I joined Clan Taldryan and House Dinaari. All I can remember about joining is that a fellow know as Kir Taldrya Katarn was sure was active through clan emails, IRC chatrooms, and the message boards. At least every other week since I joined Kir has delivered a very well written report for the clan. Each week he finds a way to make it different. He pushes us to be active and at the same time isn't harsh or anything like that.

I believe we did so well in the last Great Jedi War all due to the diligence of Kir. He keeps us going, pushing us more and more to get out there. And he didn't just point us on and watch he got involved. Many leaders I've seen don't get heavy involved with the members, but Kir does quite often actually. Personally, I love having an active, good spirited leader. I'd dare say if it wasn't for Kir, I may not still be in the Clan today. Shoot, if it wasn't for him, the Clan wouldn't be so great today.

Truly he has done a great deal for the members of Taldrya. His efforts have kept the Clan alive and benefited the entire club. I wish I could award him some kind of high-end medal or promotion because he truly deserves it in my opinion. I personally want to thank Kir for being such an awesome leader and all-around great guy! Keep up the work, man. We members love ya.

I've been away from Taldryan and the Brotherhood for a long time, but after a lot of persuasion (mostly with people telling me what a state Ekky and Taldryan was in....) I returned. To find they had lied. Completely. In the time I've been gone, many people have come and gone, but Kir's guidance and leadership has been consistent and positive, and has obviously played a pivotal role in keeping Taldryan the strong, unified clan it is.

Kir has always been an approachable leader, one that I know I could email about any and every little thing that bugs me, with the knowledge that he would do what he can to rectify the problem, and gladly give his time to help out.

On a more personal note, coming back to find a completed Taldryan Codex was wonderful. For the last few years, I have constantly been inundated with emails asking about the history of Taldryan, and various attempts have been made over the years to bring all the information together in one place, none of which had been particularly successful until now. The Compendium shows perhaps more than anything Kir's dedication to Taldryan. It's something that I would have had no idea how to approach, but have always thought would be a wonderful idea. Kir found the time and the effort to turn that idea into a reality that will serve Taldryan for years to come.

On top of all this, Kir manages to continue what must now be a Taldryan tradition for a more light-hearted leadership. The job gets done, the competitions get won, but without anyone feeling brow-beaten into entering, instead feeling happy that they've made their contribution and been congratulated for it, with Kir constantly leading from the front.

Taldryan has, over the years, had a large number of hugely successful leaders, and I've had the plesaure of seeing the results of the labours of almost all of them. Kir is most definitely up there with the best of the best. Of them all, he has served the longest, and has been the most approachable, the most pro-active, and he has kept Taldryan's spirit going.

Taldryan has come to expect a lot from both it's members and it's leaders. In encouraging this ethos, it seems as if Kir may have shot himself in the foot. Everyone expects great things of him without reward. He himself does not expect anything for it, except the same effort from each member of the clan. It's about time his hard work, motivation and long-lasting enthusiasm were rewarded.

KE Bubbles (Krath) / Ektrosis of Taldryan

I am writing this recommendation because I believe that Kir Taldyra Katarn is deserving of recognition for all he has done for Clan Taldryan.  He has been a very big help to me since the day I joined the Dark Brotherhood.  I remember the first day I joined; I was very confused about how things worked.  I found out that my envoy was a person by the name of Kir Katarn.  I emailed him and asked him how I should get started and he sent me a response that very day telling me what I needed to do to get going.  Since then Kir has done nothing short of being the man responsible for my participation and activity in Clan Taldryan and the Brotherhood.

Due to real life circumstances, I had to take a leave of absence from the Brotherhood and was placed into rouges.  When I felt that I could be an active member I requested to be placed back into Clan Taldryan, and when I was Kir sent me a message welcoming me back.  He has aided me with many problems I’ve had since then.  The first issue he helped me through was the use of IRC.  I got it downloaded and I couldn’t find the channels that the dark brotherhood was using.  I talked to Kir on AIM and he led me through the process of how to get to the message rooms, he was even there to greet me when I found the right place.  Recently Kir has been teaching me techniques about playing in jedi outcast.  When I began to play everyone could beat me in any type of match, so Kir told me and showed me ways to better myself in that game and now I’m at equal footing with most of the other jedi outcast gamers.

Not only does he do those things, but he keeps the whole clan and the dark jedi brotherhood interesting.  For Clan Taldrya he has come up with many great ideas such as the Cohors Praetoria Taldryae, where the most active clan members become his personal guards for him.  And now he’s making a group called the Consul’s Fist, where the person who holds this title is an extension of Kir Katarn’s will.  They can be earn an advisory seat in the Conclave of Taldryan, and that is something that motivates me to be more active so that I can hopefully earn that right. He comes up with numerous competitions and rewards them appropriately.  He also participates in many of the competitions himself, such as the Tues/Thurs and Sunday competition.  

Kir also puts effort into his posts, he doesn’t just cut and past reports that I’ve heard of other consuls doing.  He does a yearly State of the Clan Address in which he reviews what’s been going on over the past year, and for me it brings a sense that the brotherhood is real.  That may sound odd, but it’s true.  For me, Kir Taldrya Katarn has been a big reason for me to stay in the brotherhood and in Taldryan, and I think that deserves recognition.  He has put a lot of effort into what he does and he should be rewarded for it.

Kir is one of the best members I know. From the first day I joined Taldryan he has helped me. I remember with in an hour of joining he had sent me a welcoming e-mail and told what I needed to do to meet everyone. That same night I had many problems with the old MB and I emailed him about it and he helped me greatly to get on there. This may not seem like much but he does this for everyone that joins Taldryan, with becoming a TET and seeing how many people join Taldryan with in a week’s time, it would amount to many emails quickly. Taldryan feels like a second family to a lot of its members because of the way Kir has everything set up. He is the reason that Taldryan is the dominant clan of the DB. He keeps us motivated during big DB comps and is always on of the top people to gain points for the clan. He is always willing to help us with anything. I know I’ve had problems understanding things with competitions and he is always ready to help. I know recently he has done a lot just for us. He always has goals for Taldryan. With in the start of the New Year he has released his Taldryan Codex, which I a compilation of the fictional and non-fictional history of Taldryan. Just a quick glance at it will show anyone what a tremendous task it must have been. Every year he does a state of the clan address, which is for telling us what plans he has for Taldryan. He always has new and innovative projects and comps. Kir has been Consul for almost two years and that in itself is enough for an award. But look at Taldryan today we are the dominant clan in the DB, we strive for nothing less than being the best and all of this we accredit to Kir. He is the reason we in Taldryan rock as much as we do. I would hate to see what would happen to the clan if he never got Consul. He is a mentor to all of his clan-mates. If I could get to be like Kir in my DB career I would consider that a major success. He is the model for what all Consuls should be. Not only is he a great Consul he is: Magistrate to the Grand Master, Praetor to the Deputy Grand Master, the Left Hand of Justice, and an Eclectic Pedagog for two Shadow Academy tests. Just recently he had too be away for family reasons for 1 to 2 days at the maximum, and he had 500+ e-mails from the DB. To Taldryan, Kir is more than a leader he is a friend and I know many people in Taldryan believe Kir deserves a promotion to Dark Side Adept. I know he has touched many people with his deeds as Consul and in his many other positions. I believe he more than deserves a promotion to DA.

In the brief time I have been in the DB, there has always been one member who has stood out above the crowd, and is always there for those who need him. Kir Taldrya Katarn has taught the DB, in so many ways, what a true leader is like. If you come to him with a problem, he will help you to clear it up, it doesn’t matter whether he’s busy or not, he puts other people before himself, and who else can you say that about. We all know that Kir has made Clan Taldryan into the powerhouse it is today, just imagine where we would be without him. His effort can be seen throughout the DB because of the insane amount of works he does, whether as a Consul, the magistrate to the GM, praetor to the DGM, Left hand of Justice, or working on one of his TWO Shadow academy courses. Without Kir I can easily say that the DB would not be the great organization it is today. For the past several years Kir has served the DB faithfully and has asked for little, and in the past few months he has done even more. Thus I believe it is time Kir Taldrya Katarn once again rises in rank, not only because of what he has done, but also because of what he will do. Great job Kir, I am glad I can work with you, and keep up what you’re doing.

As most of you all ready know I have been in the Dark Jedi Brotherhood for 1 year and 4 months, just five months short of Kir Katarns ascendance to the position of Consul of Taldryan. I can’t say much of what Kir was, but I can say what Kir is. Dedicated, trustworthy and gracious. Three lofty words of praise, but completely deserving. If there is one person in the DB to deserve this promotion its Kir.

Now most of you know I ran into some trouble with the judicial department when I first arrived in the DB. It was a long and frustrating experience, but the one person I could count on to give me support was my consul. Kir Katarn has led this clan through inspiration and perspicacity. His driving force has inspired us to reach new heights and to strive for the best in all of us. Through the GJW, the Sith wars, and the recent KRoS; Kir has demonstrated his talent for leading. It is possible to say that without his guiding influence we would not have been able to achieve the great success we earned when the final scores were tallied.

Kir Katarn is a beacon that draws out the best in people. A gift to inspire loyalty and dedication amongst his friends and comrades. I can think of no better reward for all his hard work and dedication that through this promotion. Our consul is our captain, and we shall follow him to hell and back again, although it seems that we have done just that: P

Let this letter serve notice that I, Obelisk Primarch Sithspawn, do hereby recommend Primarch Kir Taldrya Katarn for elevation to the rank of Dark Adept. Kir came into Consul at a disadvantage, having to resurrect much of the activity that was killed off by his predecessor's bare minimum of activity. Yet for the term of one year and 9 months, Kir has managed to increase Taldryan's level of activity to heights, which even the Dark Council should envy. Besides successfully leading the Clan through the Great Jedi War, Krath Rite of Supremacy, Obelisk Rite of Supremacy, and Sith War, Kir has moved on to improve Taldryan's assets in other areas. Most recently, he enacted several designs conceived under early reigns that his predecessor never got around to exploiting. As a former Consul of Taldryan, I can attest to the fact that Kir has had a very hard job, but has handled it in a manner that all could only dream of emulating. A year would be the burnout time for most accomplished Consuls, yet Kir has been consistent in his activity levels for his entire reign. In addition, Kir also continues where others who fall into leadership positions fail, by retaining common ground with the membership. Specifically, he can often be found playing Jedi Outcast with members, something that few leaders have time for these days it seems. Ladies and gentlemen, to allow such dedication and valor to go unrecognized would be criminal upon our parts.

I have had the privilege of knowing Consul Kir Katarn for nearly 4 years, and have seen a great deal of his career first hand. While Kir's career has blossomed fully in the years following my departure from Clan Taldryan, I have made it a point to follow his progress, and the progress of my former Clan very closely. In all that I have seen of Kir, he has shown ingenuity and passion to rekindle the spirit of competition and tradition of excellence that once was synonymous with Taldryan. As all the recent Brotherhood competitions can attest to, this spirit and tradition have been rekindled faster, and brighter than any other example in the Dark Brotherhood. Taldryan being one of the Clans most grievously affected by the split, they are now rebuilt to being possibly the most active Clan in the Brotherhood, and surely the most dominant. Being a Son of Taldryan has also allowed me a great perspective on the work that Consul Katarn does within the Clan, as he is continually consulting myself and the other Children of Taldryan who have ascended the Clans concerning his plans, and his most recent schemes for building up the Clan activity and pride.

Therefore it is with great pride, and utmost sincerity that I recommend Consul Katarn for elevation into the circle of Elders, and taking his place at the table with the rank of Dark Adept.

First of all, I would not still be in the DB, but Kir is just inspirational. He makes you have fun. How? Rather than sending out mails like..."YOU must do this"...the dear Kir sends out...."hey, lets all do this or that and have some fun" Thats a break down naturally. Secondly, if you have a problem...any problem...Kir will fire off with the answer. Another excellent example of his leadership. Third, all the good stuff. Let's see here...bomb reports...IRC presence...comps...as a CON what the hell else do ya want?

Kir is a great Consul and an awesome guy even if you simply want a chat. His activity levels are almost unparalleled and with his obvious show of participation it almost shames others into doing it as well! He devotes a lot of the time to the DB and to Taldryan, trying his best to make both better.

He's also been named Left Hand of Justice and I can't think of anybody more impartial and fit to take the job, even with the other jobs he holds. I can't imagine a Taldryan without Kir, stable and loyal, ready to help out with even the smallest things. He seems to be attentive to everything, picking out the smallest details.

He's re-introduced new in-clan awards systems and other types or rewards for his most active members in Taldryan. Without his help our Clan would not be the dominating force in the Brotherhood and would most likely be falling apart. Kir is also the guy that gave an inexperienced Dark Jedi Knight a chance to bring back the glory of his Krath House, namely me.

Very few in the Brotherhood can be even compared with Kir Taldrya Katarn, fewer can claim to have accomplished as much as he has or to be as active as he has been for as long as I can remember. During my time as a leader in House Ektrosis, Kir has always been there to help me along and annoy me to do stuff and help others. He's a source of great wisdom and an excellent leader.

Kir is probably the most deserving Consul in the Brotherhood of a promotion. Heck, maybe even the most deserving leader or most deserving person, period. He's been Consul for almost two years now, longer than any of the other current Consuls, and he's worked hard dating back long since then.

So I can proudly say without hesitation that Kir deserves a promotion to Dark Side Adept!

Ever since I started out as an Apprentice in the DB, I've never really seen Kir as just a member; he has always seemed much, much greater. He has been Consul of Taldryan longer than I've been a member, and it just amazes me at how he constantly puts the clan first by spending hours upon hours every week, aye, every day merely for bettering the clan and thinking of ways for the members to gain more pleasure and enjoyment from the DB. You can look at Taldryan pre-Kir and see a major difference. Kir revived Taldryan and once again made it the dominant clan of the Brotherhood. Kir is the prime example of an excellent leader, only one of a few I can say that of. I can list just a few of the accomplishments that he has achieved, and helped Taldryan achieve and this would just barely skim the surface of what he has done and what he continues to do. Just recently, he completed the Taldryan codex, pushed us towards winning the Krath RoS, wrote another State of the Clan address detailing his mighty vision of the future of Tally, he has been the editor of the Tal Times, he drove Tally to first place in the Great Jedi War, he is always talking with new members and teaching them important aspects of the Brotherhood, and most of all if a member ever has a problem Kir is always there to lend a helping hand. He not only leads Taldryan by constructing and supervising projects, but Kir is always on the frontlines of any competition that can better Taldryan's standing; he makes people active just by his own supreme amount of activity. He seems to only have one goal and one pursuit and that is the betterment of Taldryan.

You can look to Kir as the very definition of dedication, loyalty, and leadership. When I think of Clan Taldryan, Kir Taldrya Katarn is who I picture, he embodies the clan.

I am at a loss as to where I would begin talking about Kir. There is just so much that he does, I simply could not imagine Taldryan without a leader like him. I am extremely lucky to work with him.

Kir is constantly thinking up and incorporating new ideas into our day-to-day operations. Ideas such as the Taldryan Codex that set Taldryan apart from other clans, and it pays off. Kir has encouraged activity with his "Restored Glory" and "Continued Dominance", lead Taldryan to another victory in this most recent Great Jedi War, and participated in countless multiplayer games with even our lowliest member. Kir's creativity and his goal to maintain Taldryan's record of activity is a testiment to his leadership skills.

Kir ensures that anything that needs to be done will get done. I suspect he is a perfectionist. When Kir does something it will be done right. He has worked for two months without a PCON, choosing to do all the work he can by himself. His determination shows in all his work, and it pays off. Kir's determination and drive to be the best has been imprinted on all of us. It takes a special kind of person to do this, and Kir is one of them.

Kir sets an extremely high standard of activity. Simply put, Kir is always around. Tests, illness, even loud parties all night long can't seem to keep him away. When you're poking fun at him in clan channels, you have to call him "irKay" lest you attract his attention. His level of activity is what makes Kir such a great member and leader. Kir has a great attitude about everything too. He is probably one of the most verbally abused people on IRC, but he always seems to take it with a smile. Kir must have a lot of patience to work with the rest of us, a mark of either a skilled leader or a patient babysitter...

Kir is simply the most influential person in Taldryan today. He was been my Consul for over a year and a half, and I sincerely wish that he be recognized for all that he has done. Thank you for everything that you do Kir, and keep working on that stamina :P

I've had the opportunity to get to know Kir, and work with him on several things, since we were first Consuls of our respective Clans. Though things didn't pan out due to several things, we had some good ideas about a Clan Feud between Taldryan and Tarentum, which showed Kir's initiative to bring competitions and entertainment to his Clan, rather than just allowing comps to come, and have others do his work for him. He was someone I respected as an equal, someone I admired as a friend, and someone I enjoyed having as a counterpart. Though it may sound somewhat arrogant, and perhaps demeaning to other leaders, Kir was the only Consul that, while I was CON of Tarentum, I saw as a challenge. Though other Consuls have made their marks upon their Clans, and the Brotherhood, Kir as the only one who I actually found the activity and strength in, to make me want to best him.

In the Great Jedi War, it became quickly apparent that it was going to come down to Taldryan and Tarentum for the win. I remember thinking about the Arcona-Taldryan Alliance, and thinking about how fun it would be, to see who would win out, "Talcona," as some called it, or Tarentum. Arcona was soon left behind in the points margin, and it really came down to the two Clans of ours. In a way, it almost seemed like a game of chess between Kir and myself. It was fun, it was intriguing, it was intense; in the end, Taldryan won, and that has to be a mark of Kir's ability. He didn't just send people emails saying "go game!" like some, he was out there gaming, so much more than I was able to. After I took SHW, I was a little disappointed, because I wanted to go head-to-head with him again, and see what would happen in a rematch, but it wasn't meant to be.

When Yacks let me know my time as LHoJ was up, he talked to me about who might be a good replacement. He and I were both in agreement, as I remember vividly, Kir was really the only person we talked about. Kir has an ability to be fair and impartial, and keeps his concentration on the members; what they need, and what they desire is what Kir wants to work for. Kir was soon to be added onto Mav's staff, as his Praetor, as well as Jac's staff, as a Magistrate. In working with him on some of the projects for the GM's office, and in continuing to keep our friendship, I see Kir maturing even more, and shaping to be one of the best leaders the DB may ever see. I don't believe he wants it at this point, but I can easily see Kir taking on a major placement within the Dark Council, to help guide the Brotherhood with his excellence.

Kir is a friend, Kir is an ally, and he's also a respected adversary. I believe he is more than worthy of this promotion, and I congratulate his efforts, and his dedication. Well done, Kir. Truly, well done. -DJM Sith Bloodfyre-Tarentae (Sith)/SHW-P:GM/Dark Council

Kir has served as my Praetor since I was appointed Deputy Grand Master. However, I've had the pleasure of working with him since well before that. In fact, though it was quite a long time ago, I was actually a leader in Taldryan when Kir first joined the Brotherhood. It would not be until years later, when I returend to active duty, that I really came to know Kir well.

When Kir was first appointed Consul of Taldryan, the Clan was in somewhat of a slump. Within months, Taldryan once again became a force to be reckoned with. Kir will say that he didn't have much to do with the change, but he did. Kir's energy and enthusiasm has been essential Clan Taldryan, as evidenced by his incredible performance in the Great Jedi War and his Clan's incredible standing in it. Beyond that, he is a model Consul and leader, setting standards for activity and level of involvement that anyone would be hard pressed to meet. Kir follows the line of exceptional Consuls from Taldryan but takes his contributions further than just the Clan, effecting change the Dark Brotherhood as a whole.

Kir has worked as an advisor of mine for several months before taking on duties as my Praetor. In that time, I found him to be incredibly reliable and honest. Though there are times when I do not like what Kir has to say, his points are always valid. As a member of a Clan Summit, Kir routinely receives proposals that the Dark Council has reviewed. He shows a unique feel for the Brotherhood as a whole, able to see an issue beyond his Clan. Kir takes the initiative in persuing issues and resolving them, often coming to Jac or myself with something that he knows needs to be done. He keeps us aware of problems facing the DB membership from the unique perspective that he has. As Deputy Grand Master, I often either received things that are way too sugar coated, or way too one-sided. Kir helps present arguments from the middle ground, which is most often the case. Kir is invaluable in the day-to-day running of the Brotherhood, taking on tasks from both Jac and I that greatly assist in running the club smoothly.

I could write pages on what Kir has done for Taldryan and for the Brotherhood, but my space is limited. He has shown an incredible ability to juggle his Clan and the interests of the club. Because of the emergency Leave that our Grand Master had to take, he was unfortanately not able to add in his reccomendation in written form. However, I spoke with him, and all he had to say about the promotion was: "Get it done." It is therefore, with the blessing of the Grand Master, that I approve the reccomendations of Clan Taldryan, and promote Kir to the rank of Dark Side Adept.

When I first started this little project I talked to Mav and he told me that he and Jac were actually working on the same thing and had planned it relatively soon.
