Every year on May 4th, we award Seals of Loyalty to members nominated by the DC and Consuls--typically one per DC, two per CON. Normally I would have asked for those nominations last week, but this year we're doing something different. In November 2015 (we used to do SoLs twice a year), eagerly awaiting the release of The Force Awakens, Sarin awarded SoLs to all Clanned and positioned members in the club. This year, we're taking a page out of Sarin's book: every member of the club who has logged into the website between January 1, 2025 and May 4, 2025 will receive a Seal of Loyalty. That this club has not just lasted but thrived for 30 years is a remarkable testament to our community, the leaders at all levels who have kept the ship on course, and especially our members who keep engaging year after year. 32 Competitions, 2 Roleplays with a combined 1,968 words, a new Academy Course completion and a Degree Earned, 4 Society Rank-Ups, 2 with the Envoy Corps. as a Participant, 1 with the GMRG, and another in the Collegium, as well as a Steel Cross, 2 Crescents with Diamond Stars, a Crescent with an Amethyst Star, 2 Crescents with Sapphire Stars, 47 Clusters of Fire, and 3 Clusters of Ice. I can't claim Helmet as one of my own recruits, but, I am glad I pestered them to make their way back to the community, to find a new life among the Galaxy Far, Far, Away, and to give it a chance to ride, all the while not-so-subtly beating them with encouragement to jump in and do things with us and dragging them into various events where I could.
Seeing Zahara reach Knighthood is a grand point for me, much like my own return three years ago, seeing this community for everything it can be without arbitrary limits, enjoying the fun with others, and just being a welcomed part of everything has made it easier not only to find my own stride, but to help others find their places in the community.
