General Ronovi Tavisaen
Primary reason

Since Solus Gar's last promotion, he has accomplished the following: - DB ship write ups on Wiki (Cotelin, Firefox, Khyron, and Brotherhood classes) - GJWX - 10th - Independence Games 2011 - 13th - DJBWikipedian of the Month twice - Wiki image audit with Shadow - Created and implemented specs transclusions for DB squadrons - Created numerous graphics for DB units and members including character images and report headers - Recruited and mentored Teylas Ramar to DJK in five months and change - Shadow Academy Work - Debate exams and competitions - Push to automation - Worked with Orv as P:SCL, put file size optimization on every jpg file on the DB site.

Slagar was a big contributor to Arcona's war effort, coming out of nowhere to pick up a tonne of points and 10th place for us. After appearing for the GJW, Slagar created and lead Void Squadron, Qel-Droma's counterpart to the elite Soulfire Strike team. I worked with him to create the wiki page and he was an excellent leader and completed the proposal within a week of being approached. Since then, Slagar became Aedile of Qel-Droma for a while and then left us to Naga Sadow where he contributed to the DB at large as Praetor to the Headmaster, spearheading the Debate courses. Slag deserves the rank of Equite 3, that much is sure, so congrats Slagar, enjoy your promotion.

~Sanguinius Tsucyra Entar, Quaestor of House Galeres and Professor of Clan Histories

Slag's accomplishments are many and well-known, so I write to acknowledge the things that many may not know of. During the war it was incredibly inspiring to watch him work and take in award after award. Slag's efforts had a positive impact on my own activity, inspiring me to follow in his footsteps. I gladly provided voiceovers for a multimedia entry of his and he was wonderful to work with, very professional and courteous.

When I was a Journeyman he provided a kind and supportive ear while I went through the trials, and then when I took on the role of BTL when he became my AED. He, like many on the Summit, was more than willing to help me learn the ropes and provide guidance as necessary. As it was my first position as a leader, it was a great help. Even when I took over his position as Aedile, he continued to be supportive and still is. Thank you, Slag, you've been a great inspiration and guide and this promotion is well-deserved. :)

~KP Socorra Erinos, Aedile of House Qel-Droma

Slagar is one of the more extraordinary members that Arcona has had in a history that’s already full of excellence. He has served, admirably, in the Great Jedi War, being instrumental to our eventual victory. Certainly: Slagar’s methods have not always agreed with our own. Certainly, Slagar’s a disputant as well as an activity powerhouse. But frankly, if Slagar had not been every bit as argumentative as the rest of us, he would never have made a positive impact in the way he eventually did, nor would have made as good an Arconan as he eventually proved himself to be. His activity levels in the Great Jedi War and House War were incomparable and indomitable, earning him a full twenty-eight Seals. His knowledge of the Star Wars universe has helped us a great deal during the Great Jedi War. His skill at the Graphics event likewise proved invaluable. And finally, his own IRC presence and dedication ensure he was there to plan and work with all of us Summiters to ensure a successful outcome.

As you can read, my recommendation is big on generalities and small on specifics. Frankly, I don’t see the need for specifics in this case because, if you don’t know what Slagar’s done for us, you probably weren’t paying attention on the first place. So for God’s sake just promote the guy and give him the rank he deserves.

-Timeros Arconae, Rollmaster of Clan Arcona

I've had the privileged of knowing Solus Gar, or Slag as I've come to know him over the years. I can date our time together back to the days of the BHG, when he was the Chief of my Kabal, Dragon. Kabal's were similar to House's in the DB, and Slag was a fine leader who taught me a lot about the EH, the sub-clubs, and greatly influenced my writing at a young age. He was always someone I had looked up to as a writer and leader and one day hoped to like. Fast forward to the present, I am leading the newly reopened House Qel-Droma as a first time Quaestor. I have the rare honor of having Solus Gar join my ranks, and found it almost surreal that I was leading someone who used to inspire me. We quickly re-kindled our relationship and Slagar was very influential in helping Qel-Droma get up on it's feet, both fictionally and out of character. His experience and wisdom was a great aid to me in my first time command, and I always felt good knowing he was around and gave me the respect I craved. He always was willing to lend a hand where ever he could in an attempt to help out the House and the Clan overall.

When the 10th Great Jedi War arrived, Solus really showed his true colors though. Every Arconan fought valiantly in our landslide victory, but few inspired as much awe as Solus. He took home multiple Gold Novae for his work and was one of the top 10 scorers in the entire DB, and one of the top 3 in Arcona. His work was an inspiration to his clannmates, and it was evident that his creativity and drive helped spur forward the rest of the members.

Solus always did what was needed to be done for the good of the clan. It was an honor getting to fight beside him and to be a leader for him. He made my unit better simply with his presence, which is hard to say for a lot of members and a true testament to his skills and abilities. I was deeply upset to hear that he was transferring out of Arcona, but fully supported his hopes and desire of helping one of the brotherhoods other struggling units. It really goes to show you how much he cares about his comrades, and the level of professionalism he conducts himself with should be noted by any would be leader in the Brotherhood.

Solus has gone both above and beyond the call of duty, and is long overdue to join the rank of Equite 3. Congratulations, brother, and thank you for everything you do and continue to do for the Brotherhood. - Marick Del'Abbot, Proconsul of Clan Arcona

Slagar was a prominent member of Arcona from the minute he came into our Clan. He was eager, active and willing to participate. What differences we may have shared in our approach to certain situations aside, this man deserves every ounce of credit for his utmost dedication to the Brotherhood, and for his contributions to the Clan during his stay. I wont go into the semantics of what he achieved in his time with us, as I'm sure Ronovi will cover that at some length, however, I will say that it was an honour to work with such a talented member of the Brotherhood on a great number of projects. He was integral to our success in the Great Jedi War, and his approach to the most mundane of tasks was to just get on and do it (as exemplified in his wiki reshuffle).

I write this recommendation somewhat in despair. This should've been an Arconan affair. Nevertheless, his activity is far beyond what I would conceivably expect from any EQ3, and his track record speaks for himself. He is, and has been deserving of this reward for some time. It is a privilege to be able to write a small part of what is way, way overdue.

Congratulations, Slagar. You deserve it, buddy.

  • Wuntila Zratian Entar Arconae, Consul of Clan Arcona

I've had the pleasure to work with Slagar on a number of occasionas, and always noticed that his work is two things: Quality and Timely. His work is never less than polished, always when he promises it will be, and always above expectations. His demeanor is professional, friendly, helpful, and determined. He practices as he preaches, and has helped to write the two new debate courses, with the design of the debate league that will form afterwards also belonging to him. He is a great asset to the DJB as a whole, never complaining, always hard at work. He deserves recognition for his outstanding and long term efforts in the SA and in the DJB as a whole.

Congrats dude. You've earned it.

~Tra'an Reith, Quaestor of House Plagueis

I don't do a whole lot of micromanaging with the wiki staff, so there aren't many times I get to say things like "I've been watching you" or the more appropriate "I appreciate what you've done here". So hey, a promotion recommendation for Slagar!

Slagar does some of the day-to-day wiki stuff, which is important and good but not exactly flashy and exciting for a permanent mark on one's dossier. That's what the user contributions page is for anyway. What I do find all kinds of awesome are the capital ship images he's added over the years to our ship articles. I've always had a soft spot for the order of battle section and I can honestly say that, speaking as an ordinary member for just a second, it's the sort of thing that I really do enjoy about this club (this is the part where the approving MAA staff makes a mental checkmark beside "has made a positive impact on the club as a whole").

I'm sure others have lots more to say, but I simply wanted to let Slagar know that I truly am thankful to have him around to do wiki things.

~DA Benevolent Taldrya Whiner, Wiki Tribune

Slagar is one of those members that when they're on their game they can accomplish just about anything thrown at him. Personally, he came out of nowhere to write some fantastic wiki articles on the DB-specific capital ships. These articles were more than good enough to garner wiki articles of the month. I was delighted just at the fact that someone was fleshing them out, but the actual detail and quality of the work was outstanding.

From afar I have seen him be a whirlwind of activity, accomplishing great feats in the last GJW to help Arcona to ultimate victory. He has been a great asset to others both in creating graphics as well as helping out from a coding aspect. I also know that he has done a lot of work on the new Debate aspects of the Shadow Academy. Again, these are just some of the aspects that I have seen from him, although I know he has been a constant source of activity for quite some time now, and I am more than happy to see him take the next step in the Equite ranks. Congratulations! ~ Halcyon Rokir Taldrya, Deputy Grand Master

There are many different kind of fans of Star Wars. There are those who just enjoy it for the flash, people who are advocates of the mythos, and those few experts who find delight in the details. With the ever increasing drive toward 'realism' (used in quotes because it's Star Wars, after all) those experts are finding themselves to be more and more useful. Slagar has done a lot with his experise, from reworking several of the capital ships, tightened up squadron pages, and did a fair bit of heavy lifting in the wikipedia for the Brotherhood. This kind of work often goes overlooked, as it is behind the scenes stuff, and requires a sort of analytic mind and stickler sense for detail that most people do not possess, nor would they find the work even remotely entertaining. On top of this, he's worked with Ronovi on several new things as regards the Shadow Academy and helped Orv achieve a more streamlined graphics optimization. This is not easy work. This is not even really fun work. This is a grind, and Slagar did these things without really expecting reward, without so much as asking for it. That tells me that despite the occasional snark, Slagar does care, and care deeply for the Brotherhood, and that he wants to see it succeed. That he has made the transition from consumer to producer, and that he is more interested in giving back than taking at this point. That is a hell of a jump to make, in mindset and in action. As such, it is my belief that he should be promoted to Sith Battlelord, the third of the equite ranks, and one step closer to elder. Well done, Solus Gar. ~Muz Ashen, Dark Lord of the Sith

It is heinous that this promotion has been so long delayed. Many of the recommendations listed here have already touched on Solus's immense amounts of wiki work (DJB Wikipedian of the Month twice, ship write-ups), his GJW work (over two dozen Seals of Decimation and nine Novae), his graphic work, and even his work as master to Teylas Ramar, helping him get to Dark Jedi Knight.

What I have been most impressed with, however, is the amazing plethora of work he has done for the Shadow Academy in a matter of mere months. I could not have asked for a better Praetor.

Yes, there are things he needs to work on. We all have things to work on. But where his bluntness and banter lie also affect the amount of productivity and honesty that he brings to the Academy. Solus is, above all, my right hand man. He is the Stonewall Jackson to my Robert E. Lee. He is the partner-in-crime to my scholarly "heists." Without him, nearly half of the projects we've delved into since my appointment as Headmaster would never have been touched. He sees things as they are, he's not afraid to tell the truth, and he knows how to fix things over 85% of the time.

Since Solus has become my Praetor, he has seen the Academy be pushed to automation, the Shadow Academy Debate League's first event started without a hitch, and the implementation of brand new courses and ideas to promote logical deduction, healthy argumentation, and improved leadership skills. He has worked with Orv (who he also worked with as P:SCL, adding file size optimization to every .jpg on the DB site during his position time) to add the Shadow Academy's very own image uploader. This allows the Academy to work fluidly without the need for overreaching fingers into raw html and FTP. It also allows us to be an independent force in the Brotherhood's proceedings, similar to that of the Wiki and the ACC.

The Shadow Academy's core purpose has always remained stable, but Solus has done so much to make it stronger. I cannot thank him enough for his recent productivity. Even this promotion doesn't seem to add up to everything he's done. But I'll give it to him anyway. Because he deserves it.

Thanks so much, Solus. I am truly blessed to have you as a second hand and as a good friend.
