Brethren,

Each Dark Council position in its own right has a special place in the Brotherhood. From Consul to Herald, Seneschal to Master at Arms - each has its unique contributions to keeping this organization moving. One position, however, has such a direct impact on the newest of our members that without a competent and diligent Councilor there, the DB would begin to rot. The Headmaster is the caretaker of our incoming members - our lifeblood. Without him and without the Shadow Academy, we would rarely see the influx of constant activity that we always have.

Throughout the Dark Brotherhood's storied history, there have been many great Headmasters who led the way through the difficult task of learning how to be a member. Dev, Kumba, Pyralis, Spears -- all of the other greats -- these people are legends to those they introduced into the Brotherhood and helped along the way. Tonight, we honor the newest of this distinguished group. Anshar Kahn Tarentae has worked hard to become a legend in his own right, creating a legacy of strong leadership and helpful mentoring within the Shadow Academy. It is only fair and just that we recognize Anshar properly: with an elevation to Dark Jedi Master!

I have had the distinct pleasure of working with Anshar both when he was Praetor to the Headmaster and after he took the reigns from Spears. I can say without hesitation that Anshar is one of the finest members I have had the honor of coming to know. He is dedicated to his craft; he has continued the traditions of both taking care of his staff, the members and the projects to be completed. I have always been impressed with his constant innovation. Anshar strives to make the Shadow Academy the best it can be. He is always looking for new ways to create engaging environments to help members learn. Fictional Reality was a project of just that; he has given more depth to the Shadow Academy.

Further, Anshar has worked to develop an array of new courses and quickly finished the new website upon making Headmaster. He has added a lot of value to the SA, made it easier to navigate and comprehend, and worked at keeping everything updated. He is ahead of the game and I truly appreciate his continued enthusiasm for the job. I'm sure the new members do too; Anshar is always there to help them get acclimated to the Brotherhood. Anshar is courteous to all, candid with his opinions and wise in his actions. His leadership is essential to this club.

I cannot tell you how pleased I am with Anshar's work. I hope, Anshar, that you take this promotion as a token of my and the Brotherhood's gratitude for all you do.

Congratulations! Lord Jac Ae-Sequirea Cotelin Grand Master of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood

In my position of Deputy Grand Master I have had the honor to work with and watch the work of Dark Adept Anshar Kahn Tarentae. Anshar is one of those members who people immediately identify as a superstar of his generation. Being a relatively new member Anshar has exceeded everyone's expectations in every area of the Dark Brotherhood he has tackled. His most important and most recent work as the Headmaster has been nothing short of spectacular. He has organized movement to a modern website, updated fictional aspects of the SA, and increased the amount of new SA courses. Anshar's projects and SA work have all been of a quality and standard that improves the Dark Brotherhood. His last nine months of service as HM and his career to date make him more than worthy of the title of Dark Jedi Master.

Congratulations Anshar!

Dark Jedi Master Aristan Dantes Deputy Grand Master of the Dark Brotherhood

In writing this recommend for Anshar Kahn, I recognize that other people may call to mind what actions Anshar has taken to merit a promotion. I could probably do likewise, but instead of saying what Anshar has done to be promoted; I will explain why Anshar Kahn can and should stand as a Master of the Brotherhood.

I first met Anshar through a new recruit (at that time) named Dranik. Anshar had recruited Dranik, but through some mistake, Dranik had been assigned to Tarentum, rather than Arcona (the Clan Anshar was part of then). In helping Dranik become adjusted to the Brotherhood and Tarentum, I had an opportunity to become introduced to Anshar, and speak with him. Anshar was a member of the Brotherhood who had spent some time within the Club, and like many, seemed to have a lack of motivation at that period. He was a dedicated member, but the spark of interest and enjoyment seemed to be dwindling. Dranik did not transfer to Arcona to “rejoin” his mentor and friend, but rather, Anshar transferred to Tarentum in order to train his recruit and apprentice and, I believe, to gain another viewpoint and alternative within the Brotherhood.

As Consul of Tarentum then, I could see in Anshar a leader, a mentor, and an honest man. I knew that I had found a leader when a House, Gladius, was in need of one. I think it surprised Anshar at the time, but I quickly made him Quaestor of the House. Admittedly, it was somewhat against Tarentum tradition; we generally do not look outside of our Clan for leaders. And though Anshar didn’t have much “Tarentum time” under his belt then, I knew he would adapt, and even bring something back to Gladius and Tarentum that may have been missing. And I would be understating things if I did not say that Anshar was successful beyond even my greatest expectations. Watching him work as Quaestor, I recognized in him the potential to become a future Consul of the Clan; I knew back then just how much of an impact Anshar could have.

I then found it interesting to speak with Anshar about his opportunities. He mentioned to me how, in Arcona, he had lost much of his motivation, and had seen almost a real “stopping point” to his Brotherhood career. Coming to Tarentum, however, had made him see that the end was not near, and that so much of the Brotherhood was still open to him. I was happy to see a renewed enthusiasm, and in watching his enjoyment grow, I watched the enjoyment and opportunities for Gladius increase with his leadership. His attitude and abilities reshaped that House, and it is something I remember with fondness. I hope those who served with him in Gladius remember that fondly, as well.

Anshar continued to be a boon to the Clan as he eventually moved into positions of Proconsul and Consul, but even when he is not in an “official Clan position” (such as he is now), he maintains an active interest in the Clan, and stays involved however he can help. He is a recognized figure of assistance and leadership, and he is an easy man to follow. He has risen to a point in which he follows after a man who has done the same; when Spears rose to Headmaster, it was as someone who had come ‘from below,” and recognized just how much the younger generation needed help, and Spears knew that he was the man to help them. I see that for Anshar. Anshar had lost his spark to a great degree, but then returned “to the roots” of the Brotherhood in serving a House, and then recognized the need for him to serve the newer members, as well. His efforts as Headmaster have had a tremendous impact upon the Brotherhood, one that you will see in his supervision of recruits, and in everything he does as Headmaster.

Anshar has the renewed dedication, enthusiasm and personality that are needed to shape our new generations. He is the right man for the job of Headmaster, but he is someone who I would absolutely see taking over any position within the Brotherhood that needed him; yes, I can even see GM Anshar Kahn at some point in time. Anshar is a good friend, but more importantly, he is a great leader, and has the skills, experience, and personality to stand as a Master of the Brotherhood by deed, if not by recognized status. I see his elevation as not only justified, but more than appropriate.

Congratulations, Master Kahn.

-DJM Sith Bloodfyre-Tarentae Consul, Clan Tarentum

I'll be frank. I was originally disheartened that Spears was stepping down from Headmaster. Spears and I were pretty good pals, and this Anshar guy, I had never even met. Oh how surprised I was when it turned out that he was as awesome as Spears. He dove right in, starting up new classes, rebuilding the website in a much easier to navigate format (after all, the new kids can't be getting lost in the Shadow Academy), and further, he's been fleshing out the fictional role of the Shadow Academy. All in all, Anshar has been pushing the Shadow Academy further and further up the path we all need to be pushing this club.

Now, I'm not terribly certain what makes a person worthy of Dark Jedi Master. Does it mean that they have tutored a padawan toward Knighthood? Does it entail making a lasting change for the good of the Brotherhood? Does it mean that the work that was done makes the Brotherhood more fun for the people in it? If so, then Anshar certainly fits the requirements, with extra to spare. I am honoured to recommend the Headmaster for such a rank.

Anshar, I salute you, Master of the Dark Brotherhood.

~Muz Keibatsu Sadow, Herald of the Brotherhood.

Since becoming a member of the Brotherhood, I have always been struck by Anshar's dedication to the members that he serves. As his Apprentice I came to know Anshar as an individual who put the needs and happiness of others ahead of his own. I had the pleasure of working beneath him as Knight Adjutant whilst he was serving as Knight Commander. His transition from Consul of Tarentum to Headmaster was one of ease, and he has continued his trend of sterling service in the role he now serves.

Anshar is most deserving of this elevation to the rank of Master. One could not find an Elder more involved or caring for the common membership.

Battlemaster Sato Bruth'Kothae, Quaestor of Gladius

What to say about Anshar…It’s hard to sum up Anshar’s achievements within my time in the Brotherhood let alone his entire career. When I first met Anshar, back in the fall of 2003 it was at Berry College and he convinced me to join the DJB. Since that day Anshar has been my Mentor and Master in the Brotherhood. If it had not been for his mentorship, I wouldn’t be where I am now. My time with Anshar has been extensive, more so than most any other I am willing to say. After I joined Anshar transferred to Clan Tarentum and was an active member there. After a while he became the Quaestor to the House and led it very well. Sometime after that Anshar became the CON to Tarentum and led it as well. Anshar has since moved from the Ranks of Tarentum and into the Dark Council. He now serves in the Role of Headmaster.

I have been in the Shadow Academy staff for most of my Brotherhood Career, serving as Magistrate under Kaiann, Spears, and Anshar. I am currently serving as Anshar’s Praetor and work with him a lot on projects. Anshar has, in my opinion, advanced the Shadow Academy further than any other single Headmaster that I have served under. Under his guidance the SA has taken on a fictional role in the Brotherhood that he hopes to expand even further, to make the SA more than just somewhere you go to take courses. To make it an actual part of the Brotherhood as a whole. The large project, Fictional Reality, has been completed and has been released to the public under the name of The Dark Vault. It also allows for some continuation as the Shadow Academy advances in the direction that, under his leadership, it no doubt will. Also under Anshar’s leadership, their have been other advances. Currently the Core exams are getting rewrites to bring them more up to date on the Brotherhoods current order policies. And there are new exams being worked on, and others that he has had done since and released already.

There is no doubt in my mind at all, that Anshar deserves the title and Rank of Master. That is why that, I, Obelisk Prelate Dranik, Aedile of House Gladius of Clan Tarentum and Praetor to the Headmaster, do hereby and henceforth place this recommendation that Anshar be promoted to the Rank of Dark Jedi Master and be granted all the Powers and Privileges that go with it.

Signed in Blood and Darkness:

Obelisk Prelate Dranik (3417), House Gladius of Clan Tarentum. ~Praetor to the Headmaster ~Aedile to House Gladius of Clan Tarentum
