It's with great pride and honor that I write to you today on behalf of the Sons and Daughters of Taldryan. You were nominated and overwhelmingly approved by these long-standing members of the Clan. As Consul and a fellow Son of Taldryan, it's my privilege to come before you and invite you to join our order and carry with you the name of our Great Clan. Those that carry the name are truly the most dedicated and loyal members of Taldryan, and have proven that over time again and again. You have earned the utmost respect and admiration of all of us.

There will be more awards later in the week, but I will end my spurt today with one final recognition.

I was talking with Pyralis today about how hard it is to write a recommendation for our Deputy Grand. I personally know how much Mav does for this club -- I work with him daily on running everything, but it's hard to put it into words. I think it's the same problem I have in explaining what I do myself on a day-to-day basis; there's simply too much.

What I can explain is that without Mav, the Dark Brotherhood would not be what it is today. I would be long gone, and so would a host of other important members. Some clans would be in shambles, and many different projects would not have come into fruition. Mav is the backbone of this club -- he supports us, he directs us, he is always there to hold things together.

The team of Jac and Mav is a balanced one. Mav is the equivalent on IRC or me through email. I spend a lot of time dealing with the projects, Mav spends a lot of time dealing with the people. I do a lot of work on the tomorrow of the club, Mav works on the today. Mav is amazing at picking up the slack on the days when I simply can't put in 100% and he is always there in a crisis. It's amazing the knowledge that Mav possesses -- he hears everything, knows everyone and can mediate problems like no one else.

Personally, Mav keeps me under control at times when I want to lose it. I can remember times when I've been down and out but Mav has talked me through problems. Mav frequently reads over proof emails from me to make sure I have it right, and when proposals come along, Mav always has a viewpoint that I didn't think of. He sees the vision of the DB's future and knows when the steering needs to be corrected.

Mav has a kind soul; he is compassionate like no other. He always wants the best outcome in every situation for everyone involved. Mav is a man that I would never doubt the integrity of -- he holds the truth in a high regard. He is a good friend.

Mav does so much on a daily basis to keep this place running. It's unreal the number of connections he has, the amount of conversing he does. He keeps tabs on everything and always makes sure that things are done right. Simply put, I could not do my job without Mav here.

I think we all owe a debt of gratitude to our Deputy Grand Master. Today I only repay a part of that debt by elevating him to the rank of Dark Prophet.

Telaris... "Mav"... Cantor...I call him Mav, usually... How to begin...It is hard to find words for someone so skilled in so many aspects of the Brotherhood... First of all, in my opinion, Mav is by far the most worthy candidate for the rank of Dark Prophet within the Dark Brotherhood at present. I can't emphasize that enough. Today, we've seen some of the pillars of Rebirth rewarded for their hard work. However, a lot of their work has been recent – done within the last 5 or 6 months. Mav's contributions have spanned a bridge into our past as far back as the Exodus itself. Just as he was to Lord Firefox, he continues today as a powerful advisor on everything that occurs within the Brotherhood. His persistence in Inter-Club Relations has brought us new membership and secured us Alliances stronger than any I've known from the past as an EH member. He has worked consistently on the Order of Battle and it is now complete. The Dominion project, which was started only recently has shown strong progress.

These accomplishments, if completed by you or me, would be worthy of a nice sacrificial blade of some sort. However, we are not here today to recognize a man of simple projects. We are here to recognize a leader of leaders…

Telaris... "Mav"... Cantor... Mav has been the binding strength that has helped the clans of the Brotherhood stay together. He has assisted both house and summit members in becoming better leaders, acting as an overseer of much of what they do, giving advice where necessary. He suggests ideas to members and leaders which help the clans advance to a higher stage of internal activity. As any of you know, when you receive a medal or promotion, Mav is just one of those names on that long list of recipients. However, Mav is part of many other mailing lists, lists that even extend between the leaders of your clans. He reads all of these e-mails, getting to know your clan and its functions. Occasionally, questions arise or disputes ensue. Mav is a grand mediator of sorts, saving both sides a lot of time and helping to achieve a mutually agreeable resolution. Beyond this, Mav maintains a strong presence on IRC, making himself available to all of the members of the Brotherhood. I'm sure you've had the chance to talk to him once or twice. He strives to know the clans which he helps to lead and must ultimately choose replacements from this membership when leaders resign.

However, what I value most about Mav, is his universal knowledge on almost all matters of the Brotherhood. No matter what question or concern I have, Mav knows what's going on and has always made time to address me and help argue out an answer or theory about the DB. But, it goes beyond business, really. Mav is a person I have known as a friend for many years and he has always been there to support me when things get rough.

Mav is an excellent Deputy to Jac. Mav is reliable. Mav isn't out to get as much rank and as many medals as possible in as little time. He doesn't pick fights and can get along with almost anyone in the Dark Council or with the general membership. He consults and makes decisions. He presents arguments that have a unique perspective and helps everyone involved achieve a higher understanding and purpose for their tasks in the grand scheme of things. What a huge surprise this will be when Mav returns from his leave...Dark Prophet? In two years? No Mav... Dark Prophet Telaris... "Mav"... Cantor...Today... Telaris Cantor stood quietly at the entrance to the Grand Master's chambers. His daily ritual of visiting the leader of the Brotherhood often left him staring at the large oak doors that guarded the chambers; Jac had a tendancy of making him wait. Of course, Telaris also had a habit of being late. It never failed that he would be stopped en route to seeing the Dark Lord. "Mav!" they would yell, stepping right in front of his path. It never ended. Trade Negotiations, Territory Wars, Clan Conflicts. Building plans. Retirements. Mav dealt with everything it seemed, and everything always had a knack for finding him.

Today had been quiet, though. He only ran into Kir Katarn, who had obviously just left the Grand Master's presence. The Taldryan Consul had that look about him as if he had just heard what he wanted to hear. Kir, a newly promoted Primarch, chatted with Mav briefly and went on his way. "Good luck," he said, departing quickly. It was at that point that Mav knew something was going on. It was too unusual to be stopped but once.

He waited at the doors trying to sense what was happening within. As usual, Jac wasn't allowing any sort of penetration into the chamber. The Adept heard the customary sounds that indicated Jac was unlocking the door. However, instead of swinging open like usual, the doors only opened slightly, and the Dark Lord stepped out through the slit. The doors quickly shut behind him. "Mav." Jac nodded in the Adept's direction. Mav bowed in return. "Tell me, how go your studies?"

"My studies?" Mav was taken aback. Jac never asked about Mav's skills, and Mav preferred it that way. "I have been lacking the time I need to devote to them fully."

"I don't think you need any more time, Telaris." Jac replied, smirking. "Come." The Grand Master opened the doors and beckoned for Mav to follow.

Telaris Cantor knelt before the Grand Master, their eyes locked in a cold stare.

"Ascendant," the Grand Master said slowly and carefully, "what does thou desire of the Dark Side?"

"Mastery," Mav replied, confident, assured, yet afraid.

Well folks, this has been a long time coming. Mav has deserved to be promoted for a long long time, and now his stupid boss has finally gotten a chance to do it. I don't know how much I need to tell you about Mav to convince you that he is deserving of Dark Jedi Master.I think that if you look at the people who have achieved that rank recently, you would most assuredly put Mav into that class of people. From his skills with the members or his ability to manage, to his vast initiative that I admire greaty, Mav is a first class member.

As Lord Chamberlain, Mav took his service to the next level. He was always helping where needed and was on the ball with everything assigned to him. Now, as Deputy Grand, Mav takes care of a great deal of things that I simply cannot. I trust him to work as an extension of my office, with my approval on whatever he decides on his own. He carries himself well, and never is one to hold back from what he knows it right.

Mav brought me back to the DB in 2000. We have been great friends since. In fact, Mav is the only person from this club that my fiancee actually knows about. He's done a lot for me over the years, and even more for the DB. It is for that reason that I am honored -- honored -- to elevate Telaris "Mav" Cantor to thew rank of Dark Jedi Master.
